  1. those bastards... i would give money to the Conservative Party of Canada if I thought they could bring home some seats in Quebec... is there no way out of this Faustian bargain we have created in this country? don't be so sure about that... the Quebec Liberal machine should never be underestimated... he ain't all that... if he is good at taking direction from the backroom boys, then the separatists may get lucky... Quebec has been running under a false economy for years... Quebecers aren't stupid... nobody likes hard times... Oh but it does matter... it's very unlikely that a Lib/NDP government would yield more power to Quebec... but the CPC/Bloc would be a horror show for Canada. The country is going to take another lurch to the left (it seems to be what the people want )... I don't see it so gloomy... but well said... who will speak for Canada... my beloved country... we cannot let it slip away without a fight...
  2. What horrible hate compels you to see the destruction of our country? The Conservative/Bloc elements are free in this land to have their own opinion and to work for their goals. But why do you do this? Canada is a wonderful land. Our people are leading the way for the world in the 21st century... we are so lucky and have so much to share... and yet we have people like you. Do you have no vision?... Is all you can imagine death and disassembly? I don't think you would be so cavalier in expressing your anti-Canadianism if this were a non-cyber situation. Imagine you saying these things in a bar in Halifax, or a church social in Charlottetown or at a Canada Day party in Victoria. You coward, you shameless hater of the country I love.
  3. Sounds lovely... Quebec and the Maritimes are the real Canadian place to have Christmas... let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... I have so many fond memories of that as a lad... i am a lucky man to have have such deep roots in this wonderful land... and I know that there are other Canadians who feel the same about their homeland... BC to Baffin Island... Alberta to Antigonish... --- Conservatives and American Republicans are sliding money into Quebec... they hate Canada and want to see our end... this is where the money comes from... all off the books... it's bad enough that the Bloc and the Conservative Party of Canada (read Republican wannabees) conspired to bring down a very productive Parliament... but now they are the clear enemies of Canada... good Canadians need to work hard to overcome this foe... it's time to "Stand on Guard"... our dominion is not free... we have to work for it each day... We need to work very hard this time, our country is at stake... our enemies only see us for the money they can make by the dissasembly of all our hard work... they would take away our beautiful land, for a small amount of money each, and a pat on the back by the Americans and International Corporations... may God forgive them for their folly... Canada IS the 21st Century... we are leading the way... we need men and women of vision...
  4. All this does raise some interesting questions about the Conservative Party of Canada... This is not the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada... make no mistake about that... The Progressive Conservatives have a fine heritage that goes back to confederation... but times have changed and their fine tradition is lost... This new Conservative Party is really a cobbled-together party of malcontents and misfits together with the remnant of the original Progressive Conservatives (or at least those PC's who didn't bail when they realized the shabby company they were keeping - only those with strong stomachs remained). We've seen white supremacists, hate mongers, criminals and every other spotted and striped beast poke its head up from the ranks of the Conservative Party of Canada in the last few years. Many have been expelled... but those who have gone unnoted and work their deeds in the shadows remain. There is still a huge dark underbelly of seething hate within the Conservative Party - hate for Canada and Canadian values. It seems silly that one should be surprised that there are separatists among them... To quote Gordon Stamp, campaign manger for incumbent MP Peter Goldring (Edmonton East): "Many of us in Alberta are working on our last federal campaign, if the Liberals remain in power, we will be working on Alberta separation after January 23." MP Peter Goldring later praised Gordon Stamp as an upstanding person. However he didn't feel that half their campaign team will support Alberta separation if the Conservative Party didn't form the next govenment of Canada. So he was aware of somewhat less than half of his team are separatists? Mon dieu! Wake up Canada... it was the Conservatives and the Quebec separatists who conspired together to bring down this parliament. The New Democratic Party of Canada asked the Liberals to make a commitment to universal healthcare... the Liberals couldn't bend... so the NDP had no choice to withdraw support... the NDP have always been on a higher road... but ultimately it was the Conservatives and the Bloc separatists who conspired together... both haters of Canada... the Conservatives moreso....
  5. It's big news on the North Korean division of the CBC.... Happy New Year
  6. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good. It concerned me when you were maintaining that the police were above reproach... fascism is no laughing matter... and un-Canadian... and this is why Canada will move even further to the left with this election... we have no need of an american-style police state...
  7. You must be joking... only fascists hold their police above reproach... the RCMP must always be watched... and held accountable... Canadians are not going to elect a Conservative anything... wait for it...
  8. stop torturing us with your bad grammar and potty mouth...
  9. Scandal... what scandal?... yaawwnnnThe RCMP has stated that there is no evidence whatsoever against anyone... why the RCMP have chosen the middle of an election campaign to announce this is puzzling... First we have the White House interfering in our election... now the RCMP... hhmmm... after the election, perhaps the RCMP should be "investigated"... Wow... if this is all in three years, then that is great... and just investigations, no charges?... fantastic... we run a surprisingly clean country...
  10. Street gang culture in the United States dates back as far as the 1920s. The most notorious of the modern gangs, the Crips, was founded in 1969 as a product of youthful admiration for the Black Panthers and other political movements. Since the death of Tookie Williams has been all over the news lately, I took the liberty of looking these things up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There were street gangs in ancient Rome. I'm talking about the culture that has arisen in the US because of the high incarceration rates among American Blacks. If you are so interested in doing research, you should check out the current level of incarceration in the US - overall and non-white. Surprisingly high. Shocking, actually.
  11. Mouseland As told by Tommy Douglas in 1944 It's the story of a place called Mouseland. Mouseland was a place where all the little mice lived and played, were born and died. And they lived much the same as you and I do. They even had a Parliament. And every four years they had an election. Used to walk to the polls and cast their ballots. Some of them even got a ride to the polls. And got a ride for the next four years afterwards too. Just like you and me. And every time on election day all the little mice used to go to the ballot box and they used to elect a government. A government made up of big, fat, black cats. Now if you think it strange that mice should elect a government made up of cats, you just look at the history of Canada for last 90 years and maybe you'll see that they weren't any stupider than we are. Now I'm not saying anything against the cats. They were nice fellows. They conducted their government with dignity. They passed good laws--that is, laws that were good for cats. But the laws that were good for cats weren't very good for mice. One of the laws said that mouseholes had to be big enough so a cat could get his paw in. Another law said that mice could only travel at certain speeds--so that a cat could get his breakfast without too much effort. All the laws were good laws. For cats. But, oh, they were hard on the mice. And life was getting harder and harder. And when the mice couldn't put up with it any more, they decided something had to be done about it. So they went en masse to the polls. They voted the black cats out. They put in the white cats. Now the white cats had put up a terrific campaign. They said: "All that Mouseland needs is more vision." They said:"The trouble with Mouseland is those round mouseholes we got. If you put us in we'll establish square mouseholes." And they did. And the square mouseholes were twice as big as the round mouseholes, and now the cat could get both his paws in. And life was tougher than ever. And when they couldn't take that anymore, they voted the white cats out and put the black ones in again. Then they went back to the white cats. Then to the black cats. They even tried half black cats and half white cats. And they called that coalition. They even got one government made up of cats with spots on them: they were cats that tried to make a noise like a mouse but ate like a cat. You see, my friends, the trouble wasn't with the colour of the cat. The trouble was that they were cats. And because they were cats, they naturally looked after cats instead of mice. Presently there came along one little mouse who had an idea. My friends, watch out for the little fellow with an idea. And he said to the other mice, "Look fellows, why do we keep on electing a government made up of cats? Why don't we elect a government made up of mice?" "Oh," they said, "he's a Bolshevik. Lock him up!" So they put him in jail. But I want to remind you: that you can lock up a mouse or a man but you can't lock up an idea.
  12. It is often said that democracy is about accountability... of the government to the people... I think we do quite well in this on a provincial level... Federally, times are quite troubling, especially with Quebec again showing its spots... And this next election probably will not change anything... Oddly enough, the federal government's best opposition is the provinces... and maybe the media... Go figure...
  13. How can you explain a similar type of problem in the lower mainland of British Columbia (Surrey, Van, etc)? The gangs there are of East Indian and Asian descent. Their parents are anything but poor single mothers. Most of them come from privileged backgrounds – either middle class or wealthy families having both parents and even extended families. This problem arises from popular culture that glorifies gang membership and all the cheap thrills and unearned money that accompany it. I’m sure we’ve all heard the gansta rappers talk about their bling and hos and whatnot. There is an entire subculture that most of us cannot even begin to understand. This gangsta culture arose about twenty years ago in the United States. It is a direct result of Ronald Regan’s so called war on drugs. It was really a war on the American people. More specifically it was a war on Black Americans – which is what it was all about. So many Black Americans were arrested or incarcerated that incarceration itself lost its stigma – in fact it became a rite of passage. The incarceration of nonviolent drug offenders has had a devastating effect on the social fabric of Black America. Prison is the perfect place to make better criminals. This American-inspired culture has been transmitted by popular media to much of the Western world and beyond – Canada is no exception. Add to that a free-flow of guns over the US-Can border and we have arrived at where we are now. This problem was created by conservative policies not by liberal policies.
  14. Lovely post... thank you for your tolerance... It's a wonderful thing to read the New Testament... I recommend a modern English translation... I see no reason to be bogged down by older versions... but folks should read them as well... but later... we are so lucky to know Jesus and his ministry... Christmas is a very old holiday... long before the birth of the Christ... even thousands of years before in Europe... it's always been a beautiful thing to renew and celebrate our connections between folk and God... the renewal of the day's length from the darkness of winter... For me it is always a time for connections between family.. Halifax to Moncton to Montreal to Toronto to Calgary to Vancouver to Victoria... We don't all send parcels to each other... and we don't all telephone each other at this time of the year.... but enough of us do so to hang us all together... not to mention those of us who may be in Australia or Europe... or moving back home from the shame of the United States... it's surprising how widespead a small humble family can become... I wish you all a nice Christmas and New Year's holiday... and soon boom!... Chinese New Year... fat-choy!! after this day (this whole week actually)... i feel like a fat something...
  15. That's very sad... what kind of a person would say that about a Canadian Christian church on Christmas Eve? Your heart must be as hardened as your prostate...
