Americans vs Canadians -What's the difference?
paxamericana replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Trust me they won’t. Food security is a top priority for any goverment. Well except Canada it seems. more calorie means more humans and more capital. We can produce food cheaply at scale. Is the point. Why some individuals make poor lifestyle habits is irrelevant. Contrast that to third world Canada where food insecurity is at an all time high. Yes in America we have first world problems. -

Don’t need those type of fertilizer. Nitrogen is a byproduct of oil production, the us is self sufficient in that particular input. -

Brics not so much, it’s a bunch of competing interest that won’t amount to any real threat. None of those countries posses the means or ability to enforce a currency of their own. It’s crypto that is a real threat. Hence US government crackdown on none sanctioned crypto. That being said, like Lybia , Venezuela Iraq and now Iran. Any threat to the petrol dollar will incur a regime change or national dissolution. That includes the Chinese who are target number one. -

Anything that threatens the petrol dollar is a threat to America and warrant overwhelming force. -

Americans vs Canadians -What's the difference?
paxamericana replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
The glacial ice shaved off the organic soil from Canada and deposited it in America. Hence, America has the lion share of fertile land (more yield per amount of input) for cropping. Higher calorie production at a lower price making industrial food production at scale possible. These are not accidents. The borders are the way it is for a reason, we gave Canada and Mexico the less arable land with less defensible parts. -

It’s this word that you all keep saying but not understanding. The days of a globalist America is over. It’s Make America interest first. There is no global interest. -

The Iranian terrorist isn't going to let that go, that's their only leverage point. The increase in energy cost is no where near the level it would have been had America acted anytime earlier. We are now energy independent, yes prices goes up but at least we can even buy it. The shortages of the 1970 oil strangle hold the middle east has on America is no more. That's what this war signifies. The longer the straight stays closed, the worse off it will be for the Chinese, European and Asians. Not so much America. And lastly, the president has authority with the flick of a pen, no committee , no congress, the ability to shut off all export. So prices are only reflective of American participation in the global energy market. Not it's absence. -
Yes, America will foreclose on Canada like a failing business. Think of Canada like a 3 star hotel charging 5 star rate. It’s living off a reputation built 3 decades ago. You remember it being fancy but when you check in, the pool is closed, the room service is over priced and understaffed. That’s Canada economy in a nut shell. It’s a high tax, high cost jurisdiction that no longer deliver the premium services or high wages that once justified the bill. Yup, Canadian and foreign investors are checking out and coming to America. The pace has accelerated even more this decade. https://www.bankofcanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/swp2024-49.pdf https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadians-moving-to-the-us-hits-10-year-high-1.7218479

Fake news. It doesn’t. Iran is on its last leg. They had three potential leverage point , terror proxy, threatening gulf state to put pressure on America, closing straight of Hormuz. The first two leverage point failed face flat. Their only leverage now is closing the straight which hurts China the most who buys the most oil in that region. Over 30% of Chinese oil import goes through that straight. -

It benefits North America. People are rethinking where is a safe investment and the only place is going to be the western hemisphere. So on the contrary, Canada should support this war along with Mexico. The Middle East is a powder keg. One way or another Middle East oil disruption was bound to happen. -

That's just the fleet carrier. America have amphibious assault type carriers as well. I would argue America's true military strength isn't just in her Carrier. It's actually our oversea deployed forces, their airwing and civilian aviation program. We can bring to bear a fully equipped fighting force of tens of thousands anywhere in the world within a few days. Hours if that location has a working runway.
