Well I think most people would agree that if a person feels female in a male body or the reverse, and this feeling has been persistent for most or all of one’s life, then of course if there’s a way to help medically, this is apple pie stuff. Support the identity and self-esteem of people. I don’t see the CPC or PPC messing with that, except a few candidates on religious grounds or some belief, which is their right. No government in Canada would or should strip trans or LGBT rights. Of course! That’s why we have a Charter. The main thing is that everyone on the left and right is free to express their ideas. The people will support what seems fair, as long as they can express themselves and vote freely. I hope we still have that in Canada. Not sure anymore. I believe Canadians are fair-minded people.

This is why you have no credibility. You don’t think the current government approach is overreach and mistreats people? You never even bring persuasive counter-arguments. It doesn’t matter. Weak arguments and mean-spirited jabs speak for themselves.

Of course racism is bad and must be called out. Stop shouting that the sky is blue. Where racism is evident it must always be called out. Don’t cry racism every time people raise legitimate concerns about government policy. For the vast majority of protesters the concerns are vaccine mandates and respecting Charter rights like medical discretion. The Charter IS the guarantor of the rights and freedoms of minorities, including racialized people! Of course! Don’t play the cynical and false game of painting everyone with the same brush. That’s how movements like Solidarity in Poland got discredited, as extremist threats to the state. The Maoist Cultural Revolution labeled the opposition counter-revolutionary.

A Conservative government would be much better for the country right now. I used to be a Liberal. I’m looking at facts on the ground right now.

Who is, in fact, overthrowing Parliamentary democracy? My only fear of the overthrow of our constitutional monarchy stems from current Liberal government policy and approaches.

You’re living under totalitarianism. The governing party claims to be liberal-democrat but they are the de facto opposite. I’d love for us all to hold hands and talk, but the Trudeau government has expressed extreme contempt for the opposition and won’t even discuss concerns. In Trudeau’s Canada the opposition are “racists and misogynists”.

The majority of Canadians oppose the Trudeau government but the party that got the most seats has the government, even though more people voted Conservative. The NDP are propping up the Liberal government. They refuse to acknowledge Trudeau’s complete mismanagement of our country. They think propping up this government gives them power they wouldn’t have by joining the opposition. That’s fine, but Canadians won’t forget the tyranny they’re supporting. It will really backfire.

The blockades were gone before the Emergencies Act. An injunction ended the night honking. All of this could have ended sooner without such draconian measures had government bothered to treat these people as humans with valid concerns. Trudeau simply insulted them, walked away, refused to even discuss removing mandates, and brought violence and charges upon the protesters, including the freezing of bank accounts. It’s the most irresponsible government leadership in Canada that I’ve ever seen.

It’s all about defending the vulnerable, standing up for constitutional rights, protecting Canadians. We need to look at the policies government has imposed and really ask who they’re serving. I’d like to think our elected officials are thinking about all Canadians and not just self-preservation, right Trudeau and NDP?

Enjoy the fenced capital full of police. The bouncy castles, music, camaraderie, dancing, unity, and hope have been replaced by the tense atmosphere of a police state. But yes, the horns were a nuisance. I mean the injunction curtailed them, but why not impose martial law anyway, beat up some peaceful protesters, and hassle citizens and shopkeepers? The dejected protesters and the truckers who took great personal risk and paid great expense to push back against oppressive policies can return home dejected. Still no promise from government for the removal of vaccine mandates. Martial law is still in place though the blockades are gone and Ottawa is emptied of protesters. You won, right?

A woman was trampled and it appears she broke her clavicle. It doesn’t matter. There are now countless images of protesters being hit or beaten up, even removed from the scene so violence could be done on them. Thankfully even some of this was caught on camera. I don’t blame most of the police for this, but yes and no, because if these police chose to come to Ottawa then they own responsibility. Again, all of what’s happening is in a context of so called emergency. Much coercion is at play. Many people are dupes in this. I consider you a bit of a sucker in this too. I’m not going to have a contest with you over the amount of reading I’ve done, my academic background, or my other work. Think what you want. I know enough about history and politics to see what’s underway and the profound risk to Canadian sovereignty and democracy.

Well exactly. If he persists on this path, trying to publicly vilify, discredit, and criminalize what could be half the population of Canada, well that’s a recipe for a failed state. Trudeau will not meet with protesters or their leaders. He will not discuss a timeline for or even promise the removal of vaccine mandates and vaccine passports. He has brought in martial law and is freezing the assets of protesters. This is pure fascism.

The people in the CPC and Bernier would never try to oppress minorities. They would not alienate trans people. They’re trying to restore minority protections from the Charter because they made the accurate connection between protecting the medical discretion of the unvaccinated and the civil rights of visible minorities, LGBTQ, Muslims, Sikhs, Jews, Christians, etc. What was fascinating about the protests was seeing “my body, my choice” feminists walking arm in arm with rural Christians. What’s at stake is our very free expression and minority rights. That’s why civil liberties organizations are freaking out right now. They know that our government is pissing on constitutionally protected rights. Some on the left, especially in the US, are calling our government out. Bill Maher was really good on this, but where is the discussion in Canada? The opposition have been branded racist and misogynist by our PM, full stop, no discussion.

I noticed ads reminding Canadians that their bank deposits are insured, but what does that mean in a country where people who say they oppose government policy can and are having their bank accounts frozen? This fiat policy of following the money that Freeland explained and wants to make permanent is a clear fascist assault. This is a modern Kristalnacht, especially when the names of protest donors are hacked and publicized so people can be publicly humiliated and treated like terrorists by our government. Most of the public aren’t aware of what’s happened and its impacts. The steady diet of pablum from state-funded media is keeping a lid on it and vilifying the Freedom Convoy. So is much US media. John Oliver last night played the same game, ridiculing the protesters and playing some ridiculous white supremacist rant from Pat King. Most of us know that the protests were about restoring constitutional rights (which cannot be taken under Canadian law) and removing vaccine mandates.

Yes, and what’s happening in Ukraine isn’t so different from what’s happening here: An oppressive government is eliminating the opposition. There are honest truly liberal-democratic voices in Canada trying to restore freedoms in the Conservative Party and PPC: Bergen, Stubbs, Polievre, Bernier, etc. These representatives are the last truly centrist or even centre-left voices in Canada. They’re trying to restore freedoms, but they’re being rewarded for this by being called racists, misogynists, and extremists. The NDP representatives have completely turned their backs on the workers they claim to support. They’re preserving themselves by latching onto coalition government with the Liberals, who are a completely fascist outfit now Trudeau and Freeland have bought into the horrific oppressive external takeover of Canada by ideologues in the World Economic Forum. Klaus Schwab bragged about penetrating the Canadian Cabinet a week ago. The Biden administration is giving all of this a pass, so far tacitly backing Trudeau, or at least refusing to intervene. Many Republicans know what’s happening and are trying to call it out, but they’re immediately discredited by mainstream media and officialdom as borderline or total insurrectionists. The Eastern European and many Chinese-Canadians know exactly what’s underway in Canada because they saw it in places like Romania and Hong Kong when the crackdowns happened. There are some brave voices reminding Canadians that government is there to serve the people and that it’s illegal to stomp on our constitutional rights. Some believe we can remove the tyranny. I hope and pray that they’re right. America, look what’s happening on your door step. What happened to NATO article 5? Britain, we are together in the Commonwealth and Elizabeth is our Queen. Our Governor General is absent. Canadian sovereignty is being hijacked.
