  1. “There are a lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers. What do you think? Our country’s so innocent?”
  2. Does that make them bad hombres like Putin?
  3. Dreaming of murdering 100's of thousands or millions of people in an instant is not a sign of stability or sanity.
  4. No other desire. We had a similar problem with a city of 2.8 million, not a nation of 330 million. Good thing a mayor doesn't have nuclear launch codes, and only concerns himself with garbage pickup and not laws of the land, etc.
  5. The issues of Lincoln and FDR were not about gross incompetence and corruption.
  6. Yes, but the turmoil was about the issues of the day (slavery, north/south division) and not the competence and corrupt nature of the new administration.
  7. A very sad day indeed. I discovered Stuart MacLean many years ago when I spent a lot of time in the car, such a welcome change from what you usually find on the radio. After chancing upon his show several times, I took to downloading old podcasts just to get some more. I can't help but think that was what radio must have been like back in its heydays of the 1930's. I can just picture entire families crowding around the warmth of an old tube radio listening to the adventures of Dave & Morley after supper. Christmas Turkey has never been the same since. While I don't keep a bucket list, if I did then unfortunately I wouldn't be able to check off what would surely be an item. I have long wanted to go to one of his roadshows, but whenever I heard the schedule it would have already passed through my part of the country. I don't own, nor have I read any of his books, but I can't imaging reading one of his stories without that unmistakable voice.
  8. Probably not, it is extremely messed up. A few years back I lived in an electoral district with over 8 times the population of another electoral district in the country, my vote was basically worth about 12% that of others. You can find the official Elections Canada description, which is equally confusing, here. What I also find interesting is the Constitution Act (see section 37) on the official laws website specifies 308 electoral districts, as it was in 1999 update but the current 338 is not included. I wonder if our current Parliament is actually unconstitutional because Harper didn't correct the Constitution Act after he redrew the electoral boundaries.
  9. Cool trick, sounds like something Frederick Douglass would do.
  10. Today we learned that Bibi and Kushner are old family friends.

Yesterday we learned that Trudeau and Castro were old family friends.

       That's epic bush_cheney!

  11. Is that like having your election campaign coordinate with Russia, and then undermine the previous administration while they are still in office? There is more red than the tie.
  12. Actually it is quite the opposite. It is making a bold statement that a woman can sit at the desk of the Presidency of the United States.
  13. Great picture, it seems Justin was the one who suggested that Ivanka take the seat in the President's chair
  14. On the campaign trail, Donald Trump called China "the single greatest currency manipulator that's ever been on this planet" and his first-day priority would be to label them as such and slap on a 45 percent tariff on Chinese imports. ....still waiting
  15. Standing in the checkout line again? Yes, I love Trump's comment today about leaks in the Whitehouse. He said it went way back, but it was much worse today. Gee, I wonder what happened.
  16. I'm not sure I follow. From a destructive standpoint, there would be significant difference of an A-bomb version there. I don't know enough about Israel geography to guess how far inland and what damage it could cause. If you are talking about fallout, then I'm not sure what political objective it would accomplish.
  17. Stuart McLean passed away today, very sad.

  18. Lots of spinning to achieve that. North Korea's first two tests were plutonium, which indicates implosion due to the Pu-240 pre-detination problem.
  19. Your opinion only, not shared by anyone who actually is not extremely biased.
  20. gun or implosion? Two very different A-bomb implementations, and quite different from an engineering standpoint.
  21. Lot's of lovers of Israel here, and haters of Canada. Time to move.
  22. Extreme vetting - can't make it work for a Cabinet (dozens), how are we supposed to think Trump can do it for tens of millions.

Certainly didn't work for Trudeau's Iranian minister !

Well at least I guess it doesn't look quite as bad as having to fire him ala Flynn.

  23. No, and he didn't implement Harper's fool idea for financial market deregulation while he was in opposition. When Harper did come into power however, he did double the government backed insurance money for private mortgage insurers. Thankfully there were enough other protections in the system to protect us from that dumb move.
  24. Canada had a long history of balance in the support in the middle east, and Harper changed to to one of singular support for Israel. Yes, that did cause Canada a loss of standing with Muslim countries, and for the first time ever lost the rotating security council seat. Thanks to Paul Martin. If Harper had his way in the lead-up to the 2008 recession, he would have destroyed this country. He wanted to allow Canadian financial institutions to gamble with their depositors money.
