Obama's Press Conference Mistake
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No. It was the media that came up that fabrication. Not Crowley. -
I'm sure she will be.
-
I'm not sure how you arrive at that conclusion. Especially since Palin will be campaigning for Republicans in the fall of 2010. Which, according to my math, is much further than 6 months from now. I guess it's just another case of you being wrong, once again. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Liberals slapping back against Tories' partisan flyer tactics
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The difference is, that Tories use money they've raised, while Liberals, as usual, revert back to the pockets of taxpayers. It's sponsorship all over again. -
It's even more hilarious comming from you.

Perhaps you're just not familiar with reality. Toronto Workers to Keep Banked Sick Days, Get Raise, Globe Says July 28 (Bloomberg) -- Toronto’s unionized workers, who reached a tentative deal with the city to end a five-week strike yesterday, will still be able to bank sick days and will get raises of 6 percent over three years, the Globe and Mail said. Bloomberg Hmm, let's see. A deep, world-wide recession, coupled with a large drop in the City of Toronto's revenue stream, apparently equals a 6% raise! Gee, where can I get that kind of deal? Where do I sign? Again, they're totally insulated from reality. .

Good post. It's just another example of the public sector feeding at the trough of the private sector. Public sector employees get very well paid, and enjoy considerably better benefits on the backs of the productive private sector workers. As companies try and survive and compete during a world wide recession, they're having to concede some pay, and some benefits. However, public sector employees seem to come off unharmed from such recessions. They continue to ask and receive pay raises, and benefit increases. And how do they achieve these increaes? By dipping into the pockets of the private sector. It's pretty disgusting. Not true. European countries are, and have been some of the slowest growing economies of the industrialized world, with higher deficits, and higher unemployment, with lesser productivity. Just once I'd like the public sector to be affected by a recession in the same way the private, productive sector of society is. Maybe then, they'd have a real understanding of what it's like to have to compete and survive in a global economy, without the luxury of somebody elses pocket to pick in order to cushion the blow.

Using the so-called logic of some of the posters in this thread. A large 1980's cell phone must be significantly better then the puny 2 year old cell phone I'm currently using.

You seem to be stuck on stupid, and incredibly intellectually dishonest. Shame on you.

Liberals quadruple fundraising totals
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Conservatives are still raising more money, from a larger donor pool. However, I'll give the Liberals credit for rebounding. Although, rebounding from Dion shouldn't have been very difficult anyways. Why the Liberals nominated him I'll never understand. -
You're right. This is a great step. I'm hoping we can finally protect our eastern and western waters from foreign over-fishers, as well as protect our legitimate rights up north.
-
Ok, I'll try and explain this again. Maybe if I go slowly, you'll understand better. Alaska's oil isn't owned by any oil companies. They pay for the rights to extract it. This money is then sent to all Alaskan citizens, because it technically belongs to everyone in the state. Even non-oil workers. Hence, the rebate. I hope this helps.
-
Why are you being so obtuse?
-
You're obviously grossly misinformed, so hopefully I can help. The oil in the state of Alaska belongs to everyone. That's why every citizen is entitled by law, to a small share of the profits. So your claim about "spreading the wealth" is nonsense. Obama thinks everyone's profits belong to everybody. And if he determines that you're making too much money, well then, it's going to be confiscated by him, and spread around to who he deems worthy, no matter what state you live in.
-
Not really. My favourite part of her speech was this... "Don't forget Alaskans, you are the resource owners per our constitution, and that's why for instance last year when oil prices soared and state coffers swelled, but you were smacked with high energy prices, we sent you the energy rebate. See, it's your money and I've always believed that you know how to better spend it than government can spend it."

Harper's director of communications stepping down
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Every Conservative is an unpopular figure amoung most of the mainstream media in Canada. But especially when they're in power. Maybe there's a scandal, right? -

I've already posted the statement from Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino in an earlier post. Perhaps you're the one who needs to pay attention. -
"Birthers" movement problem for GOP
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Are you saying that Obama may have been born without a doctor present? -
That's really cool. I'm a huge Detroit Tigers fan, so back when I was a kid, I was enthralled with his run at 50 homeruns back in 1990. Hopefully him and his son (who currently plays for the Brewers) will get back on better terms soon.

"Birthers" movement problem for GOP
Shady replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well, if he's born in a hospital, then shouldn't there kinda be a doctor present? -
I thought the speech was great. Just because you disagree with her (and probably hate her), doesn't mean it's a bad speech. I'll just chalk it up to more Palin derangement syndrome.

Fetal Short-term Memory Found In 30-week-old Fetuses
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Well, I don't accept your premise that an unborn child is tantamount to a cow, pig, chicken, or any other common farm animal.
