Yeah because the left never does that. He followed up the insult by saying.

Canadian economy takes another dive this month
Boges replied to mentalfloss's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think the job figures in the US are an encouraging sign. And their improvement will ultimately trickle down to us. I wouldn't expect robust job figures in the first few months of the year anyway. Anyone with a retail-related job would know this time of year is rather lean. BTW unemployment did drop 2 percentage points to 7.4. And for the year Canada is up around 100,000+ jobs compared to this time last year. -
http://www.newstalk1010.com/News/localnews/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10357583 I'm not a cigarette smoker but I do enjoy the occasional cigar. I don't smoke it in my house but on nice days I take my dog for a walk and have a cigar or walk a few clicks to a cafe nearby and smoke a cigar along the way. Or walk by a baseball diamond and watch a baseball game while walking my dog and smoking a cigar. Or I have a tumbler of scotch and cigar in my back patio. Can anyone really provide convincing evidence that any of those smoking activities really harm people that come within, say 10 feet of me. Or people that pass me on the sidewalk? If governments go that far perhaps they should just ban smoking and give up the tax revenue.

It probably wasn't the best idea for Benedict Stinz to go to this meeting. It's an argument I hear on the radio all the time. Many of the people that are advocating LRT's to Scarborough already have Subways in their ward (Stinz included) so they are making decisions for citizens that they don't represent.

Was In and Out even an issues the other parties made a big deal about? I doubt it because people didn't really want to hear about news from two elections past. They wanted to hear about the economy. The three main things the Liberals raged about were the Jails, Corporate Taxes and the F-35's. That got them nowhere nationally. But people on this site still bitch about those issues as if John Q Public cares.
-
Dude you have no evidence for this. Who's throwing feces against the wall? I haven't heard anyone call for a new election in MSM, even the Star and the CBC. Does EC even have the power to call another election? To even approach that being needed you'd have to prove the Tories cheated and won in 30 or more ridings.

Sorta feel that way about Ontario giving McDalton another mandate. But whatcha gonna do? Speaking of which, when people bitch about Harper getting a majority with 39% popular vote. Dalton McGuinty came one seat short of a majority and only receive a percentage point or two more popular support than the Hudak PCs. The system works both way.

How sexist of you. The government is consistent on this. Air Canada is important to Canada's economy so they'll try to keep it going as long as it can. Today they didn't force them back to work but they delayed any work stoppage until after March Break. That's very pragmatic considering how many Canadians would be effected by a work stoppage on one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Air Canada is getting beat down by its competitors, it can't compete like it used to but it still is Canada's only truly international Airline. But that's a different thread.

I'm not going to defend Dean Del Mastro. The most damning reports about this from the CPC are things they've claimed about the opposition that haven't been accurate like the calling centres in the US. But the truth is the opposition hasn't provided any convincing evidence regarding an overarching scandal either. Every day at QP they are just "throwing some feces up against the wall" as you put it and seeing what gains traction. Two recent polls have proven it hasn't gain much traction at all. And today's developments at Air Canada have taken this issue away from the front page.

So you've unearthed evidence yourself Woodwarlphan and Berolphanstein.
-
High-larious What evidence have you put forward that the Tories were behind this? Or behind a broad Robo-calling scandal outside of Guelph for that matter?
-
It's funny this happened in Toronto. The previous administration flirted with the idea of allowing non-citizens from voting. http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/648848 That, of course is a left-wing initiative because we all know immigrants are hard-wired to be Liberal. Who's to say Liberals didn't get immigrants in the riding to vote when they were ineligible?
-
How, pray tell, can you prove what party an unregistered voter voted for? It's the job of the scrutineers to determine that anyone that votes is registered to vote in that riding.
-
Recent polls don't support this theory.
-
See the type of sensationalism seen in this thread, if brought to the less politically in-tune public, will ultimately do more damage that good to the opposition, I predict. Calling him a despot and actually contemplating the idea that the election is null and void is a pretty extremist view. If it's found that bad stuff happened in Guelph then how exactly does that effect the CPC as a National governing party and the public's perception of it? Want to do a By-election in that riding? Go nuts! Only assumptions can be made about their overall contempt for democracy regarding this issue.

I'll admit this guy sounds like a giant D-bag.

Well no, but they want to use our currency. I wonder if they could potentially become a province or at least a Canadian Territory. They have an excellent Junior Hockey program. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pBR42NL-8qA/TUJppaJ4QXI/AAAAAAAAAC4/mPwRq_Zt25E/s1600/The-Mighty-Ducks-2.jpg

Elistism FTW. As I anticipated it was more because of the layout than the actual content. Oh and instead of advertising BMW X3's they advertise used cars. How low-class of them.
-
Rogers now requires you to pay for it like a specialty channel. As far as I know Bell and Cogeco both have it included with a basic cable package.
-
This claim is rather hilarious because no one is asked to pay extra for CBC News or CTV Newsnet or City Panic 24 for that matter. How many people would pay extra for those channels when most of their content is available online? You're forced to pay for other news channels in your carriage fees.
-
When you say shlock journalism are you referring to the layout of the paper or the actual content? I think when you look at some of the sensational claims you see from the Star you could make the same claim about them. But they layout their paper in a nice broadsheet format so it's cool. You can't think one should take columnists like Heather Mallick, Joe Fiorito, Chris Hume or Linda McQuaig seriously? Oh and The Sun devotes more than 8-pages to sports. The Neanderthals! Sun News does basically go after the same low-hanging fruit when they discuss their issues but I think that's their mission statement. They would say that other media outlets give you the "same-old, same-old" so they're trying to talk about things the CBC and CTV don't.
-
Just because you hate Sun News doesn't mean the people that read their papers and watch their programming can't be rational conservatives. In fact the spewed hatred towards Sun News is equally as monotonous as those who, by default, think anything the CBC does is Pinko Commie Liberal Crap.

So your anecdote that the CPC as a political party doesn't respect democracy? Did you call EC to complain about this call?
