  1. You can opine about that all you want, but as with my tazing theory, you have no evidence to support your theory. And if the charges are meant to pacify a group of outraged people then what will happen when he's acquitted? The fact that charges were laid on Zimmerman didn't "pacify" people once it became apparent to everyone that the DA didn't have a reasonable chance of conviction. People were still outraged for a variety of reasons. I would be just as outraged if charges were laid just because the SIU thought they'd be criticized if they didn't. It's a waste of public money. Now public pressure might change the way police handle these situations in the future and that's the goal of the investigation Police Chief Bill Blair announced last week.
  2. BTW just doing a cursory Google search. I could only find one story saying that the investigation of the Python killing has switched to a murder investigation and it's not even from a Canadian source. Not surprisingly, Reptile forums are picking up the story. http://www.fox.com.au/fox-news-feed/2013/8/snake-deaths-now-a-murder-investigation/
  3. And "perhaps" they tazed him in an attempt to cover up the need to shoot Yatim 9 times.
  4. Good point. It's like wanting to own a Tiger. These aren't dogs they are wild animals and keeping them in an inclosure in an apartment is, quite frankly, cruel.
  5. Some anti-police loon are. But they don't really need a good reason to protest. I've said, from all the evidence I've seen, the shooting seemed like overkill. Now I don't have all the evidence. But it's pretty unique that a single shooting spawns 3 separate investigations. That can't all be due to pressure from a fringe group of anti-police activists. And independent investigation has come to the conclusion that there's enough evidence to charge the officer in question with second degree murder. Do you have any evidence to suggest there is not good reason for them to lay those charges?
  6. With the revelations about Mac Harb can Trudeau 2.0 really act all indignant in QP about Senators expenses?
  7. Don't forget the 5 month prorogation of the Former Ontario Liberal Premiere Dalton McGuinty last October to do a leadership contest because he couldn't handle to heat from his own scandal.
  8. If all they went on was the Youtube video then what has the SIU been doing for the past month? I'm guessing they actually got to see the TTC surveillance footage that would have shown how much of a threat Yatim actually posed, especially after the first 3 shots were fired.
  9. But one could also say that charges may never have come if there wasn't a Youtube video. Police officers can meet to get their story straight before talking to the SIU. The video ensures that they can't lie about what happened. Like say, and I know I'm a tin-foil hatter for even proposing such a thing, perhaps they tazed him so they could say they tried that first and they shot him only after that didn't work. Without a video how could we prove their story wrong?
  10. Dunno, how many people are crazy enough to want to own a 14-foot snake that eats crocodiles in the wild? LEGALLY!
  11. Obama didn't do anything to facilitate the removal of Mubarak unlike with Libya. Lessons learned with Syria because the West (other than Russia who's quasi-West) has let that war fester for awhile.
  12. No but that Youtube video caused an SIU investigation that has now lead to a serious 2nd degree murder charge.Had the video not been made public, I doubt we'd see the charge, let alone the 3 investigations that have been created in the wake of this shooting.
  13. Had this story not happened it would still be my opinion people shouldn't own such snakes. This story just gave me a reason to put forth my opinion on the matter. Remember this snake was illegal to own in a private residence.
  14. And those people are idiots. But their typical anti-cop outrage shouldn't be used to ignore the concerns of many people.
  15. The media reported a story about 2 young boys suddenly dying allegedly from a snake that was illegally owned in an adjacent apartment? SHOCKING!!!!
  16. But you have no evidence to prove that this was an example of the SIU pleasing the rabbit masses do you? Perhaps if you listen to talk radio or listen to columnists but that's their jobs. But do you have evidence of reporting that is biased against the officers.
  17. If the officer gets off or is convicted, I would hope the evidence that were currently aren't privy to will be made public. Though the Zimmerman verdict outraged many, people were more outraged at the law that got him off and not the fact that the jury got it wrong.
  18. Well there no reason to own any animal unless you plan on eating it. I think people can tell the difference between domestic companion animals and wild apex predators.
  19. I wonder how many would have died if every other home had a 14 foot python in it like they do with dogs. It's a false comparison. Even if the snake didn't kill these kids, there no reason to own such an animal.
  20. Baby steps, get the murderer first. These charges would never have been laid had someone not been taping the shooting. The cops would have gotten their story straight and the SIU wouldn't have been able to properly investigate it.
  21. Apparently the MB are targeting Coptic Christians as part of their "protest". http://www.globalresearch.ca/egypt-al-qaeda-and-muslim-brotherhood-mobs-burn-christian-coptic-churches/5346207 Are they really the victims of a savage military dictatorship like it would appear the media is portraying them as? Seems like they are more of the aggressors. Again none of this is a surprise.
  22. I wonder how apologists for him are going to spin this. It's not a conviction but second degree is a pretty severe charge. I was thinking about manslaughter. Maybe they're just aiming high. :-D I can't see the SIU going forward with charges without more than enough evidence to convict though.
  23. Yeah the revolt is being squashed. The Sun has been trying to frame a leadership review at this point as dangerous. The Tories and NDP are working together to put forward another contempt motion. There's evidence that Liberals tried to pressure the speaker into making a certain decision on the last contempt motion. A big no no. I could see Wynne pulling a Dalton and claiming the House is untenable and calling an election. Chances are pretty close to zero they win a majority so if the PCs choke again then do a leadership review.
  24. Well the news out now is that the police are investigating the chance that this was actually murder. I guess it's weird the snake didn't bit first. I don't know what's more unbelievable, a snake silently kills two boys in their sleep or someone kills them thinking they can make it look like a snake did it. That's something you'd see on an episode of CSI.
