  1. The fact that the snake used the HVAC to get into the apartment shows that these animals aren't your typical pets.
  2. Preaching to the choir. But if they're going to do it to liqour and tobacco, they'll do it to MJ.
  3. Cuz no one lights kale on fire inhales the smoke and gets high off of it. Wouldn't it be awesome if collard greens got you high?
  4. The theory was that it was afraid. However I'm unsure what's fear inducing about sleeping children.
  5. How many people own Boa Constrictors? Are you also taking into consideration the ecological problem non-native pythons are causing in the wild because people can no longer care for them so they release them into the wild. http://www.wuft.org/news/2013/05/02/python-challenge/ My OP wasn't focusing on snakes solely but all exotic animals that are apex predators in the wild. I would compare dog bit statistics to car accidents. There are so many dogs and so many drivers that statistically it's a more likely way to die. You're far more likely to die from a dog bite than from a terrorist attack, does that mean terrorism shouldn't be taken seriously?
  6. It'll be really interesting if Trudeau 2.0 really wants to make this a wedge issue, since the CPC seem to have no interest in legalization.
  7. Because exponentially more people have dogs than giant deadly snakes. It's like that argument that more Labs bite people than Pit Bulls. Well Labs are the AKC's number one breed. When a Lab or a Poodle bite you, you may need stitches, when a Pit Bull bites you, you may need a new arm or you're loved ones will be planning a funeral.
  8. Seems like there are many other ways to cover up the murder 2 children then say a snake did it. You'd think when an autopsy is done it would be either consistent with death from a python or not. But who knows, they still should be illegal.
  9. Exactly! That's why legalization isn't this big liberation people think. Why not just decriminalize, effectively you'll get the same result. People who produce take on the risk of producing. (cuz I know they won't want to pay taxes) and you don't stand to enrage our largest trading partner to the south. Most smokers I know illegally get their cigs off a reserve now. Governments tax products underground. So the argument that legalization will keep criminals out of the drug trade is a delusional one.
  10. I 100% agree. I do think Legalization of pot will prove to have problems alcohol and tobacco don't have. The first being how easy it is to produce pot. If I can grow pot at home, why would I bother paying the government to produce a regulated and taxed version. Yes I know people make Beer and Wine at home but it's a lot more involved process than growing a plant, most people don't have the space or patience to ferment grapes or grains. Same with growing your own tobacco. I like cigars but making cigars at home isn't something I would try to do. Growing a pot plant or two is something that is a lot harder. The other problem is the difficulty for testing people who try to operate heavy vehicles like say cars high.
  11. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/large-snake-kills-two-children-in-new-brunswick/article13596879/ Not a big government regulation guy but if you feel your life is complete by owning an apex predator you're a tool; it should be illegal. We keep domesticated dogs because they are social animals that we have tamed and made part of our families. Not so with giant snakes. Pythons have become the top predator in Florida because idiots buy them, can't afford keeping an animal that large then let it loose in the wild. The practice of owning exotic predators in places other than zoos should be effectively banned IMHO.
  12. Actually one of the reasons he could be identified is because in the video it's seen that he's being pulled back by other officers. And people uttering his name is audible. Also the fact that he was suspended is an indication that the powers that be suspect he did something wrong. I think evidence supports that at least one of the first 3 rounds hit their target otherwise why would the target be down? He clearly re-aims lower. I'm sorry but even if he still had a knife in his hand he ceased being a threat when he was down an no longer in the doorway. At least he wasn't a threat enough to justify a further 6 rounds.
  13. Or because angry people like to medicate with alcohol. The anecdotal statement that alcohol makes people violent is never going to be something people can use to justify the use of pot. I'm not opposed to more open treatment of pot, but people have to stop defending pot by saying that other legal drugs are worse. People consume alcohol responsibly every day by the millions. Using angry drunks as a way to defend pot use is misguided. It would be the same as someone saying pot is dangerous because it tends to remove motivation in people and leads to obesity.
  14. Because they do things like telling a 17-year-old his company name has to be changed because it sounds too English.
  15. I'm sure banks will fight that to the death because if people are taxing every deposit then people will swiftly move to just asking for cash upfront and holding it under their mattress. Also this would have to completely replace income taxes. And what about when people diversify how they deposit their money. Also how can they enforce people depositing money through proxy accounts?
  16. Well Network TV is solely funded by advertising but the whole premise of cable TV is that it gets much of its funding through your cable subscription. Which could be why there are very few scripted dramas that are critically acclaimed on Network TV. Comedies, Sports and Reality TV is where they get most of their popular shows. The invention of the DVR makes advertising a far less concern to people. Also some of the best scripted dramas come on premium cable channels that don't even show ads. You highlight the major problem with Netflix. It shows series' but unless it's one of their own, you'll have to wait about a year for a new season. They're currently 2 season's behind on the UK Top Gear. My Netflix didn't work on the weekend. I was told this was likely because I had the DNS numbers for the US Netflix and I guess they're cracking down on that so I'm stuck with the Canadian Netflix again.
  17. This whole move towards hoppy bitter IPA's is baffling to me. What people think smooth pilsners and largers are for sissys?
  18. People are going use these results as evidence for anything that defends their opinion. In reality the PCs beating the McGuinty machine in Ottawa South was a long-shot but the scam that is polling made people believe they had a shot. Most people will attribute the PC win in Etobicoke-Lakeshore to the Rob Ford factor and the fact that Holyday is a respected politician by everyone. It's definitely not an endorsement of Tim Hudak. If Holyday wasn't 70 I'd want him to run for leader. Many are saying Hudak is done but who is a decent alternative? Frank Klees? The most interesting result is in London because no one saw the NDP doing what they did. It seems to be an outright condemnation of the Liberals cynical move of nominating a guy who was leading protests against them less than a year ago. I suspect it was a protest vote for the most part, Ken Coran finished a distant 3rd.
  19. This might be it for Hudak. Right now they only stand to win Etobicoke. The NDP won the Southwest Ontario seats by a landslide. PCs chocked in Ottawa. Polling is such BS.
  20. That Ariel Castro guy that had 3 girls kidnapped in his house for more than a decade got 1,000 years to life. Wonder if he would get such a severe sentence in Canada.
  21. Martin is an economic genius for downloading to the provinces. Mike Harris is a monster for downloading to the municipalities.
  22. Dunno, drop the knife.
  23. Launching Tear Gas into that streetcar would have been infinitely better than shooting him 9 times.
  24. 1 glass of alcohol a day isn't exactly a low level of alcohol consumption. What about a cigar a week or so, or on occasion? People can consume these products socially and be fine with it. If someone smoked a joint a day, I'd question the claim that it's not addictive, if you have to do something every day even if it's not a because of a physical compulsion, I'd argue you're addicted. I've tried to reduce the amount of alcohol I consume, 1) because in Ontario is offensively expensive and 2) It's not the healthiest product in the world. But I still enjoy the evening, where I'm not driving, and I'm hanging out with friends and/or family where I can drink to excess. If I should fear cancer 30 years down the line because of that, I'm not living a very fulfilling life.
