  1. The stats are there that show that black people are more likely based on their percentage of the population to be killed by police. But then you'll bring up violent crime stats and how black people are more likely to be involved in violent crime. Though the cases that are getting people upset involve unarmed black people getting killed by the police. Then I'll bring up poverty stats and incarceration for comparable crime stats. Then you'll bring up families without fathers stats or broken home statistics. Etc etc etc. It's a loop. And it doesn't change that this is how black people feel and a white person telling them that they're statistically wrong won't change that.
  2. Who had Sahara Dust next on 2020 calamity BINGO.

  3. Thread Drift. But it does dispell the idea that Trump only opposes illegal immigration. He's not a fan if legal immigration either.
  4. I can see a lot of that. People can't shelter in place forever. We do see a difference in the trajectory of the virus in places that re-opened cautiously and just said "Eff It" I want to go to the Club!
  5. They actually don't need to do that anymore. Lots of Muslim Fundamentalism is developed through the Internet. Canadians went to fight for ISIS. I don't recall any Syrian Refugee committing any acts of Terror in Canada.
  6. True. I'm not seeing the correlation with protests and COVID-19 spikes though. I think it's a lot more to do with people gathering indoors. . . Like in Tulsa, for example. I'm guilty of a lot of that too. I don't follow all the rules, but I'm respectful of Social Distancing. Some of the earliest places to open up are now seeing huge spikes. It'll be interesting to see if deaths and the hospital capacity issues that the Lockdowns looked to avoid will be the ultimate result.
  7. Lots of that going on in New York. Low numbers. Must all be wearing masks. OK... That's awful. I'm not sure the point you're trying to make.
  8. A Hospitalization is a Hospitalization. Even if they're all people 60+, which they're not, once capacity is reached, death rates will spike. Also, your stats are from before the Outbreak even got a foothold. I'm not quibbling with the conclusions, but they're outdated stats.
  9. And continue to spread the virus. And some will die. And as Hospitalizations go up, more will die. Of other things too because COVID-19 will consume more medical resources. We've seen this play out before. Short of seniors in LTC homes, how would you go about protecting the elderly? Force them to Shutdown? And who's "Elderly"? 60+. I actually thinks it's the responsibility of said elderly person to protect their own interests. Wear PPE, Social Distance and don't go into crowds. It's not hard.
  10. And go where? Watch Hockey? Watch Basketball? Watch Soccer? Perhaps Nascar which just banned the Confederate Flag and a Black Driver had a noose put in his garage. I disagree, but there's no point in trying to debate this again. The conclusions are too different to come to any reasonable consensus. I will say that Black people's interactions with police can't be fully captured by violent incident statistics. It's more anecdotal than that, which means it's hard to debate. The main narrative shift in Kaepernick is the BS that his protest was a slight against the Troops. That was dishonest bunk to silence him. Ditto with the All Lives Matter refrain. Saying All Lives Matter has become a Racist Dogwhistle. And good people don't say All Cancers Matter when someone is fundraising for Breast Cancer.
  11. So he did things not because of his Islam Heritage, he did it because he was an Incel. His family was irrelevant. Just a retaliation? Are you justifying it? Those Muslims didn't nothing to anyone. Cite JT support for any above "terrorists" we mentioned. So they can ignore "Turn the other Cheek" whenever they feel like it. Not very Christian. So you're saying people pick and choose the parts of religious doctrine that they like? No Shit! A lot of White Christians forced people into Slavery throughout the past 1,000 years. So why should Moderate Muslims have to answer for that if Christians don't have to answer for White Nationalism or the KKK? Everytime a White guy shoots up a school in the US, should we look into his religious heritage? OK, fair point. Do they represent young men? since they're exclusively young men. The point is, that they seem to be the ones doing lots of the domestic terrorism in recent years and not Muslims. We just talked about the Quebec City shooting. That's one of the worst terrorist attacks in Canadian History. Sure ISIS and and al Qaeda are problems. Much less so in the past 10 years however. Why should a Muslim immigrant have to answer for that, especially since many are coming to Canada to escape such things. See Syrian Refugees.
  12. And as you get several generations deep, those dogmatic tendencies tend to level out. And many Muslim girls wear "normal" clothing. The truth is, they do it willingly like Jews wear a Yamaka. The point I'm trying to make is that when you have a multi-cultural community, a new culture pops up. To the point where it can't even really be identified, Food, Music, Family values all mesh together. And the Whitebread ways of generations passed end up becoming the outlier.
  13. I think a lot of people are asking for a lot of different things. Policing is very local. So each community will handle if differently. I believed, before all this, that police budget were too large and Police Unions are a problem. I think the events of the last month have affirmed those beliefs. I think you could have less cops trained better and re-allocate many of their tasks. What has changed is the public narrative around these protests. 5 years ago, Colin Kaepernick was a "Son of a Bitch" that was disrespecting the Troops. Now, when and if sports ever returns, BLM will be front and centre. And owners and #45 can't do anything to stop it.
  14. You see that in white communities as well as POC communities. Eastern Europeans and Jews often stick to strict religious values they force on their children. Not to mention the Evangelical phenomena coming from the US. (Where homophobia and abortion are more important than anything Jesus said). Conversion Therapy is a real thing that Christians do. When you grow up in a community with lots of different racial groups, you get exposed to different worldviews and become a much more well rounded person. Chinese, Italian, Irish, French, German, Caribbean immigrants all came to Canada and changed Canada. IMHO, for the better. South Asian and Latinex immigrants will as well.
  15. If it was so easy then the person who was making the reference should have provided the information. From the MSM article you note, there is protest and discontent on why this person was killed. Another example of a simple traffic stop turning into a death. Speaks to the same policing issues BLM talks about.
  16. Also, this is Thread Drift. I don't really want to go into Der Cooler again. There are ample threads discussing Islam.
  17. They've killed more people in the last 5 years, in Canada, than any fundamentalist Muslim, I'm aware of. If Young White Men shouldn't have to answer for Incels, then why should Moderate Muslims have to answer for ISIS or the guy who killed Nathan Cirillo. The Truck attack was an Incel and Alexandre Bissonette was a White Nationalist and Trump fan. Should Christians who do support Trump have to answer for Christians who oppose him and vice vera? Religions are not a homogenous group. Fundamentalist Islam is a problem, but so is White Nationalism. We don't treat all White Christians in America as responsible for White Nationalism. And we shouldn't treat all Muslims like they should have to answer for Terrorism and violence that has previously happened. Muslims fight the Taliban and ISIS too.
  18. It seems BLM must answer for all the vandalism and the actions of all the people that turn out to these protests. Yet when someone is killed counter protesting a rally against a General Lee statue being removed in Charlottesville, that's an isolated incident and people shouldn't have to answer for the Neo Nazis that came to that rally.
  19. Is Trump's contention that testing should be slowed, the dumbest most irresponsible thing imaginable? And he's not kidding. He really would prefer that testing be scaled back to hide the extent of the outbreak.
  20. Muslims are actually 3% of the Canadian population and I can't remember the last major Muslim inspired terrorist attack. A person with Muslim Heritage did the 2018 Toronto Danforth shooting, but there's scant evidence that he did what he did because of his Religion. Then we have Incels killing people in Toronto and Quebec City and a wannabe cop randomly murdering people in New Brunswick. I think angry young white men who can't get a date are more dangerous to society than Muslims. Muslims and South Asians contribute great things to Canadian society. I went to school with many of them, great people. My Family doctor is a Muslim. Some of may favourite food is from Muslim countries. Simplistic view of Fundamentalist Islam shouldn't dictate immigration policies. They're likely coming here to escape totalitarian regimes and fundamentalist religious dogma.
  21. If you can't Social Distance indoors, you should be wearing a mask. That's just good sense. We're actually going to get an excellent case study on what will happen with COVID when there's very little attempt to mitigate its infection in the US South. Those governors aren't going to shut down unless deaths skyrocket, and it seems they're on that trajectory. The benefit is that doctors do know how to treat it now. But as Hospitalizations skyrocket, so will the death rates.
  22. Young people noted here are the ones that are leading the spike in new cases in the US Sunbelt. They want to party. Will they die? Perhaps not, but they can certainly spread it to more vulnerable people and getting COVID-19 equals an automatic minimum 2 week vacation (paid or not). That can't be good for productivity.
  23. It seems that outdoor exposure is a lot less of an issue. Especially with all the warm weather. That being said, those people are way to close. What's the issue is people gathering indoors: clubs, bars and restaurants. . . Orrrrr political rallies. The spike in cases in the South and Western US can't be denied. They're seeing spikes and because they're not likely to shut down again, the curve may be way more difficult to flatten. Canada, Europe and the Northeast US have all seen cases, deaths and hospitalizations drop. The shutdown, mask wearing and cautious opening has certainly helped handle COVID-19.
  24. How many white people commit terrorist acts?
  25. Sure. And so is voter fraud done by mail.
