Should Canada Continue to Allow Full-Term Abortion?
WestCanMan replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's one way to look at it. Here's another: As a family, parents decide how many kids they're going to have. Let's say they go with two, for their own reasons, which are personal. After the 2nd child, there are lots of potential babies to be born, but those babies won't get to be born because mom's tubes will be tied, or dad will have a vasectomy, or some other form of birth control will stop all of those potential children from being born. No matter what parents choose to do, they're inevitably going to stop some babies from being born unless they're asexual anyway or they want to try to live with 16 or so kids. Ffwd to where the 2-kid-parents already have 1 kid, and they find out after the 3rd month of pregnancy that their second child will be born with severe disabilities that will prevent them from ever walking or talking. The parents will make the choice of: either having that baby, or giving a different baby a chance to be born. It's one or the other. They will make the choice to not allow a baby to be born no matter which path they choose. One of those potential babies will tie the family down financially, drain their time and energy, they won't be able to go on trips, it will make it almost impossible to have the first child in extra-curricular activities, they'll probably be woken in the night at least once every day for the rest of their lives, etc. In short, a family of 3 people will endure a lot of strain, the medical system will be bogged down, so that one person can live a long, suffering life without ever contributing to society or experiencing simple enjoyment. It's a choice that the parents can make, but it's a choice to take on a monumental task. The other option is to have an abortion and give a different an opportunity to live. It's a hard option, but at the same time it's also just a matter of making the choice to give 1 person a life or another. Whichever way you choose, 1 baby doesn't get to live and that's entirely on you. This isn't an option that I only want to inflict on other people that I wouldn't inflict on myself. If I get past the point of functioning I don't want to bog my wife and kids down. I've had 5 great decades, that's a lot more than a lot of other people get. I don't want to be kept alive artificially, it would just be my time to go. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about something like Down's Syndrome, where a baby can still have a normal, fulfilling life and contribute to society in a very meaningful way. I'm not talking about a kid with either mental or physical disabilities, I'm talking about a baby with both mental and physical disabilities. One of my best friends from high school went down that road. It did not work out, I'll leave it at that. -
Should Canada Continue to Allow Full-Term Abortion?
WestCanMan replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's a tough decision to get a pregnancy terminated due to a baby's health issues, but it's more than just an 18 year ordeal and not every family has the time or money to provide a consistent, high level of care. When babies are born in really rough shape they'll need 100% care right through their adult life, and there are lots of adults out there who can't even provide a decent life for healthy kids, let alone kids which have extreme needs. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. I can handle tough obstacles as well as almost anyone, but I could never do the day to day things that a nurse, doctor or vet does. My mother-in-law is a huge wimp who gets in a flap when things go even a bit squirrelly, but she used to volunteer in the hospital and sit with people in palliative care who had no one to visit with them and just offer comfort and support. I could never do that either. Some people couldn't provide care for a severely handicapped child who will never crawl or walk or talk. I'm in awe of the people who can, but I won't lie - I couldn't do it. -

But Trump Tweeted that video with the election signs that say "Trump 2024" and "Trump 2028" and "Trump 2032" and "Trump 2036" and "Trump 2040" and "Trump 2048" and "Trump 2052" and "Trump 2056" and "Trump 2060" and "Trump 2064" and "Trump 2068" and "Trump 2072" and "Trump 2076" and "Trump 2080" and "Trump 2084" and "Trump 2088"!!!!!!!! He's going to be President until he's 146 years old!!!!!!!! -
So you are conceding that point? You know that you should, right? I have lived in Alberta, Nova Scotia and BC and I can promise you that none of those provinces have legislation promoting discrimination.

Pipeline protestors need to be jailed
WestCanMan replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If our gov't is in a "tolerating protests" mood, and destruction of property is ok, can we include protests against P.E.Trudeau statues in all of this? I doubt there is one within 2000 miles of here lol. -

As much as I hate Trudeau, I doubt that the stupidity of these protests will match the last 3 years of Obama's Presidency, when Obama fiddled while half the US burned. -

Wow! That sounds crazy. Can you dig up an example of that from this century, or are you just going to sit there in silence and pretend you never saw this? I'm eagerly awaiting your reply. [/sarcasm] Ummmm, this is just your idiotic bullshit. The entire Russian collusion farcevestigation was lawless, a witch hunt, a hoax, and there was plenty of actual, serious corruption revealed in the IG report. If Trump had sent a bogus dossier to the FBI on Biden and there were 17 serious errors and omissions you'd have your impeachment unanimously. You're like a petulant child, just refusing to acknowledge basic facts. -

WestCanMan replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The Russian collusion investigation just called. They want you to acknowledge their much greater attempt to subvert democracy, which included a huge smear campaign which went on before & during the mid-term elections, while the investigators already knew there was not going to be any evidence uncovered. What Stone did was the least of the crimes committed during the farcevestigation. -

WestCanMan replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's a slippery slope when so much of the public is 100% behind the collusion investigation and the way that went, or when they're so willing to exonerate Biden based on nothing more than the fact that they dislike Trump, or when they're taking the word of someone like Dr Ford who was known to have lied about so many things and had such a lame story with no witnesses and no dates or location. A large percentage of Americans actually want kangaroo court justice. -

Lol. Clinton was busted for witness tampering, lying under oath, and obstruction of justice. Same as Stone, basically. -

Your article is just a bunch of hyperbolic bullshit. Title: He never slammed anyone, he talked about the bogus things they did. That's totally on point. OOOH, SHOCKWAVES! Guess what? The JD didn't have to accept the "recommendations" of it's prosecutors. And then four idiots quit. See? The swamp is draining itself. Unlike our budget, which isn't balancing itself. Awesomeness! -

You just said something intelligent, which is making me reconsider how often a 1/130,000 chance pays off. -
The plan is to get hundreds of billions of dollars for our oil while every other country on earth is doing the exact same thing, while at the same time not giving other countries hundreds of billions of dollars. Yeah, that's my plan, and I know doesn't make sense to you.

America under President Trump
WestCanMan replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It was essentially a "soft coup", and actual crimes were involved. Now it's case of "how much damage will be done by completely destroying the reputation of the FBI and one of the two main political parties, vs how much damage was actually done to the democracy". The IG report was quick to label the "17 serious errors & omissions" as random and unbiased, even though every single person n the face of the earth knows that is completely impossible. If you flip a coin 17 times there's only 1 chance in 130,000 that you'll get all heads, but the members of the FBI had better than a 50% chance of getting a lot of those things right after 3 years of investigations. If you look back in history you'll find examples of leniency even by monarchs who didn't lack any power or authority. You're missing the point of how much damage will be done to the most important institutions in the country if they go down that road. It's not a win-win. Everyone has their goals and their objectives. Trump is choosing moving the country forward vs all-out retribution which will set the country back. We'll see what eventually happens with McCabe, Comey, Strzok and some others. No rush. All is well. No, you're just asking stupid questions. The adults are busy moving fwd. Being productive. What you're asking for is ludicrous. -

No one will get executed for lying to a FISA court. People get executed for trying to take over parts of the military in a coup, or aiding in attacks on the military or the gov't. Grab a brain. He already did. He still is. You're twisted. -

Yes, it actually is. That's KGB crackdown 101: "You show me the man and I'll find the crime". It doesn't even have to be real, just like it wasn't when they tried that topic on Trump re: collusion. You just make the accusation and it's up to the guilty to prove they're innocent The fact that guilty people are in jail doesn't bug me, the fact that people who didn't actually commit crimes were sent to jail really bugs me. People who interviewed Flynn said that he never actually lied to the FBI but he's going to jail, and people like Hillary and all the members of the FBI who actually did lie to the FISA court aren't going to jail for whatever reason. -

Trump has already scored major victories and exposed deep state felons. That's a big deal. FYI the "deep state" isn't an actual group of people who have ranks and appointments within an actual regime, it's a collection of people who have more loyalty to their own cohorts than to the country and who act like the resistance to the actual government. Getting rid of deep state types isn't like getting rid of testicle cancer where you just yank out the whole thing, it's more like brain cancer. You have to be careful what you take out or you could turn a sentient being into a life-long liberal. -

I read the Politico article, they quoted Adam Schiff, so it's officially garbage. The guy who narrated the "Honey Badger Doesn't Give A Shit" video has more credibility. -

An actual Banana dictatorship moment is when you start an investigation into someone to see if they have ever committed any crimes, instead of investigating an actual crime to find out who did it. Eg, paying foreign agents to fabricate some bogus accusations against a political opponent, getting deep-state toadies to lie about the validity of the accusations and testifying that they were independently corroborated when you know that they weren't to a FISA court judge to get a warrant to spy on that opponent, opening a public smear campaign disguised as an investigation on that person when you have no evidence that they committed a crime - just in the hopes of finding something damaging about them, letting the public slander go on for years after you know for certain that there was never any crime of any sort committed, arresting that person's associates for completely unrelated crimes and offering them reduced sentences for bearing false witness against them, saying that those assocites were arrested for crimes related to the bogus investigation when they were actually arrested for tax evasion that took place two decades earlier (which they were already aware of but didn't act on them for some reason). That is an actual list of actual banana republic stuff that happened godzilla, your little hissy list is just a joke. -

They're recommending 7-9 years for Stone for doing the exact same things that Bill Clinton did..... How many years did Clinton do for those crimes, exactly? Zero seconds, plus or minus zero seconds. He was disbarred from practicing law, that's it. The Senate even acquitted him of his impeachment. Some of those who voted against impeaching the obstruction of justice, witness-tampering B Clinton were winners like: "Quid Pro Quo" Joe Biden, Ted "Killer" Kennedy, the longest serving Dem Senator of all time - Grand Wizard Byrd, John "Felonius" Edwards, Dick Durbin, Diane Feinstein, Check Schumer.... Of course 7-9 years is too much. The precedent has already been set for this crime during these types of proceedings. -

If Trump has his way there will be less black people in jail, less black babies killed in the womb, and more black people will have work, making more money than they would have under a Dem. He's such a racist. -
