My favourite teams are 1) the Jays and 2) whoever is playing the Yankees. But TBH, the longer it has been since the Yankees won, the less I am against them. Their one championship since 2000 didn't really bug me. Still, I really liked seeing teams like 'Zona, Anaheim, Kansas City, St L, the White Sox, and especially the Cubbies win it in recent years. That Cubs SS grinning ear-to-ear while he was picking the grounder to get the last out was also a favourite play of mine. Baseball can be painfully boring for long stretches, yet it also provides a lot of the most riveting and memorable moments in all of sports. PS: I've been rooting for the Phillies in recent years, but they seem to be destined to be one of those "always the bridesmaid but never the bride" teams.

I love Dave Roberts. His stolen base in G4 was one of my favourite plays ever in baseball. Every critical play in that series to that point went the Yankees way, and the momentum was palpable and overwhelming. Seeing that little guy standing on first base just believing like that was inspiring. Everyone in the baseball world knew that he was stealing, and the Yankees did everything in their power to stop him, and he just flat-out beat them. In that moment, he turned the tide of that whole series, and the BoSox never looked back. Just from that one play, Roberts is one of my favourite players ever. Maybe Roberts did a little better job than Schneider, but Schneider did enough. He is a champion in his own right, as are the Jays. The Jays biggest mistakes were right on the mound imo. At critical times, like 0-2 counts when other teams were desperate for a hit, they threw lazy breaking balls that ended up in the middle of the plate. There's no excuse. You gotta make a guy hit something at 97 MPH at that point, and just rely on your defence if need be. One Dodger got two 87MPH pitches in a row to the exact same spot, near the middle of the plate, before he cranked his home run. That's little league stuff. My heart breaks for those guys.

I love that the Jays are mostly a home-grown team instead of a collection of free agents, like the Yankees usually are. I felt like the '92 team was more organic than the '93 team, it felt like '93 was more of a store-bought team. The core guys on this year's team all came up through the system together, and I worry that next year all the big free agents will want to come to the jays, and it will be a much different team by the 2026 playoffs. C'est la vie...

Yup. 200 years ago, ten inches of rain could fall in an area where there were just a bunch of plants and there was no major congregation of people, and no one even noticed if there was a bit of flooding because there was no one and nothing there of importance. Rain has always fallen very quickly over short periods of time, but it always had someplace to go before. Now, in the big cities, it just pours across all those waterproof surfaces and then congregates in low-lying areas after it overwhelms municipal drainage systems.
