They didn't get bit by the randomness bug, they were just wrong. This isn't a case where they said 'this had a chance to go either way'. This is a case where they're saying, "we checked into it - we know exactly what's going to happen in this specific instance" and they had it upside-down. They yapped like liberals (= they looked like total fools). For your edification: 1) people don't have "a 1% chance of ever being in a car accident in their lifetime". It's actually much higher than that. It's almost an eventuality. 2) This isn't really about true randomness, and you can't judge it as if it was just a binary option. Being close counts in this type of measurement. It's like "There's a 92% chance your child will be 4'9" tall" and they wind up being 7' tall. They weren't just wrong, they were clueless. They were so far outside of the SDev that their prediction was useless. If the kid was 4'8 or 4'10 you'd give them a pass but they failed, utterly. The Dems were actually caught cheating 3 times in the 2016 election. Theories abound but whatever the reason, pollsters overestimated the liberal voters in the states and canada by quite a bit in the most recent elections. Trump gets no afternoons off. He's on call every second of every day. Some people are too busy to take exhaustive measure to protect themselves every second of the day from a virus with a 99.96% survival rate. Lots of Americans and Canadians have to take chances. People work in gas stations, convenience stores, hospitals, they're cops, security guards, waitresses, lab techs, IT people, plumbers, etc. None of them have working conditions that meet the safety standards that Senators have the luxury of working in. A truth as monumental as this is ignored/shunned by the leftists, but when Trump says "MS-13 are animals" and the MSM twists that sentence into "Trump said that immigrants are animals" it's somehow entirely meaningful to them and it needs to be propagated. That's like if we took the whole population of Quebec, BC, Alberta, Yukon, Nunavit, NWT, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, and PEI, put them all on Vancouver Island, and the mayor of a city with 8M people there told the 4.3M daily subway riders to carry on as usual. America's problem at the beginning of the outbreak was people like DeBlasio and Pelosi actively giving the worst advice possible to Americans and Cuomo stuffing covid patients into care homes.
