Apples to pears here. The conservatives found themselves in one of the worlds worst recessions and still managed to grow at 2%.

This argument i buy. -
I carry no debt. I have had in the past, and even in low interest rate conditions, I pay it off and I pay it off quickly. It makes no sense to me to be paying for interest.

Strategic Voting - It needs to be done

Uhh, the Liberals would have gotten a minority nonetheless. Only 10% of people allegedly voted strategically. -
Name the next CPC and NDP leaders

Harper and the LPC and NDP lead at the time all agreed to spend like a wild person during 2008 to invest in the economy. Then Harper did the following, and cut out deficit every single year, and came out a year ahead of target to get us back in the surplus. I don't understand why people keep on saying that Harper wrecked the economy. No, he fixed it. Trudeau though is about to sink our country back into a deficit, when we don't need one. Oh well, it doesn't affect me much. I just pay more taxes. Part of me wants Trudeau to go through with all of his promises, to wreck this country, just so I could say "I told you so" -

First part, OK I agree. Second part, I will completely disagree with you. I spend my life on airplanes, there is no privacy on a narrowbody aircraft between YYZ and YOW. It's 2x2 seating in J, versus 2x2 in Y or 3x3 in Y as there are no narrowbodies. J = business class Y = economy class. I spend about 50% of my time up front and the other half in the back. The confidential argument is 100% not true. Plus, on those flights there is 0 time to work. It's a 1 hour 5 minute flight and about 30-40 minutes in the air, during which case a cheese plate and a drink or two is served. And if we're talking YYZ YYC, same issue. It's 3 hours basically in the air, and there is no privacy unless one books a pod on the 1 flight a day that's on a 763. Based on when the 763 flies, Oliver is not on that flight. -

It was great chatting with many of you last night! One of the worst nights politically, but it was cool to chat about stuff as it came in! -
Strategic Voting - It needs to be done

All those NDPers I talked to at work today who strategically voted feel awful. Like i've been saying to all in real life and on here, vote for the party that aligns to you and let the rest take care of itself. -
Why hasn't any party talked about paying off our debt. Even the CPC didn't say they would.

I can't imagine how he will feel sitting through a majority liberal government as the LPC rips his agenda right out in front of him. Taxes taxes taxes and the bloat of government will drive him (and me) up the wall. I haven't seen Trudedopes victory speech yet because I can't stand that motherblipper.

I disagree with many about this. I think in 4 years, Trudeaumania will have worn off and that the wrecked economy will cause the Conservatives to win again. -
To answer the subject of this thread, I look forward to 1) High taxes <--specific to the LPC 2) Backroom deals 3) Another scandal 4) Apologies from the PM about something 5) Deflections from the PM about something You know, general government stuff that happens with any party.

Based on the article from TorStar about the Conservatives being broke now, there is a line in there IIRC that they are immediately starting to look for a leader. Immediately being - this morning. If it's not mentioned there, it's mentioned here: http://www.castanet.net/news/Canada/150116/Tories-begin-post-mortem I'm curious where you see otherwise? Thanks! -

No one here has said why Kenney is a bad idea as a CPC leader. I'd like to hear some reasons please. Danke. -

CPC Kenney. When I mentioned this name, you guys flipped out on me and disagreed. I ask a friend who's a bit older than me why you guys might not like him, and he wrote: I don't know why they'd say that. I don't particularly think he'd be a good choice because he's hyper-partisan and a lot of the worst things that being a career politician embodies. I remember watching him as a smarmy deputy for Preston Manning when Manning couldn't be bothered to show up to a local candidates' debate, have never liked him since then. But he has built a lot of contacts and was viewed as a reasonably effective minister. He also had a lot to do with the ethnic outreach strategy that helped win seats in the GTA and places like YVR over the past few elections. And there's no doubting he's an intelligent man. But he's also very right wing and very much out of the old Reform side of the party. To the extent your friends believe the party needs to move back towards the middle and get away from a lot of the Harper tendencies, Kenney is probably the wrong pick. -
This board is a lot more diverse than I thought.

If our COO who manages a 100 or so billion dollar a year business can only fly coach, why pray tell should a government worker be able to fly business? -
Why is Harper staying on as MP?

I'm on my phone. How the heck could the conservatives even win a minority? I'm trying to grasp your logic as I haven't read Eric's post.

Give it up, the CPC has lost.
