  1. You're making a fatal assumption which is incorrect. You're assuming that's where I will max out at in my career, and that is not a valid statement.
  2. Because I will be crossing the 200k threshold shortly. And it was more of a blanket statement about the rich having to subsidize the middle class more and more to pay for their vacation. And just because I'm not affected by payroll taxes doesn't mean my wife will not be.
  3. You're missing the point. My money isn't going to the POOR, it's going to the over entitled middle class who want to take a vacation with my money.
  4. So those who make $200,000 or more should be paying for your frigging vacation? What a load of utter shit. You feel like you're entitled to your vacation because you make under $100K? Wow, this just boils my blood some more. I'm going to be sure to share this. I'll also share this with a few small business owners who are wondering how to make up for the upcoming payroll taxes. Apparently those that they employ may share this moronic belief. I heard from a few that they feel bad they won't be able to offer raises this Christmas. I'm sure once I share them this story they won't feel bad after all.
  5. This logic is so flawed I literally snorted. This is a class of the middle class pretending they're poor as shit. http://www.macleans.ca/economy/economicanalysis/rank-your-income-where-do-you-stand-compared-to-the-rest-of-canada/ The wealthiest 20% is in the middle class. So what is your argument then? You're saying the wealthiest 20% should pay more taxes? Then put your money where your mouth is and denounce the middle class tax cut.
  6. I'm doing the opposite. I used to donate money to charities, not any more.
  7. To all, yes. However, Harper did follow through on his GST/TFSA promise and continued to lowered taxes for most (income splitting, home renovation tax credit etc). He promised to lower people's taxes, and he did. Versus Chretien and his bullshit reversal on axing the GST.
  8. I quote from the article: "For everybody, including the top one per cent of Canadian earners, the tax rate will be the same on the first $200,000 of taxable income each year. Not incidentally, Trudeau has promised that this rate will go down." Then how much will it go down? Plus, this does not offset the loss from my TFSA nor payroll taxes for some (I just realized I would be exempt from the Ontario payroll tax, so if Trudeau's plan is the same, I'm fine there). Carbon taxes though, that'll still hurt. Plus, you're also missing, I think, the fact that I don't make over $200K, so that article really doesn't mean much to me.
  9. Agreed. I know the left will never read Harper's biography but the more I read (i'm about half way done), well, let's just say I hope history is kind to him. He was a great PM, but he had his flaws.
  10. I am actually partly rooting for the LPC to actually follow through on their promises, even though I dislike them.
  11. Then why bother with posting on this board. Nothing we do and say will change anything federally.
  12. From my perspective, I've already paid more taxes based on my income to support society. And now the middle class want even more? That's like saying thanks to someone who gives you $100 and then asking for more. The entitlement bewilders me.

  14. As I already told you, the tax cut will not affect me at all.The top income there is what, $89k for the middle class tax bracket? The gains I've made in my TFSA I'm happy with. $10K now, even if it's not indexed, makes a material difference. The payroll tax hike will easily cost me more than $2k a year. And I don't say "Whatevers" to money, even if it is a dollar. If anything wrt the carbon tax, the income tax cuts will again be to the middle class. You know, I've noticed my own spending behavior changing since the election. I tip less, I'll buy the cheaper version of X, and I've decided I am no longer donating to charity. See what happens when taxes go up? Many of the small business owners that I know have already indicating they will not have raises this year (ahead of December and ahead of the payroll tax). So the middle class will save a few $ with Trudeau's tax changes, but yet lose out on the big picture. So many people think so narrow.
  15. They already almost got us, and yet the left want to keep on bringing more and more and more people.
  16. My wife doesn't make nearly that much, so she won't benefit from that. Why does the above $200k tax increase bug me? Because it's against my values and beliefs. Also, actually no, I will be out several thousand.. TFSA back to $5500 in 2016, payroll tax hike, carbon taxes, and who knows what other taxes.
  17. Well according to the left, I shouldn't have my passport revoked as i'm a new stock Canadian.
  18. Your assuming your cost of living is the same as mine. I'd like to buy a detached house, with a two car garage, in the suburbs. That will run me around $800,000. I don't eat out, I don't go shopping for anything I don't need to, neither does my wife. $200K for both people (my wife is a contract teacher right now), is nothing in the GTA. Please don't tell me I don't struggle. Agreed. Anyone making less than someone else complains and says they're entitled to their money, and the person making more isn't entitled to it. I know people who easily clear $400,000. I don't think for a second their money should be in my pocket.
  19. Part of me wants an ISIS terrorist to come into Canada and do something bad. This 25000 # is ridiculous. The US of A, a population 10x our size isn't even allowing that many Syrians to come to their country!
  20. I get that my struggles are less due to my income. However, the idea that it "should" go to someone else is what irritates me. I worked hard for my money, and I'm sure others did too, but the mentality that someone else deserves it more than me is what bugs me.
  21. This does not take into account things like payroll taxes and TFSA's. Nor does it help in any way for couples without children, like me. Then again I've gotten the message clear. Shit on those who make decent coin and tax us to help the middle class. HOW DARE WE MAKE DECENT MONEY? It's not fair to everyone else.
  22. Why anyone votes for those two morons is beyond me
  23. And you're looking at the numbers you want to.
  24. That's some employer not letting you expense that However, $5 is very different than a $5000 J ticket RT from YYZ to YYC
