First a trickle....Now a flood
dialamah replied to Goddess's topic in Health, Science and Technology
I've tried, its a waste of time; neither you nor @Goddessare interested or open to any opposing information. And @Goddessis so blinded by hate she can't accurately read or comprehend half of what I do post. -
Very true. I'm more loving and merciful to my children than God is to his. I'm not as petty, becoming incensed enough to slaughter them and their friends because they disobeyed me. I don't tell my children they deserve nothing, merely because I brought them into the world. I became a non-believer because I couldn't wrap my head around a "loving" God who could be as cruel as he's described as being in the bible.

You lie so much, it beggars belief. -
First a trickle....Now a flood

The smattering of links I clicked on of yours were garbage - Twitter "doctors", conspiracy theorists, manipulated videos, outright lies. That your supporters are so easily fooled is hardly surprising, given the lack of critical thinking endemic on this forum. -
First a trickle....Now a flood

He may have come late to this but at least he's responding with a degree of respect, something you've been demanding. Perhaps try engaging in the discussion you claim to want, instead of b1tching. -
Socially, swastikas are not acceptable - even if the concept of free speech allows it. Trans people are acceptable socially - in theory. But, per the objections of a vocal minority, not in reality. I disagree - I don't see anyone non-partisan who cares, beyond chuckling about it. And, as already noted in this thread, it is already rebounding. Yesterday, stock prices rose by 34%. So, cancel culture. Be proud, conservatives, if you succeed, but don't accuse liberals of being the only ones engaging in cancel culture with these kinds of cancelling attempts on your resume. The fact remains that those who object to Budweiser's actions do so because they disapprove of trans people. Imagine if they tried the same thing if a Black person was featured - you do know what that would be; how can you claim this is any different? The objectors are the people creating and maintaining this culture war; they're the ones creating the news stories and headlines. It's certainly not those who accept trans people. Disagreeing with you does not mean I'm lying to myself; I thought you were better than that.

You make my point for me - swastikas are not acceptable in any context - trans people are, in theory at least. If sending some cans of Bud lite to a person in a swimsuit is unremarkable, so should be sending some cans to a trans person. It remains the people who object that makes it political. They object because they don't like, don't want to see and don't want to be reminded that trans people exist, so they pressure anyone who brings trans people to their attention to STFU.
-
So who's engaging in culture wars? Certainly not the company who chooses to give someone who happens to be trans the same opportunity they could give to another person who happens to not be trans. The objectors are the ones making it into a culture war, not the company. It's no more "foisting" than showing mix-race couples on ads - just like mixed-race couples, trans people are part of life, so why object to them appearing in media as a spokesperson? I sure hope this company doesn't fold in front of this, imo, transphobic reaction.
-
I don't understand the problem. If the majority of adults in the States supports equal rights for trans people, why are so many getting their panties in a knot because a person who happens to be trans has a job opportunity that's in front of the public? Why is there any push to cancel this person through putting pressure on the employer? How is that different than pressuring a university to cancel a speaker a group disapproves of?

Using "girl" to insult. Sexist, misogynistic troll.

Politics as religion applies to anyone left or right who is so partisan that they never hold their "side" accountable and blame everything on the other side.

https://www.theroot.com/really-ron-desantis-you-want-schools-to-talk-about-ros-1850236824 Ever listened to Trump and his cultists? Tell me again how the right is so "truthful."

Explain Trump.
-
Yet it is the right-wing Florida government that wants to ban a book's mention of Rosa Parks race. So much for the right's vaunted defenders of free speech.
-
Heard about a poll the other day claiming that support for Trump grew among undecided voters as a result of the indictments. Who knows what's true.
-
Actually it didn't. From Fraser Institute: Historical context is vital to understanding the debt legacies of each prime minister. For instance, global conflicts such as World War I and World War II and multiple economic downturns contributed significantly to the substantial growth in debt per person that occurred during the tenures of Sir Robert Borden (188.1 percent) and William Lyon Mackenzie King (145.2 percent). I know it's tempting to blame everything on anybody named Trudeau, but it's also lazy and ignores facts and in this case, history.

So they don't have to pay for the kids poverty-stricken women bring into the world. Or pay for tracking down and getting money from the father. And, you poor baby - having to pay for "someone else's" birth control. Maybe take the unwanted (but not aborted) babies into your home, save that birth control money being taken out of your wallet.

This'll be good for teenagers too, who may not be able to afford BC. Fewer teen pregnancies is always good.

Should One Being Trans be Disclosed While Dating?
dialamah replied to Perspektiv's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I can understand why she'd wait and I don't think it's to increase dating pool or being selfish. I think it's because it's pretty personal and not the business of casual acquaintances. Having said that, I personally think disclosure beforehand would be more ethical and save both people from disappointment. Does she give a reason for waiting? -
Yet, they aren't able to read stories to kids without protests and violence. Your contention that working hard and ignoring all the ways in which people are marginalized is an effective strategy to gain acceptance is flawed, imo. Without insistence on being seen, acceptance will not happen.
