You sure are an ignorant cuss. All of those countries have parliaments and other institutes based on British models. They also were given a reasonably good start when Britain left. The fact that some, by no means all, are having huge difficulties is their own fault, not Britain's.
-
Indeed! The British Empire, though not without blemishes, left its colonies institutions and traditions that have benefited them immensely since they gained independence. There isn't another former colonial power that has such a proud record.

Why don't you find a deserted island in the North Atlantic; go there to pick your nose and growl at the universe.

If Conrad Black wants admission to Canada
Sandy MacNab replied to eCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Who are the 'we' you're babbling about? In a year, Black does more good than 'you' do in 'your' lifetimes. Those who are jealous of others and begrudge them the results of their enterprise really piss me off. -
Canada's Involvement in Syria
Sandy MacNab replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's their 'simple' minded reason all right! -
Now there's a mind-set seldom seen within union ranks.

That's huge part of it. Their attack on the Jewish was motivated by jealousy and greed. Many Jews were successful and wealthy. The Nazis, dull-witted cave men, were neither. The Jews had what they wanted so, being dyed-in-the-wool socialists, they took by force and thought they left no witnesses.

Both the LPC and the NDP are socialist to the core. The Liberals pretend to be the party of the "centre" but they are just about - not quite - as tax & spend as the NDP. The Liberals are sneaky; they have and will flim-flam the voters. The NDP are not quite as smart; all those academics have mostly Mickey Mouse degrees. The NDP would get by brute force what they couldn't get by guile. Have you ever wondered why Rae and Trudeau migrated to the Liberals? Yes, I'm as frightened of the NDP, maybe more so, than I was and am of the Liberals.

Is Harper going after the unions?
Sandy MacNab replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
More productivity = more pay for employee = lower prices for consumers = more sales for business = greater profits = more tax revenue for gov'ts = prosperity for all! An equation totally ignored by unions. -
Feds estimates spending $250.8 Billion

Sorry for the edit. I just couldn't resist temptation. -

Well, let's all watch you defend feather-bedding and sloth at the taxpayers' expense. -

Why not pay 'em 5 days for 5 days of productive work. On many occasions I've watched 5 doing the work of 3 - city employees - which means I and many others are paying far too much in property taxes. -
Universities are cesspools of political correctness. Free speech to the politically correct is like sunlight to Dracula. I consider free speech our most sacred right, the one that provides the foundation for all the others. You won't find this right defended or promoted in universities or among any other politically correct, left wing groups.

AG Draft Report: G8 Funding Lacked Transparency
Sandy MacNab replied to guyser's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'd suggest Alberta's Suffield military range. There's a lot of room out there; they can pitch as many tents as are needed. And, if they do it right, they could make certain any protesters had to cross fields full of unexploded ordenance. -
When I answered it, I got a pretty strange result. I'd really like to know if all results were equally weighted. I suppose I should read their rationale again, but I thought the questionaire was a bit loaded towards getting left-libertarian results.

Enjoy the hockey game, Mr Harper or
Sandy MacNab replied to msj's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well, I find your "reasoning" odd also. Not to mention bitter, mean-spirited and spiteful. Your beloved Liberals were brought down because of far, far worse transgressions than Harper and the CPC have ever tried. Until the LPC cleans up its act and purges the leeches things will only get worse for them. Liberal attempts to tar Harper with the same brush are futile - and, most smart, ethical and moral Canadians can see their phoniness for what it is. -
$127 Million cut from reservation housing
Sandy MacNab replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
From the very beginning the treatment of natives has been racist and the reservations a form of apartheid. All this may have solved many problems in the 19th century, but it's now the 21st. The natives should be weaned off this paternalist and humiliating system. They are quite capable of managing their own affairs and fending for themselves. Then they'd be truly equal. -

We cons are brilliant and remarkably capable but, to my knowledge, none of us are particularly adept at mind reading - presuming, of course, there's a mind to read. -

Yeah, it was just as stupid the second time. According to your line of "reasoning" criminals should deserve more freedom of movement than the PM. I think you're jealous or have a pathological hatred for Harper. -
