Why conservatives want tougher laws and less immigration
WWWTT replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Replaced the population? You are using borderline language here! All life forms eventually die so therefore we must reproduce in order so that there is a generation to replace/renew all of us eventually. But you are suggesting that if we rely on immigration to replace older generations this would be unacceptable. And why is that? Do you feel that there should be less Canadians ratio wise amongst the world population and that Canadians should eventually die off?Or do you feel that immigrants should not be contributing to Canada? This is a very odd thread. First off the opening to the thread.Bad news for Harper haters.Hate is a very strong word and I'm going to assume that most people here do not even know Harper so how can you hate someone that you do not even know? Its true that I do not like the policies of the conservatives but to say that you hate someone because you disagree with them I believe is inappropriate. The next thing would be that I believe that this is a very crucial time to be observing polls. If the job numbers start reflecting to show an increase in conservative poll numbers then maybe the NDP will take notice. However if the conservatives continue to stagnate then it will be the conservatives that will be having the sleepless nights As a side note I would add that this is just another example(in a freekin huge list)of conservative hypocrocy! Some project the belief/double standard that Canadians will not care about minor scandals but will come rushing back because of minor good news. Probably because there are no visa requirments to come to Canada from Finland. Many western European citizens do not require a visa to visit.Same does not apply for people outside of western Europe and the US.Maybe Japan? My wife was denied twice and she is from China! WWWTT -

Wasn't there a conservative politician that wanted to make the polar bear Canadas national animal? And she started dishing on the beaver? Thats actually kind of ironic that the polar bear is the Earths largest land carnivour and in many ways is seen as a powerfull animal but environmentalists portray this animal as a weak victim of circumstance beyond its controll. However the beaver is very successfull with a unique ability to modify their environment to allow this. Well anyways there are many creatures on this Earth that evolve or have become extinct and to always blame humans may be un called for.I know humans have caused the extinction of many species.Directly and indirectly by habitat encrouchment and the introduction of foreign species. Actually its in my opinion that it is arogant of humans to make the claim that we can cause a complete global change in climatethat can last hundreds of years. WWWTT -
I'm not going to answer all your questions. First off I do not drink, smoke or do drugs!I only drink the odd cup of coffee and am careful about what I eat.Aswell I regularly work out. Many alcoholics are very good at hiding their issues and this is a personal health issue. My beliefs work well for me and I am not going to change nor am I going to preach of how anyone should live. But if you get behind the wheel or are in politics then thats a different story WWWTT

I have read the past couple of pages of the recent additions in this thread and something occured to me. I would believe that if you were an alcy you probably would not admit it.After all not recognizing/admiting your problem/addiction is a big factor in contributing to.But somehow there a couple here who probably have never even met Cheney are defendin him on second hand info.I personaly would never defend someone whom I have never met on something as personel as this. Aswell I believe the definition of an alcoholic is not the same as say 30-40yrs ago. WWWTT

Thats not how parliament works. Oppositions role is to critisize the faults,to suggest otherwise tells me that you are biased. WWWTT

I seriously doubt that! Recent polls have the conservatives back in minority territory and I am sure this is something to be concerned about. No problem if it works to his advantage in vote splitting, but the split in many, many ridings will be between the liberals and conservatives giving the NDP the advantage. I don't think the conservatives are sitting back right now. WWWTT

Oh God not the Antartic/Artic air pockets in the ice crap thing again! Ok first off there is an Argentinian poet called Jorge Luis Borges(a Spanish language avant gaurd artist/poet)he wrote a short story called the library of babel and the link you posted reminds me of that poem.(check it out if you dare) That link proves didley squate! If anything scientists probably studied sedimentary layers from what was to be believed from ancient sea beds(from fossil remains) and tried to analyze what the possible composition present in the water at that time was. This can not be trusted because there are too many factors that can influence the outcome. Aswell the age of sedimentary layers in the Earths crust can only be estimated and this is how dinasour fossil remains are dated. To make a claim that the amount of CO2 dissolved in our Oceans is at the highest level in 300 million years is a wild claim. They may be right but this is not evidence that this is dangerous.Nor are they being specific with the increased amount being capable of causing any harm. They are just giving out vague statements and stressing that this is a bad thing. If you do not question how they reached their results/conclusion then you will believe anything. And really there's nothing I can say will convince you so I'm just wasting time here WWWTT -

What are you talking about? Advanced DNA research finally proved that humans today share the genetic material from both neanderthall and homesapiens. Many anthropologists hated this fact and there was countless of other evidence that they ignored for freekin decades! WWWTT -

Good then I made my point! This thread is partially about scientific research about Earths history going back 300 million yrs(in regards to atmospheric and ocean make-up) WWWTT -

The only ones that are doing the assumptions are the scientists releasing their so called research that always has the conclusion that we are causing death from fossil fuels. I have always found this real hard to believe because life on Earth is carbon based and the most common form of carbon available to the bottom of the food chain(plants, plankton, algae, etc) is carbon dioxide. Take the carbon dioxide away or seriously reduce it and there will be mass extinction around the world.Actually it can be successfully argued that more CO2 is better and less CO2 may be disasterous. What we are being told from the scientific community about the Earths past and how it is different now always has a common theme and I find it hard to believe. An excellent case point would be the anthropological study of humans and similar species. Back 15-20 years ago many scoffed at the idea that homosapiens and neanderthall inter-bread.But now it is proven that all humans today carry DNA or the genetics from both. When neanderthall was first discovered it was assumed that they were less advanced/intelligent because their skulls have a sloping forehead(as many people have now because they inherited that trait from them)despite later research that found their skulls to have a greater volume capacity therefore a greater size. Many anthropologists fought tooth and nail to deny the mountain of evidence and when DNA research put the final nail in the coffin about the debate there was not even a peep about it. Ok maybe I am not being very clear and articulate, but as far as I am concerned,if you can not see for yourself then beware! WWWTT -

I believe I have an explanation. We all depend on scientific research for our quality of life. When we fly in a plane or drive a car or take medicine when we feel ill etc etc. Many of this is from the fruit of scientific research. However we can not distinguish between different forms of science or studies and the relevance or impact on us.In other words many people do not understand the importance or impact from the research being done by say an anthropologist or a physicist so everything is lumped together. So basicly because science has created flying planes and tv or computers we think that all scientists know everything and that we can safely put faith in their words. And in my opinion this is dangerous.Nothing wrong with healthy skepticism. WWWTT -

Why did you say no? The site you provided backs up what I said! Radiocarbon dating(or something like that) works upon the decomposition of organic material that is carbon based. And as a side note this does have a limited accuracy and I have heard of past procedures bein wildly inacurate. But I believe this method has bein refined and is somewhat more accurate.Aswell this method is only good on organic material dating back 50 000-60 000yrs.I believe the further back in time you go the less accurate. H2O is not an organic material(plant, animal, fish, fungus, bacteria, etc, etc) WWWTT -

Ok I'm going to assume that carbon dating requires carbon,or specifically the decomposition of a carbon based life form such as plant or animal(organic). So where in H2O is organic forms of C? Theres a difference between trust and blind faith. Do you trust what politicians tell you? Do you sincerely believe that there is a complete disconect between the scientific communty(dependant on government funding) and politics? WWWTT -

"This land is our land" is a Woody Guthrie song. If you somehow think that someone has entitlement because of a freekin song then you got some real serious issues with reality and perception buddy! In other words if Quebec seperates and Jack Weber doesn't like it he can go to Quebec city and squat on their provincial parliament grounds. When the cops there start pepper spraying him in the face and wackin him with clubs he can sing "This land is our land" for freekin inspiration and then tell the judge "hey man/lady its in a song, what about the song?" Good luck buddy! WWWTT -

I agree! Up until a couple of decades ago autism was commonly referd as "mental retardation".A term that I will never use! WWWTT

Ok I'm going to jump into this thread going on the information I read here assuming the details are true. First off immigration Canada is the worst, slowest, buratich, heartless, cruel and vicious branch/service of government regardless of provincial municipal or federal level! There is none worse than immigration! They think they are above the citizens of Canada and treat them like scum. They have an heir of entitlement and are untouchable! And they only answer to conservative MPs(because they are in government) so therefore ultimately Harper IS responsible for their actions! From what I read here the child with autism was born here. And since environmental conditions may have influenced this child to develop such condition(the possibility is there) the Canadian government has a responsibility here. Aswell there are many things that may have influence in this case that we do not know.Did this couple contact their MP?Or legal council?Did immigration actually tell them "hey your Canadian born child has an expensive medical bill and the taxes your paying doesn't cover it so out you go"?Or was there another reason they have to leave? There are too many unkowns here so I will leave it at that. WWWTT
