And the new leader of the NDP is.... Thomas Mulcair
WWWTT replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Heres the list I promised earlier no particular order. Peggy Nash,I met her after she was eliminated and I gave her a passionate rally! Nathan Cullen,I happened to notice him behind the bleachers on my way to the washroom talking shop with his campaign manager.I was impressed with his openness and willingness to engage dialogue.I tried to ask him a question about bill C-377(I will talk more on this later)but time would not permitt.Innsuficient data to formulate an opinion at this point. Thomas Mulcair,I met him in front of his campaign headquarters this morning while waiting for my collegues. He looked down at my name card and addressed me by my first name which impressed me!However this was the first candidate I met today and he caught me offguard so I forgot to ask him any hard questions!?I made it a point the rest of the day to not make this mistake again! Paul Dewar,I met him soon after Mulcair.I asked him about bill C-377,he made it clear that he was not fully informed of this private members bill but I was impressed with his eagerness to engage and to help me! David Sparrow vice president members services ACTRA and a well known/accomplished Canadian actor!I was very immpessed with David! We met on the floor and have many goals in common and will be helping each other in the future on different campaigns! Joe Comartin, met on the floor. This was the guy I was looking for to get the best answers for bill C-377!He quickly informed me he is the NDP MP assigned to shoot this bill down and I will continue working with him ! Linda Duncan,we met several times since we hanged around the same general area on the floor near the Mulcair camp.Aswell we were both frustrated with the voting delays.I came away from our brief talk feeling that she is a good woman! Rick Mercer,on the floor. He's not that funny in person. Mark something(I don't know his last name)from this hour has 22 minutes. On the floor.I gave him a tip on something that could be a possible sketch???Their NDP convention sketches will be running this coming Tuesday! Martin Singh,on the floor. He came over early to support Mulcair and there was no opportunity for discussion. There was more and if anything sticks out later I will post!! WWWTT -

My best advise to you is next time you get a chance, make it down to a convention and actually talk to the players yourself with your own questions and concerns! And judge them by the standards that you have set! Just my take and this was my approach in choosing whom I felt would be the best candidate. WWWTT -

Ok I have cast my final vote on the fourth ballot! I have met all the candidates and many, many other notables, comedians and media. I waited/attempted to vote on the third ballot over and over for 45 minutes in frustration and it took me overall two hours to help my collegue cast their vote! On the fourth and final ballot the floor was given the first opportunity to vote(rightfully so) and I guess the poll is still open now for others not on the floor. I am home now with my wife,my collegues were dissapointed about my departure but there is nothing more I can do so I will just watch the final results. WWWTT -
Haaa! You didn't answer his question! WWWTT

Actually I think Mulcair has the most baggage. WWWTT

I can't sleep so I might aswell do something on the computer here. I forgot to mention in my earlier comment that we met Niki Ashton at the Sheraton Hotel across the street from Nathan Phillips square before the Jack Layton tribute.(I guess she is staying there) She aswell is a very pleasant person and not at all what I had imagined!? I got dragged into the Thomas Mulcair camp by my collegues yesterday, but I still voted for Peggy(shhh don't tell anyone). And a couple of these guys want to see this thing over on the first ballot(I gave up trying to argue so I'm just going along with it). At this point I do not care who wins! I am confident that the person who takes over the role as the leader of the NDP will have the full backing of the party and un-limited support up to and beyond forming the next government of Canada! Have you met her before,or Vic? WWWTT -
OK then, maybe I mis interpreted what you meant or something. Either way I do not believe you are a criminal or have recently commited an offence so this issue would not effect you.So asking for sympathy from the court when you are not even in a position seems kind of hypocritical or odd or something not right? My first day at the convention was a great success!!! I did not get there until the tribute for Jack Layton. There were several speakers for including his son and daughter and vidoe clips of former PMs.The tribute ended with a passionate speach by Olivia with many standin ovations! Afterwards I attended a Thomas Mulcair party at the Intercontinental hotel saphire and tuquoise rooms with business reps of UA local 46 plumbers and fitters, sheet metal local 30,the electricians union IBEW local 353 and Canadas largest private sector union UFCW.(I just missed Cid Ryan, president of the OFL) Notables I met there so far Howard Moscoe,Libby Davis and local NDP hero Jagmeet Singh! Libby is is a very nice person and is nothing like what the conservatives here make her out to be!Shame on those who pick on her, shame on you! As a side note I wanted to start a thread just about the convention but this will do. Tomorrow morning I will be there bright and early, polls close at 9am so soon after that we will have the results of the first round! WWWTT -

If Kimmel does 30 minutes of stand up about 2-5 minutes is funny. Humour varies from person to person, group to group. I personally find this mistaken optical interpretation of this tour bus logo to be a low form of humour. I can't see a comedy troupe ever doing a sketch based on a vague humorous optical mis interpretation, only a brief 10-20 second clip and a couple of sentences at most. But if you think that this blooper is funny all the power to you(I guess) WWWTT -
Quebec report on assisted suicide says

I would even be brave enough to add that if anyone who has never had a family member/friend or someone close to them slowly die should not be commenting either! This happened to me twice. The first time was about my cat Bob. He was a brown short haired tabby and he had a heart of gold!Around 2008 he started to get bad gum disease and it was very hard to improve with antibiotics wich puzzled a couple of differnt vets.He even had to a have a couple of teeth extracted. We tried everything but nothing worked. After some months I took him to a specialist whom tested him for FIV and feline lukemia.(routine for this specialist vet)He tested positive for FIV and had full blown AIDS.For cats there is no cure no treatment and I was devestated!Eventually his condition became so bad I could no longer bear to see such a proud animal suffer. He did not eat or drink for four days when the vet finally put him to sleep forever. He had lost half his body weight, his fur became very thin and he droulled blood/saliva constantly that dried on his fur and around his front paws.(I tried to keep him clean).Having the vet put Bob to sleep was the most painful decission I ever made in my life. But it was more painful for Bob to live! Eight months after Bob died my father died aswell on Aug.26th 2011.He died from intestinal cancer and was 85. Two years ago my father had a stroke that left him in a wheelchair. He still had strong will so this was only a setback.Soon after Bob died he had his second stroke and things got real bad.He became bed ridden and started to loose weight. The pain was not a factor due to drugs/medication.Last summer he was diagnosed with the cancer and the doctors said that it was fatal and he would have only a short time(they were right). The short time between my fathers second stroke and the cancer seen my father deteriate horribly. It was a terrible thing for the family to witness and my father wanted to die.Cancer did the favour but some people are not as blessed to have a natural passage. This is a family and personal decission and there should be a final option available. WWWTT -
'Toulouse shooting sparks France's largest ever manhunt'
WWWTT replied to bud's topic in The Rest of the World
Actually when I first heard about the shooting at a Jewish school I think it did cross my mind that a Islamic militant being behind(but maybe not) this but then they(media) mentioned something about the other target and something about security at other muslim and jewish schools being increased and that the police already had a specific profile.Aswell I am not in France nor know anyone there nor do I follow French politics very close(or at all) so I am not in any position to start guessing who was behind this. However you seem very confident in telling everyone here that you are not suprised of the ethnic background and religion of the perpretator, after the fact. WWWTT -
No the argument started from a comment #54 that Topaz made in regards to unemployment and it stemmed out into an argument over definition(which by the way I still do not agree with yours)or something like that and this is now a classic example of thread drift which I do not condone so somehow I must gracefully step away from this argument. However this mathematical argument might be a good thread for the off topic issues,we can continue this there if you wish. Aswell its almost convention time and I must prioritize my time and I should not be spending so much here! WWWTT

Not only that it could be constitutionaly illegal!Aswell it could be defined as an act of treason which is a capital offence that warranted the use of the death penalty! WWWTT

0.074 is a value used to calculate the actuall number of unemployed when multipled by the number in the job market. It is not the numerical value or the sum of those that are unemployed. You know what forget it ok your right you win lets move on WWWTT

Good one! WWWTT

I guess you do not remember all the attack adds of the time that showed Dion speaking English poorly/inaudible.True the adds did not say that Dion speaks English poorly but the conservatives clearly went out of their way to find the most inaudible English speeches he made to advetise to everyone. Aswell many conservatives picked up on this and drove the message home. It is possible that the conservatives could not find enough material on Turmel to make the same approach, but I doubt that they did not try! WWWTT

False 7.4% unemployment does not give the numerical value of the unemployed in Canada or the quantity of unemployed in Canada. 7.4% is a quantity described herein as a ratio of the number of those in the work force that are currently not employed. Keep in mind this argument stemed away from what Topaz was describing.I somewhat misread however I believe my argument has merit because I believe Topaz was describing the quantity of unemployed as opposed to the ratio of unemployed. Topaz you can jump in anytime now to clarify your position Thankyou WWWTT
