  1. Yup, plus Harper has increased the number of troops staying in Afghanistan after the so called "pull out" to 800 from 200... Along with changing it to a significantly more dangerous role...
  2. Nope... In fact it's slightly more 11 or 12 x as much in fact... ie - Kidney stone operation Orlando Florida 1998 - total costs (excluding medications) $12,342.00 (and excluding the cost, about $300.00, of the additional insurances I needed to have in place to even be operated on.) Kidney stone operation Winnipeg Manitoba 2000 - total cost (excluding medications) $1,023.00 (fully covered under Canada's Health Care system with no additional costs.) Both were identical operations for exactly the same problem...
  3. Actually one does have to "give up" any other country's citizenship in order to become a US citizen... Living and working in the US with a Green Card is a totally different matter...
  4. "MP Williams", eh? You wouldn't happen to be referring to the ex-premier of Newfoundland and Labrador now would you? Maybe you don't know half as much about Canada as you think you do... Since a goodly number of "American" Doctors and RNs are Canadians your "Health Care" in the states is excellent, without question... Since "Americans" don't mind paying 10x as much (at least) for their "Health Care" than Canadians do (through their taxes and universally available) it's hardly surprising that the US can attract the BEST Doctors and Nurses available anywhere in the world, now is it? So if one can afford it, the United States is the place to go if money is no object... If a Canadian can afford it the United States is the place to go, you're quaranteed to get the BEST heath care anywhere... In fact, much, much better health care than many, many millions of "Americans" will ever have access to... Oh btw, I speak from personal experience about this matter, just in case you wonder where I get my information...
  5. Really? I sure couldn't tell that from that post... As to what moonbox is, I'm sure you'd know much better than I do...
  6. What I wonder about today is why the NDP didn't hammer the CONS in question period and instead were talking about Japan and Libya... Kinda strange don't you think all things considered?
  7. After 3 months any use of the Canadian Military has to be debated in Parliament and then voted on and authority given by Parliament which then has to be approved by the GG as Canada's Head of State and therefore head of Canada's Military...
  8. One more TIME... When trolling you will never catch anything using an empty hook... To catch something when trolling you need a good spinner bait... My personal favorite is the triple hooked Red Devil, it's particularly effective for Pike and Walleye... Walleye are good eats while Pike aren't, way too boney for my liking... On the other hand Pike put up a much better fight and are therefore more fun to catch... Have a nice day...
  9. That will happen if Canada is still taking part 3 months in... That's the law... Regardless of what the Canadian Government will look like at that point in TIME...
  10. Damned if you do, damned if you don't: - The Bush Legacy via Faux News...
  11. "fair-and-balanced" WooHooo the Faux News of the internet... Remind me never to go there, thanks...
  12. That, except for the "really Canadian" part, is fair comment... Is Ignatieff the best "leader" the Liberals have had, my answer at this point in TIME would be no... However having said that, Ignatieff has no record as a Government Leader, he therefore has the opportunity to surprise us all and rise to the occasion should he get that chance... Are some Liberal MPs (some Canadians in general actually) too worried about being "politically correct", overall I'd say no, not at all... The reason I say that is because the facts are that there are a lot of people that misinterprete things, rightly or wrongly, that are totally against the fundamental principles of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and should be pointed out as being so... If you're inclined to have political ads and the media dictate your decisions for you then that's your perogative... As for me I ignore all that hype and BS provided by the parties, media hype and polls, as well as political ads and concentrate solely on the facts I garner to make my dicisions... To each their own is the way I look at it...
  13. From what you said of course... What are you talking about now? I know I created at least 120 man hours of employment and that's without taking into consideration any employment at the plant that built the unit... A lot more what? What do you want back?
  14. He's showing the others the way to NOT lose power... He's already won if it's turning relatively peaceful "protesters" into radical revolutionaries throughout the region... He's already won if it's causing the Arab League to condem aspects of "western aggression"... He's already won if it makes other dictators more ruthless in putting down revolts in their nations... He's already won if "western nations" are divided over what the "western powers" should or shouldn't do in regards to intervening... He's already won if the rebellion fractures along tribal lines in Libya... And POWER is what everything is about... In short, Ghaddafi has already won his battle against the "west" once again, even if he and everyone else in his family and regime are killed, Ghaddafi will have already won...
  15. This is true... Polar ice caps melting... But only if one can't understand the difference of it happening over tens of thousands of years vs a few decades (which has NOT happened before)... Therein lies the difference that mankind has made possible...
  16. As it pertains to this thread having an unstable Libya right in between two emerging "democratic?" countries that just had their own "peaceful" revolutions is kinda bad in my view... Especially when those two countries are dependant on Libyan Oil as they are... I think this will be a very interesting TIME in the world all things considered... - "May you live in interesting times, often referred to as the Chinese curse, is reputed to be the English translation of an ancient Chinese proverb and curse, although it may have originated among the English themselves (or Americans). It is reported that it was the first of three curses of increasing severity, the other two being: 2. May you come to the attention of those in authority (sometimes rendered May the government be aware of you). This is sometimes quoted as May you come to the attention of powerful people. (Alternately important people.) 3. May you find what you are looking for. This is sometimes quoted as May your wishes be granted." - I've always wondered if recessionary TIMES and inflationary TIMES can exist at the same TIME together... I think we're about to find out...
  17. Awww come on now, give the Harperites a break, it's not like they have anything positive that they've done that they can show Canadians... Other than carping about a few Liberals errors they've got nothing to say... It's not like wasting around $70 BILLION with virtually nothing to show for it is gonna be something the Harper Regime wants to promote...
  18. Since I was going to upgrade my heating/cooling system regardless (a $10,000.00 cost) I calculate my payback period for the extra money it cost us to be about 5-7 years maximum... This is the 4th winter we've had it so within 2-3 years the system will have paid for itself already... On the maintenance front Geothermal actually requires LESS maintenance since there is far less that can go wrong... Because there's no chimney or other fuel burning exhaust needed being it's nothing more than water with a little antifreeze circulating through a continuous loop the home itself is much more enery efficient and warmer... No need to worry about things like carbon monoxide either since no carbon producing product is being "burned"...
  19. Me too... But I don't think it should be a race to see which party can set the record... Personally I think Harper would win that race running backwards...
  20. Glad to see you don't like those Corporate Tax Cuts any more than I do... To use your own words it's extremely unfair that ALL have to pay for tax cuts to corporations and a few shareholders... BTW, I guess you don't mind paying EI benefits to all those people that had employment because of people like me who generated millions of dollars INTO the Canadian economy because of those grants then... Or were you just being silly again?
  21. Of course... Why wouldn't you? Which of course brings up the real quandary the world, and the US now has to face... What happens if at the end of the day Ghaddafi remains in place and a drawn out civil war grips Libya? After all there is no UN will or authorization to remove Ghaddafi, only to prevent him from slaughtering his own people... If it were up to me, which it's not, I'd "take him out" along with the rest of his family and regime, but then I'm not nearly as "peace loving" as Americans and some Canadians are... He's fooled the US and the rest of the world before... A civil war right between two nations trying to find their way after the ouster of two Dictators, namely Egypt and Tunisia, finding themselves on either side of a warring Libya, yet dependant on Libya's oil... A somewhat interesting scenario don't you think?
  22. Absolutely right... The only change, if any, is that it was the US that had to be "brought on side" instead of it being the US bringing other countries on side... China and Russia agreeing to "abstain" from using their veto is one other "interesting", but not necessarily significant, aspect in this whole matter...
  23. Ahhh well; there you have the definition of "easy come, easy go", it's the "American" way"... Some shore time in Italy to "reload", not bad all around...
