  1. O come on, im just having a little fun with you, there can be no alternative version of events unless you believe there are alternatives to the perpetrators, which is always the point of this nonsense, so why don't you just skip right to that stuff.
  2. So science, blah blah, whatever, when do we get to the good parts of your grand conspiracy theory? We want names, who should we be blaming, o please, please, the suspense, o the suspense!
  3. When do we get to the part where the Jews did it? Or did Dick Cheney shoot down those planes in another hunting 'accident'?
  4. I really liked Freddy Mercury, his voice was unnaturally good.
  5. Plane hit building, building fall down.
  6. That's right, you just go on speaking for everyone else, tell all of us what's inside of our heads. it couldn't be say that you and a few others here simply can't understand the conversation at the same level as the rest of us? No, of course not, you're just better than we are, how simple it is to cover for any of your own short comings when you can always look down your nose at everyone yelling down from your social justice mountain claiming that we aren't very good people every time the conversation passes you by. Or, maybe it's true that every time a woman cries inequality she must be correct, and she shall not be questioned, and the situation must be rectified, and while equal, she shouldn't be expected to provide a credible answer to the rabble. O and btw, im very much for equality, not that i need answer to you on that subject, (heaven forbid i should mention i have or had a gay friend so you can trot out that other well used and ridiculously weak debating tactic that you also recently used) but actual real, accountable equality, not the patronizing nonsense you subscribe to, which means chivalry is dead, and if a woman can come to the forum she can expect no more or less from all of us than anyone else would.
  7. If you need to exceed the limit you shouldnt be passing, and in any case it's not a real argument, we could limit cars to 120 and the limits to 100, but again, we don't and many, many more people die as a result than die as a result of the almost non existent fully automatic anything, either here or in the USA, which is the important point really. Very few people are murdered with any 'assault' rifle, which of course they almost all aren't. I would almost bet that more people will be shot with a handgun in Chicago this year than have ever been killed with an 'assault' rifle in the USA, maybe not, but the numbers over all are not close. A reduced magazine capacity isn't a horrible thing, but they are easy to change, if you ban them completely then you have to think about other semi autos, like shotguns, which are incredibly deadly at relatively close range. There isn't a solution, guns exist, bad things will be done with them.
  8. So you actuallybeleive that more people are killed with an AR15's etc. than by drivers exceeding the speed limit? We need cars sure, but we don't need to allow them to excced the limits, we could actually control that, yet we don't.
  9. Sorry, but when people who don't or are unwilling to understand and accept the facts, facts which are easy to find, and still rant and rave in complete opposition to those facts, why should anyone provide them or their arguments with more respect than they deserve?. Believe what you wish, but if you think that a registry is somehow needed to stop us from becoming 'like them', you are wrong, you are ignorant. If you also believe that an AR15 is killing more people than o idk, just about everything else commonly used as a weapon, you are also wrong, that includes in mass murders, where far more can easily be linked to handguns. Again, none of that has anything to do with the original topic, and was only brought up as a deflection. Btw, fully automatic weapons as you put it, are not common in the USA, machine guns are tightly regulated, i would agree though that they are not something people need to own, and almost no one does. The Ar15 variants that have been used in shootings are semi automatics, many hunting rifles perform in exactly the same way firing exactly the same ammunition. But this is just another of the 'assault rifle' myths, an Ar15 is not an assault rifle, no more than grandpa's Springfield was anyway, as i said in a previous post, it's fine to debate the need or desirability of any firearm in our society, but to argue a registry prevents their illicit use is silly.
  10. O of course, tell us more about the moral high ground that you beleive you stand on. Of course if someone doesn't agree with a woman, or disagrees with some aspect of what you would characterize as a "women's issue" then it is you who gets to decide that we are anti women. The pool from which you draw your arguments is terribly shallow, i dont care how many women join, the idea that they need to be induced to join is nonsense, and in fact, goes against what im sure you beleive is their absolute equality to men in every aspect of life. We are equal, not the same, it is patronizing to women to think that we need to induce them to do certain things when they already have equal freedom of choice and ability to do those things.
  11. http://www.cga.ct.gov/2013/rpt/2013-R-0057.htm You're going to see the word Pistol, a lot.
  12. lol, again, the pattern of deflection, to insults in your posts is painfully predictable. Ok, now post something else irrelevant.....annnnd go!
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Navy_Yard_shooting Shotgun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitol_Hill_massacreShotgun, in fact, he had a bushmaster rifle in his truck chose not to use it and used the shotgun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumbria_shootings Shotgun, and bolt action .22 Anyway, the weapon doesn't matter, and if you look at the numbers as a whole, AR's are used very rarely, handguns are the real problem, but as i said above all of this talk is just a deflection by one poster who uses this same tactic every time he starts to lose an argument, which is almost every time. The registry has nothing to do with the usa, nor are our cultures comparable in this way, and when it comes to AR's in Canada they are all still registered, as are handguns, but as we all know, no firearm is used more often in homicides than handguns, again disproving the idea that the registry accomplishes something.
  14. lol, why do people who know nothing about firearms always have so many opinions about them. it's also a hell of a lot easier to hit something with a shotgun, it's not as though most of these mass killings have occurred outside at long range, anyway, as usual you moved the goal posts away from the original subject to the USA and mass killings, neither of those things have anything to do with registering firearms. As Dawson college proved, a registered firearm is still just an inanimate object, if the owner is a nut a piece of paper won't deter him from using it.
  15. That's great, this forum is free to use, and easy to find, surely women don't need help doing either of those things, if more of them wished to be here they would be. No one has said that women should not join, the argument is against the idea that there is something wrong with the forum, that something needs to change in order to attract more women, it's simply a politics forum, i don't see anything that screams FOR MEN when i read it. The idea that we must change everything in our society over some imagined wrong is all too pervasive, the fact is that there are very few men who bother to talk politics regularly, there also happens to be very few, and somewhat fewer women than men who seem interested. This is not a problem in need of a solution, it's just reality. I read the rabble forum on occasion, a further to the left forum you will not find, and im pretty sure that there are more men posting there as well. This is not a thing.
  16. They are already equally encouraged by free access to it's existence and by their equal ability to find and sign up for it if they so choose.
  17. its the sexy choice, but no more effective than a semi or pump 12 ga in close quarters, the firearm is irrelevant.
  18. How can you have any credibility on any issue if you actually believe that?
  19. so his numbers lie, and yours are the truth, well of course they do! Does anyone else get a mental image of child running around with their fingers in their ears yelling lalalalalala eveytime someone refutes their nonsense?
  20. Hey, did you know that you don't have to register a car to own one.
  21. Most of us didnt bitch about registering a firearm either, we just did it, of course it never actually did anything and that should matter, and it does matter more than your, 'let me move the goal posts just a bit more' arguments, but hey, it's you! that's what you do.
  22. The type of people who sell firearms illegally tend not to buy them legally, or register them legally. A piece of paper does not make your firearm inoperable. People who are likely to commit murder, or mass murder with a firearm are not likely to be concerned about its registered status. I know of no crime that was prevented (admittedly that is hard to prove) or solved by the old gun registry, it seems that most of the time the murder weapon goes with the murderer, professionals don't leave them behind, and crazy people are usually caught with them, a billion or more dollars could have been used to give police more realistic resources to solve more crimes. The registry was always a political exercise and was never really effective, and the trend in the firearms homicide rate was never affected to any measurable degree, in fact it's dropped faster in the years since the registry was killed, yes i know the two are unrelated. The Dawson college shooting was committed while the registry was in effect, and the shooters firearms were registered, the registry is pointless. It is truly too much to expect reason from some around here, instead we get arguments like, 'hey, we don't need new laws to prevent terrorism, even when attacks and threats of attacks are rising, all of our laws are juuuust right, but that old gun registry, that was horribly broken, that never appreciably affected the homicide rate by firearm, while spending a billion dollars to target a small fraction of total homicides, while handgun murders, you know those guns that have been registered for 80 years, continued to rise. yea, let us have some more of THAT. Cuz, you know, that WORKS! I would disagree with this sentiment, but wanting to simply ban all firearms to reduce accidents and firearms homicides would make more sense than registering them, seriously, every pro registry argument has been beaten to death for years, accept it and move on, as an aside more people are beaten to death every year than shot with a long gun. 125 beaten to death in 2011, 30 by rifle or shot gun, 20% vs 5%, 0 would be better, but it's just not realistic. http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/85-002-x/2012001/article/11738-eng.htm#a16
  23. http://news.nationalpost.com/2015/03/27/rex-murphy-the-modern-university-risks-becoming-a-cocoon-of-self-indulgence-and-anti-intellectualism/ That is a bit of a broad topic for this discussion, but it does relate at least in way some of the people on this forum think. 'Give us more women!' Why? 'Just Cuz!' But thats not a reason..women can find a forum, just like men. 'Don't question us, you're a bigot, etc.' The same anti reason arguments from the same people over and over, you question them and they go back to the same well, over and over, never can they defend thier pov with reasoned arguments, just like in our universities, you dare not question the progressive present or future, there can never be enough of it. Frankly i couldn't care less if there were any number of women's categories here, or if somehow more women were artificially attracted to the forum, but the idea that it somehow must, or should be done, is just nonsense. Equal in every possible way, except when it comes to joining a politics forum, that we need to 'help' with, i can open my own doors, but i need help being convinced to join a politics forum. It's all so silly. Truthfully though, if the people who need convinving of how ridiculous that is could be convinced they probably wouldn't hold that opinion in the first place.
