  1. Because as has already been said, the need to be on the 'right' side of every argument overwhelms any logical consistency in some peoples arguments. Im glad that women are flying fighter aircraft, but we already knew they could, no need to patronize them by celebrating something that is an individual accomplishment, but not one for all women. It doesn't matter though, if they can't attack your argument they will make one up for you that they can. Because if you say you are for equality, but you dont agree with their take on it, you simply aren't for equality, you're a bigot, you're a racist, etc, that's as deep as some here go.
  2. Neither is using that word when it doesn't apply. Only the fringe, those with no credibility whatsoever use that word to describe this situation. As far as the BDS movement, i say let them be.
  3. Of course, but women ultimately have all of the choices when it comes to having children, so i cannot feel that they are hard done by when they choose to have them if that means they get bored being at home with them, it's not as though they would be the first.
  4. Yep, this is the same left wing fringe hero that immediately came to the defense of Jian Ghomeshi when he was first accused, it's a reflex of course, he was one of them, just like poor little Omar who was innocent and pure until the Americans showed up for no real reason, he's just a victim of global hegemony, just like all of the 'good' people of the fringe left, they are all victims too. So throwing the female victims of alleged violent sexual assault under the bus and defending an enemy combatant by describing him as better than those who serve this country, yea, she's a real class act, right along with the people who defend her. But maybe someone will come along and tell me what my opinion really is.
  5. I haven't experienced much if any of that when I have gamed online, and i have done a lot of it over the years, but that was with mostly organized groups, with rules, and we simply wouldn't have put up with it. But in other less organized groups I have definitely come across some really horrible people and i suppose the anonymity of online gaming allows those people to behave the way they do. Also i wouldn't be surprised if the games that are mostly designed for males to play would tend to make those males feel more 'manly', more aggressive, more tough, more strong, giving a lot of them something they don't have in real life, power. It's a chicken or egg problem i suppose, but it doesn't surprise me that this would be happening.
  6. A woman can think anything she likes about anything, but she can also be criticized when she expects us to celebrate a non accomplishment as a milestone for all women, which to me is demeaning to women. Which this particular woman did.
  7. Thats exactly it, no matter what some here need to be on the 'right' side or 'good' side of any argument like this, even if it means they have to make up your argument for you so that they can attack it and then twist themselves into completely nonsense positions while doing it.
  8. Of course you were, i mean, you must be better than the rest of us, where would your self image come from if you couldn't make up peoples opinions and then look down at them for them.
  9. Of course if you ignored the poster who made the op you might be right, but we shouldn't, and you aren't.
  10. Im sorry that you are incapable of joining us in the present where women can do anything men can without being patronized for every little thing they 'accomplish', this is your failing and one you should try to work on. Keep fighting those old battles though, even if you have to make up your opponents argument for them, omg, i just realized i never told my wife how proud i am of what she has accomplished for her gender by doing so much math at work! Did you know that women can be good at math?
  11. We are, it was suggested this was an accomplishment for her gender, it isn't, it's ever so complicated.
  12. And imagine you just making up other peoples opinions for them, nah, not you, never. The problem is, some of us have just evolved past you, but you still think we are fighting the old fights, when we really just don't care what individual women do with themselves and the equality they have, no more than i care about what you do.
  13. This is a typical tactic of that poster, he will make up an argument for you and then condemn you for it, i think there is a word for that sort of arguing.
  14. Yea, cuz flying f15's is easy, honestly, are you purposefully contrary or just obtuse? Women can fly jet combat aircraft, as i said, and you quoted, this isn't new, and doesn't need to be celebrated as though it is, and while i don't know, I would bet the f15 is harder to fly that the f35. But go ahead, take 'correct' side of the argument even if there is absolutely no need for it. Hey, i saw a woman driving a car today, and she didn't hit anything, good job all women, or is that something we can stop saying now because we know that women can drive? It used to be that only men drove and operated heavy equipment, now women are doing it more and more, and it seems they might be as good an operator and easier on the equipment, but i guess the next time a woman jumps into a newer, bigger dump truck for the first time we all should celebrate, lets all pat her on the head while we are at at and tell her how impressive it is that her gender accomplished the thing that they already accomplished.
  15. It is an individual accomplishment, which as history has shown, is irrelevant to her gender, which btw is exactly the way you should want people to react, but you clearly don't understand what you think you stand for.
  16. So you think the f35 is so difficult to fly that a woman flying it is an accomplishment? It isn't, there are many very capable female pilots, its no big deal.
  17. Yes and every social justice crusader here can call anyone a racist or bigot and get away completely scot free, or say, suggest that if someone was to draw distasteful cartoons of Jesus Texans would call out the KKK to have them dealt with, of course those sort of comments are made by the same sort of, and often the very same people. Insulting...yes, inane...yes, more inline with the owners/operators/moderators/facilitators bias? Obviously yes, not seeing that makes you equally biased. How about calling people idiots and then others respond in kind, those responses are immediately deleted, while the offending initial post, 3 posts up, is not, it's either bias or incompetence, pick one.
  18. She needs to spend time with better people, also, choices have consequences, I feel bad for the children of an unhappy mother who wants to work more than be the mother she volunteered to be. No, i am not accusing your daughter of that, my wife also works, though she didn't when my children were very young and i think they are better off for it.
  19. Well if his lawyer said so! How many Canadian "children" are believed to have been killing our allies soldiers in a war zone? Not that it matters to you.
  20. Nobody needs them until someone does. Maybe the number of fires doesn't justify the allocation of resources, who knows, but I imagine there are other things that we could save money on before we decide that people who might be saving your life in case of an accident or fire are no longer required.
  21. This isn't really something new, women flying combat aircraft that is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeannie_Leavitt for example.
  22. http://news.nationalpost.com/arts/celebrity/avengers-director-joss-whedon-driven-off-twitter-by-feminists-horses-t So it's not true, except, “Believe me, I have been attacked by militant feminists since I got on Twitter. That’s something I’m used to. Every breed of feminism is attacking every other breed, and every subsection of liberalism is always busy attacking another subsection of liberalism, because god forbid they should all band together and actually fight for the cause,” He's a feminist, just not feminist enough for the crazies.
  23. Except of course we know that some people of some religions will actually kill you for drawing a picture of the figure they worship, but sure lets make more false equivalencies to cover for it, btw the second post of the this thread is absolute nonsense.
  24. Take it up with the CBC, anyway, there are i have no doubt, other examples.
