NDP Make Big Move in Latest EKOS Poll
PrimeNumber replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We can also dig into Harpers life as a supporter of the Northern Foundation, an organization here in North America that vehemently supported Apartheid in South Africa. But I'm sure you'd still vote for him. A picture won't change many people minds. -

That will never happen. Maybe if black people stop having black history month the white people in the US will love them and treat them as equals. See how dumb that sounds? They don't hate them, they just hate black history month. -
Does the CPC's new attack ad violate C-51?

He doesn't know that more than half the trades industries that build and maintain this country including the majority of oil field and pipeline employees are full time pot smokers. I guess he thinks they're all brain dead. Maybe that explains why the hippies don't want the pipelines to be built, they know their fellow pot smoking friends are to brain dead to build them right in the first place. -
What are the main uses of this technology in household and transportation energy?

That's just not true and has been researched. The real cause for food inflation is what should be very obvious population and the growing wealth of high population countries like India and China. Their population is growing and it is also eating more meat which means more grain goes to feed animals and that in turns reduces supplies. If the US or Brazil stopped producing biofuels now it would not change the rise in food prices. Animal feed produces Ethanol and Ethanol production in turn produces animal feed. Every acre of grain taken for ethanol or biodiesel doesn't mean one less acre for animal feed.

Instead of thread drifting on another thread, I thought I'd open a new one to discuss the BioFuel industry in Canada and why Harper was so against it. Here's a few things that need to be done; 1. Re-opening of the ecoEnergy Biofuels program. The initial cost was subsidies of $190-million spread out over five years. 2. Direct unused ethanol money in the ecoEnergy fund to support next-generation biofuels made from agricultural and municipal waste. Provide incentive for those next-generation biofuel producers at a cost about $50-million. 3. Start a $500-million NextGen Biofuels Fund which is used to subsidize construction of cellulosic ethanol and biodiesel–from-waste plants. Biofuels are created in the process of making cattle-feed as well.

The easiest way is through feed. America does it, we just don't You get biofuel when you grow cereals for cattle feed, in fact it's created in the process used to convert the cereals into cattle feed. Corn and wheat are the usual suspects in the USA. We used to have a program for subsidizing in place, of course Harper cancelled that program. Of course this is what mr. joe oliver had to say; “The government will not redesign or reopen the ecoEnergy for biofuels programs to new applicants,” Mr. Oliver said. “During this time of fiscal restraint and challenging global fiscal realities, our government has committed to ensuring that we balance our budget.” So of course balancing the budget Here's one upset investor.. "Our members are ready to build new plants today,” said Scott Thurlow, president of the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association. “They have shovel-ready projects which if the programs was reopened, they could absolutely make good on the previous Prime Minister’s commitment to have 600 million litres of domestic biodiesel production in place.” It can be done, don't kid yourself. It's just Harper and his oil buddies don't want it to be done. Hopefully once he gets ousted in October and we get a socialist in place, like Muclair, he may turn the tide on Harper's anti-biofuel policies. -

I honestly don't think the pride parade will ever go away. We might as well just recognize it for what it is. It's a day of recognition and remembrance for people who have been prosecuted by others for a very very long time. It's not going anywhere just like any other day set aside for people who have been prosecuted in any way. It is what it is. -

One could say equality will come when people stop caring they are parading though the streets. As long as people care to speak against it, it will continue to be worth doing. -

Who cares what color a bridge is, as long as I can cross it without dying than it's doing it's job. -
Marner, Dermont, Bracco and Nielsen, are all great picks. Leafs fans should be proud of management. If they can manage to get some good prospetcs for Kessel they may have a real nice turn around. I'm going to go out on a limb here and remember that you heard it here first. Looking back on this draft 5, 10, 15 years down the road I bet that Nikita Korostelev, who the leafs picked with their last pick in the 7th round, will be known as the biggest steal of this draft. I'm really proud of the Jets getting Kyle Connor, Jack Roslovic and Jansen Harkins. We came out with a Connor and a Jack just not as highly ranked. What also excited me is that the Boston Boooins made some terrible trades giving up Dougie Hamilton and Milan Lucic for what may be the worst 3 picks of the first round at least that high up. the bruins should be awesomely terrible next year. So I'm happy.

We could always pull a Brazil and just grow our oil. Ethanol for the masses. No laughter of children needed. Reducing our need for middle eastern oil. -
Somehow Florida hasn't moved yet. Owner must have extremely deep pockets.

Actually realistically from a "people who actually want to and like to watch hockey" point of view, Seattle and Portland will more than likely have far better success than Las Vegas. Having a higher pop. doesn't mean you have more people that want to watch hockey.

Living indepedently would actually work the best. If you can prove you aren't a dependant anymore, you are entitled to the money -
It's true. Even as early as the late 80's is an entirely different game. Vegas will more than likely fail like Arizona in my opinion. It's going to be hard to fill that arena night after night. Canadian travellers go to games that Canadian teams play in. They may be able to fill an arena if the Caps or Pens are into town but if a team like Florida or Philly or Minnesota or Nashville comes through. Theey'll be lucky tobreak even at the gate. Especially in a town where a massive precentage of the population works at night. That leaves very few people with expendable income to go to a hockey game on a given weekday night.
