  1. A cutoff age of 16 may be more appopriate, a 10 year old would not need 25k a year, on top of their parents 25k. Even if that parent is a single parent. A 10 year old does not contribute enough to society to recieve 25k of tax payers money, sorry but that's just how I see it. It's their parents job to feed, cloth and shelter them.
  2. Neither am I. I just know how to use the internet and read.
  3. This is true but many of these teams have followed a very precise draft and develop model, rather than the free agent market. Although they do supplement their teams with free agents like all teams do. Chicago, Boston, Anaheim, LA... many of their best players have come from finishing at the bottom and drafting and developing. Canadian teams not winning cups comes down to more than just not attracting free agents because of weather. some of it also has a lot to do with the fact that there are far fewer Canadian teams compared to American teams. Although we had plenty of chances in the mid 2000's, just couldn't capitalize.
  4. Let me define communism for you Communism: a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production by the people, with the absence of social classes, a monetary system and the state. In reality no one, except maybe very early tribal humans have ever accomplished communism. In fact no one has really even gotten close. The Soviets and Chinese decided to steal the name and images. What they have is closer to State Capitalism.
  5. What makes Corey Perry's statement even more remarkable is that the MTS centre is the smallest capacity arena in the NHL. Yet it gets the loudest.
  6. That may be true but there seems to be a higher correlation with players wanting to play for teams that can compete. If you can remain competative you can attract players far easier than if you have nice weather, like Florida. Its the small markets with the most ravenous fans. Corey Perry, who plays for Anaheim, said he's never played in a building as loud as the MTS centre in Winnipeg during the playoffs. Anaheim doesn't get that, even in the playoffs. Winnipeg gets it on a nightly basis.
  7. Sounds like you don't know what communism is. They already have you right where they want you. Don't take the red pill.
  8. I think it would be interesting to get an NDP government in power. I can't wait. Everyparty deserves a chance. If it were up to me each party would govern for 4 years with a majority on a rotation, it would be fun to see what gets changed. Politics is fun!
  9. Well if no one works, society ceases to function and nobody gets any money. The wheel turns and everyones happy. There has actually been a variation of this field tested here in Canada in the 70's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mincome
  10. 21 would be a weird number, uneven divisions. 18 could work, would make for some interesting hockey but NHL would never shrink, too much money to be made.
  11. I've seen some pretty fair arguments that Saskatchewan could support a team before Las Vegas.
  12. Well with this everyone would recieve about $2083/month.
  13. How many teams should there be?
  14. That wasn't my idea, but I was willing to hear it out. Technically everyone would get it, so we would all effectively be welfare recipients. Though I don't think children should be entitled. Probably a cut off of 18 years or possibly only recieved if you pay some form of taxes. There would be no other welfare, pension or old age securities as this would effectively cover them all. The rest of what you save for retirement would be up to you. I'm not sure I understand what a "welfare rate" is.
  15. Not much really, we already have most of the things we want.
  16. Did you stock up on lots of tinfoil too? Don't get the cheap stuff at the dollar store, get the more expensive stuff at wal-mart. Stops the signals better.
  17. Yours is unfortunately a minority view in this country. As we still have these systems in place. Sorry but we'll change the rules when we see fit.
  18. Whose stealing lands and killing the rightful land owners in Canada? Also wakeup call!!! We've been largely a socialist country for a looonnng time. In fact if you ever travel outside the country ask people from europe, russia, china, japan, ask them what they think Canada is. Many will tell you that we are a socialist democracy with a queen. We have reports that indicate that over the last 10 years, one largely governed by Harper, there is a larger increase in the public sector than in the private sector. We have universal healthcare, disability, pensions, EI, welfare. Obviously we have free market capitalism but our public sector is largely involved in it in pretty much every single Province. Sorry to break it too you. I mean were not Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Finland. But we're really not that far away.
  19. Well without those "lazy" people your capitalist society can't function. You see not everyone can be at the top for capitalism to work. There must be more at the bottom. Realistically making more money, doesn't mean you work harder. I've worked plenty of jobs for terrible pay that were much harder than the career I currently work with little education.
  20. It's midly successful. Compared to where it should be at this point. I mean they have a pretty long string of busts since Bettman. The game is basically growing itself in Canada. In the US... well they managed to get California on board more than likely because those teams are winning championships and being competative. Florida, Carolina, Columbus, Arizona, Tamp Bay, St. Louis, New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils have all been operating at a loss in recent years. Their owners getting expansion money might be the only way they hold off on selling. well except that guy that owns Carolina, he just pumps more and more money into that team... I'd hate to be his accountent.
  21. You mean those knew recruitment ads on TV aren't working? Maybe they need more explosions and tanks! Show kids cut scenes of Call of Duty, that'll get em' in the killin' mood! Uncle Harper chooses you!
  22. What he is implying would give a majority of the people more money, more than they currently have.
  23. It is steep especially considering most teams estimated values aren't even that high. That's that price of doing business with the NHL. With this latest Glendale fiasco, and the fact that Bettman stated no team will move conferences, you can bet that Arizona will not be moving to Quebec. Paul Allen of the Trailblazers has expressed interest awhile ago, although not very much. But he has plenty of money and an NHL ready arena with plenty of capacity in a City that could very easily have some hockey frenzied fans. My guess is Arizona moves to Portland. Las Vegas and Seattle get expansions. Hopefully Florida moves to Quebec within the next few seasons. Though I'm most likely wrong as there could be many unseen investors that come out within the next month or so.
