  1. Canada by a long shot. And don't give us any statistics without taking into consideration the US's outrageious income inequality. They work at below minimum wage jobs and Harper hasn't quite accomplished that for Canadians yet.
  2. It's probably got a lot to do with the quality of people their miiitary can attract. It would be the kind of person who doesn't stop and consider what he will be 'fighting' for but instead think it has something to do with protecting their country. We now know that's not the case. Bergdahl was as good as they get but they miscalculated and didn't think he was so good as to have a conscience on what he was 'really' doing. So far they don't face that kind of threat very often when opposing Russia's actions. They are raised from the cradle to think of Russia as the evil empire that is coming soon. Very soon! Few escape that conditioning of their psyches.
  3. I don't get your point in quoting all this about a knife killing. Are you suggesting that your country doesn't have a really big gun problem? I'm answering you because I'm pretending to care?
  4. You've accidentally taken the position that the guy can plead insanity and so you are ruling out first degree! Imagine that!
  5. Trudeau's mission is accomplished for now. He can take the socially responsible position of seeing abortions as not a preferred outcome but still a woman's choice and then campaign on fixing the problem. Unfortunately for the Conservatives, they don't understand what that is all about. Obvious! When's the last time anyone heard a conservative promote that sort of position?
  6. The long and the short of it is that the US/Nato's plans for expansion went awry. No wonder they hate Putin so much, he's tough and smarter than any leader the Russians ever had or will have. Billions most likely wasted in an effort to install a US/Nato friendly government while overthrowing Yanukovich's duly elected government. And then they whine about the people of the Crimea choosing Russia!
  7. Putting a right wing spin on things. We don't need Harper's politicians deciding prison terms for us, we have experts that evaluate prisoners before they are released. It's just like a rabid rightie to try to use one or two mistakes out of thousands to try to make reformed criminals rot in jail for life. The US experience should teach them something but they're not into learning. It's a gut reaction they have to not thinking rehabilitation works.
  8. Something made the guy very angry and I hope that we find out what it was. Unfortunately the RCMP have compromised their honesty in quite a few cases now and so distrust of them is to be expected. One thing for sure, there's no rush to judgment as your opponents seem to want to do. The Vancouver airport tazering of a man when it wasn't necessary really did cost the mounties in the public's eyes. Too bad because they are probably still the best police force in the world.
  9. I don't begrudge any Canadian who wants to speed up his health care by going to the US. He must have hundreds of thousands of dollars to waste for the benefit of getting it faster. That's what money can buy. And it also must be saving our health care system hundreds of thousands of dollars for expensive procedures. Having said that, there's still no doubt that procedures that need quick care are handled quickly. Our outcomes for surgeries is better than the US system can offer. In other words, you have a better chance of surviving in Canada according to statistics. Our criticism of the US system is based on those who can't afford hundreds of thousands of dollars. Only the wealthy get that kind of care. That's part of the reason why life expectancy in the US is dismally lower than nearly all first world countries.
  10. And once again, I'll remind you that this thread isn't about me and any other user names I've used in the past. Direct your questions to the forum admin.
  11. To answer your two questions: I'm not here to set the rules for the forum but I will make a suggestion on how to handle personal insults and attacks. Perhaps an escalating warning system which starts with a verbal warning, then a day suspension, then two days suspension or a week, and so on. It could be an admin nightmare but you have said that you dealt with the current problem with impunity. However, I certainly don't want to see anybody lose their right to post entirely. Especially those who I personally differ with. There is little traffic on this forum already. No, I don't respond in kind but I usually tell the offender that I find his/her personal attack offensive and I tell him/her that I am reporting it. I'm assuming that's the right thing to do? edit: I should have also suggested that I would prefer that warnings are not kept on file for a long period of time. Say, no longer than a month if the correction is heeded.
  12. Our government has control over our health care system by funding it. Therefore, the Harper government is in the process of defunding it and consequently making it bad enough that the people will go along with it's destruction. It's a slow process because what they are doing must be hidden from the people as much as possible. But even with that happening it's still rated higher than the failed US system. No improvements to our system will happen until we get rid of Harper. If we don't then he will be able to accomplish his goal with another 4 year majority.
  13. That completely and totally misses the point. If he's mistreated then I am suggesting that it will result in his death in a police cell before he gets to prison. I'm not predicting that, I'm just looking at the possibility. If a suicide occurs then we will be well armed to look at the possible reasons why.
  14. Thanks! However, as you could be aware, when a poster expresses opinions that are not suitably politically correct as I have done, the only avenue open to those who would censor such opinions is to use the charge of 'trolling' or being a 'troll'. So regardless of how one abides by the rules, he should always be cognizant of what could be happening behind the scenes to build a case against him. Be absolutely sure that those who resort to the charge of 'trolling' are using it as a last resort and in many circumstances it's not a futile effort. We can only hope that the powers that be on this forum are able to rise above it and respect everyone's right to express their opinions. Much too oftern that doesn't prove to be the case.
  15. Stop accusing me of trolling. It's a meaningless charge that is usually motivated by a differing of opinions. It is my opinion that this suspect will be subjected to some unusual treatment because his crime is seen to be the murder of police officers. If you wish to discuss this subject on a level that doesn't include your personal attacks against me for my opinions then please do so. If not and you persist in the personal attacks then you will be reported.
  16. And let's hope that he doesn't die in police custody. Because we know that he's in for some unusual treatment. I would suggest that some police officers won't sleep well until he's dead. Bets?
  17. Then try saying it that way instead of accusing others of ignorance or dishonesty. Or don't and I'll continue to report your bad behavious. Your choice!
  18. It's simply a case of not understanding. How could any individual not understand that if coal is piled up when not needed, the wind is not harnessed until it's needed? Or is it just more like a dogmatic approach to the issue for motives to which we aren't privy? I suggest the latter and am willing to follow through on proving it.
  19. So, coal is piled up until it's needed so why is the wind not harnessed to produce power until it's needed? LOL Aside from that, that post contains yet another personal attack and so I've reported it.
  20. You name the world leader of the past 50 or so years, I'll show you how he has been characterised a smentally ill. Until then I have no more time for you.
  21. Clearly a personal attack even though it's not directed at me. I'll report these until you advise me otherwise.
  22. Very well said! But your last sentence? Don't be disappointed, it's very hard to go against the grain of the propagands that is meant to demonize the Taliban. It's a fight that little people like us can't win even though we try to appeal to their higher values. Be content knowing that it will reach some of them and the ones it reaches and impresses will show you that they have been impressed by their vitriol and the ugliness of their replies.
  23. If you are referring to me then stop beating around the bush and make it plain and simple. If it's about me then it's jut another personal attack which I will report. If not then it's nothing but babbling about nothing.
  24. I appreciate your efforts. Please be sure to stay consistent on this issue. What was happening in this thread paled in comparison to what has been happening forum wide. It you intend to run a tight ship then I'm with you. If not then it will become quite evident shortly. Are you being procative on clamping down on some of the personal insults and attacks? There are numerous ones that I've notived and have not reported because they didn't concern me personally. Should I be reporting them anyway?
  25. That's o.k. with me now. You have walked back your foolish comments and now realize that you spoke before you thought it through. However, I still suspect that you are the type of person who would actually stand by your comment if you weren't embarrassed by it and had to walk it back. You can let the forum members in on that one if you need to. I've got you figured out now and won't really care how you handle it.
