What's unfortunate about the will of the people prevailing? All I'm really interested in now is how the new president elect will make it appear that he wants a unitied Ukraine with respect for the rights of the Russian speaking people. This is the illusion that must be maintained as he gets in bed with the US/Nato in their attempt to bring the Ukraine into Nato. We will all have to be vigilant in order to determine which side applies force first, Russia or the US/Nato? While on the ground the Ukraine is in the process of bombing one of it's airports to kill the socalled separatists. Why jbg, isn't that the egregious crime of the other side that started this whole affair?

Pro Life? Then Don't Run Under Liberal Banner
monty16 replied to Big Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Peace, order, and good government? Does that include putting poisons on your lawn that kill animals? Does that include allowing fences 20 feet high? Does that include running a car that's a danger to other drivers? Does that include legalizing hard drugs such as Heroin and encouraging it's use? Does that include allowing suicide and even encouraging it? You're most likely described the rabid right libertarian agenda of south of the border. In Canada those questions are all non-starters. Why not ask Canadians if your ideas are suitable for Canadian society? Maybe your idea of what good government would be is a little off the mark? Ya think? -

There wasn't a word of what I said that had anything to do with your comment. And I also sincerely doubt that many Canadians would go to the US where most of the states are making it impossible for women to abort a fetus with a doctor's help. Is it that you're mostly interested in visiting your country's problems on Canada? What's your schtick, saving babies in Canada? Are you even actually trying to suggest that Canada adopt your country's approach to abortion? Sorry pal, but that boat sailed a long time ago. -
It's the illusion that is going to be maintained by the US/Nato supporters. Which leads directly to the suspicion that they are going to consider that the Crimea, and the pro-Russian oblasts have chosen along with the rest of the Ukraine to side with the US/Nato. I'm going to continue to predict that there will be no cessation in the US/Nato attempts to encroach further on Russia's borders. Even though it's pretty obvious that for the US/Nato to take the Crimea back it would call for war against Russia. That's not practical and so the stage needs to be set for the US/Nato outcome to succeed. It's anybody guess on how they will go about trying to do that. It's only certain that they will not stop trying.

Pro Life? Then Don't Run Under Liberal Banner
monty16 replied to Big Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The term pro-life deliberately implies that the other side is pro-death. That is not correct for Canadians who understand that the proper approach is to provide social input and assistance to both men and women in order to teach how to prevent unwanted pregnancies. It is Canada's approach and it can't be understood by the majority of Americans because that is not the nature of their socially irresponsible capitalist system to which they cling. Justin Trudeau understands this as well as any other socially responsible Canadian does and for that reason it's wrong to suggest that no MP of the Liberal party is forbidden from being 'pro-life'. Of course most all Canadians are 'pro-life' and at the same time being in favour of a woman's free choice to abort a fetus. The American approach has no place in Canada and they should keep it confined to their conversations in which many of them become so enraged over the issue that they will murder doctors to get their way. Indeeed, bringing it into a conversation in Canada will likely make their rage contagious with the rightwing conservative element in Canada, resulting in the same sort of corruption getting a foothold. WE understand, they apparently can't! -
There is really no doubt that the US has run roughshod over the ME ever since it got the opportunity with the fall of the Soviet Union. For any Americans to not understand that they have had to do a lot of reconciling their country's position in their own heads. And of course the steady buzz of their propagandists has helped. So let's try to put that beside the Russian annexation of the Crimea at the people's request and through a referendum. We can be honest and fair about it and concede that it most likely was illegal according to the laws of the Ukraine. But for Americans to continue to insist it was something for which Russia should be sanctioned when the US escaped any repercussions for their guilt in the Iraq war, is just so transparently hypocritical that it doesn't even approach the level of aggression by the US.

It's pretty clear from what you said here that I derailed the thread but I didn't derail the thread but I did derail the thread! I don't know what else to say to you other than to say that I didn't derail the thread in anybody's mind but yours. And I haven't even been able to figure that out for certain yet! I hope you're more sure about the topic of the thread? Oh, and then I guess I might just as well remind you again that this isn't about me. That is, unless you want to complain about me derailing the thread? Or was that not dera..........

Oh yes it's true and it's obvious that most Americans don't want to bear the guilt. Or am I holding them up to a standard that isn't realistic for those who support their country's murder on false pretences. In actual fact there has been several investigations done on it and it certain now that the US knew very well that there were no weapons. MSNBC has just recently aired a documentary, "Why We Did It" that uncovers the remaining lies.

Florida woman granted asylum in Canada
monty16 replied to Peter F's topic in Canada / United States Relations
It might be fun to imagine a one to one with Florida but it's just not going to happen. For instance, what Canadian law would Florida choose to not recognize and cause Canada to respond in kind? And that's why this kind of silly gamesmanship doesn't exist. -
And that's absolutely a few facts that should lead us to fear the Harper government even more. That is, providing that the part about parts for electric chairs is true. I'm really interested in learning if it is or not. We as Canadian citizens can decide to not be a part of US evil but we can't control what our government is doing behind our backs. Knowing what they are doing will help us to get them replaced in the next federal election.

This Calls For Another US/Nato Visa Ban of a Russian! LOL
monty16 replied to monty16's topic in The Rest of the World
Thank you for your answer, as optimistic as it is! I feel that trouble will continue in the Ukraine and the US and Russia will continue to be at odds over it. If I'm right and that happens then it will only be up to everyone who is interested to decide on who is prolonging it. Personally, I know it will continue and I know which side will be pursuing more trouble. You see, I have to be honest and consider the reason why it all started in the first place. Your words on Putin protecting his Crimea interests lead me to understand that you're not unaware of the facts as they developed. -

That's definitely not true. It's very easy to find cases of discrimination against blacks and Hispanics. -
That could reflect on the real reason that the US continues to kill people. Because China and a few other third world countries do it. Are you trying to express pride in the company of the 22 countries listed above that the US keeps? If so then we have nothing more to discuss.

When you refer to me using derogatory terms or what I consider derogatory terms then you are trying to make it about me. Stop it or I'll report you for it. You have been warned!

monty16 replied to Big Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, we were once fooled into supporting the US led war against Iraq. But not twice. I would say that tells us quite a bit about what we knew was the real reason. I was around at the time and I recall that most Canadians objected to that war. Chretien listened to the people. Harper will not. Never make the mistake of thinking that I ever excuse any government leader of Canada for our country's crimes against humanity. I'm not an American lemming. And so, in retrospect we now know that the first war against Iraq was for control of Iraq's oil resources just as well as the next one was. Saving Kuwait was only a part of the lies fabricated to allow the US to kill people for oil. -

That sort of puts that one to bed! -
I am not a Putin apologist and to suggest that is a personal attack against me. Stop it now. I side with Putin because I believe he is on the side of right and the US/Nato is on the side of wrong and is only interested in Nato expansion into the Ukraine in the near future. Try to remember that this is 'not' about me.

Florida woman granted asylum in Canada
monty16 replied to Peter F's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Ultimately the decision will be made by the Harper government and that amounts to no protection whatsoever for any nationality attempting to escape cruel and unusual punishment. For exactly the same reason that Canada takes part in US led wars. Economics and protection against US blackmail. And that amounts to moral corruption. -

It does but they don't recognize the meaning of 'morality' or being 'morally bound'. -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_capital_punishment_by_nation Here's a list of the good company the US kept in 2010: The following 22 countries are believed by Amnesty International to have carried out executions in 2010: Bahrain (1), Bangladesh (9+), Belarus (2), Botswana (1), China (2000+), Egypt (4), Equatorial Guinea (4), Iran (252+), Iraq (1+), Japan (2), Libya (18+), Malaysia (1+), North Korea (60+), Republic of China (4),Saudi Arabia (27+), Singapore (0+), Somalia (8+), Sudan (6+), Syria (17+), USA (46), Vietnam (0+), Yemen (53+).[2]

Yeah, your Angus Reid also gave the NDP 9 points over the B.C. Liberals. In any case, our system of government puts resjponsible people in positions in which they "democratically" make decisions for the people and that's why it's not going to change. The corrupt system in the US allows the people to make bad decisions and that's why the US is one of the few remaining modern first world countries to allow capital punishment. Maybe even the last?

There is no doubt whatsoever that Saddam Hussein was on the side of right. That's now been firmly established and the US leaders of the Iraq are guilty of willful first degree murder and should be tried in the Hague for murder. If is definitely my opinion that Putin is on the side of right. Consideration of the US track record substantially proves that for me. Justin Trudeau is not a dictator and it reflects badly on you to suggest he is. -

monty16 replied to Peter F's topic in Canada / United States Relations
No matter what Americans think is right, we as Canadians are at least morally bound to protect American citizens that could be subjected to their archaic justice system. And the question of whether the law in question is archaic unjustified or not must be left to the judgment of Canada's government. Sadly now with the Harper government, Canada's government doesn't always act in a morally responsible way. -
Tim is dead wrong on all counts but we must not forget that in part he's speaking for the priorities of the ilk of Harper. Canadians need only look at the complete failure of the US system of justice and compare it with Canada's. However, I shudder at the thought of 'some' Canadians being in favour of capital punishment as Big Guy has mentioned. Don't go there, not even in a discussion! It's barbaric and uncivilized and is only a feeble wrong headed approach to fix that which needs to be fixed with social reform. A part of the US bringing back the electric chair should now put it to bed forever for all Canadians. Absolutely disgusting!

Are they really being played? Only the dimmest of bulbs could be played on this one in my opinion. I think that most of them realize that this is being played for the political purpose of demonizing Hillary Clinton. That's why I led him off the track for a while and that's exactly why he is now insisting on bringing it back on track. Adding in a new twist that takes it further away from it's objectives. He understands that if it was a CIA operation then that makes it only remotely connectable to Hillary's bad judgment or whatever they think it was. And that all proves that when you draw them out a little they will destroy their own illusions for you. Pathetic!
