  1. Oh well and Andrew Sheer's name was not even included in the poll. This thing was rigged to fail. Tell you something I find a little odd about the fellow. He's always smiling. I have watched the news for a few days now looking for a single shot where he is not smiling- never happened. Perhaps he's clued in to the fact that people like you more when you're smiling, no matter what you actually have to say.
  2. This thread finally makes more sense...
  3. Methinks that liberal hedonist society is primarily interested in self-pleasure, which degenerates to fetishism and the need for constantly stronger stimulants. As western society evolves far ahead of more primitive cultures, the problems we face in day to day life become increasingly abstract. We fret over the slightest of things. We yap incessantly about them, and become weaker. Meanwhile old-world man squats in the bush, getting stronger. Witness the fact that our population is in decline as young people turn away from traditional relationships, raising fewer children every year. Old world man has no problem with it, their families are always large and their numbers increasing. This is necessary in their homeland just to survive, since their mortality is high, and so they carry on. There are projections that within 50 years western countries will be dominated by non-whites. Will they continue along the lines of the culture that we have developed, or stick with their own? That's an issue.
  4. Hardcore extremist socialists tend to use a brutal approach to solving the worlds dilemmas. There is no room for "otherness". If the other suddenly appears, as they always do, the reaction by the grey masses living in Omni's world is one of abject horror. Horror, and fear. The other would be arrested, thrown in prison, given 40 lashes and finally crucified. Then burned at the stake, and beheaded. The other in one example is a black woman. In another example it's a white kid with red hair. In another, it's a sensitive person who has different gifts, an artist, an eccentric genius. The other is sometimes the one who propels all of humanity forward in one great leap. Not so in Omni's futureworld. Your vision of utopia is abominable, not unlike the eugenicist, racist views of post-Darwinian Europe, led by Nazis and Bolshevieken. Because of this, their world (and yours) is doomed to failure. Thank God that Winston Churchill, that bitter old imperialist, drunken very white man, had the determination to rally the English and Americans to stand together and fight for our freedoms. We shall not surrender.
  5. Shouldn't you at least wait for evidence, before you exhale? Look at the times we live in, look at the way the media is being used to manipulate everyone's opinion.
  6. Trump represents the reaction to too many years of unfettered leftism. Looking out at the real problems in the world, this is what is needed now, at this time. No amount of nice sounding words, conciliation or sunny ways will stop the advance of the real crazy bastards, those who are actively developing very real threats. I'm talking about that cray SOB in North Korea. Now there's a real bully to be worried about. As a kid I dealt with bullies many times. When I was little I was routinely beaten up on the way to school. It is in my nature to fight bullies, even if I see them bullying someone else, not me. Soon I learned that the one thing that makes them stand down is to be willing to stand up against them. Then that bully really hates you, and with that hate comes a peculiar form of respect. An Obama could not achieve this, he talks too much.
  7. You mean, what a lovable asshole.
  8. He was my pick though I knew he wouldn't win. I read all the policy pages, thought his was the best. http://chrisalexander.ca/policy-1/ But he simply doesn't have the charisma, which is of utmost importance these days. All candidate policies were fairly similar in some ways, with subtle differences. Some candidates mentioned gun rights. I think that is a non-important issue for federal politics these days, just mere pandering. Others had very little information at all. Andrew Sheer's page is gone now, unfortunately. Every link just redirects to "Thank you".
  9. Sometimes black women straighten their hair, presumably to look like "everyone else". But their skin is still dark. If they suddenly appeared in Omni's future world, people would not be able to accept someone so different. They would be locked up, prevented from breeding in their own free will until their genetics is diluted. Omni's future world is a nightmare vision. Although it was intended to promote tolerance it does so be eradicating differences, not tolerating them. It is, ironically, even more intolerant.
  10. People have a natural tendency to want to preserve their uniqueness, for the sake of heritage. There could be many reasons why they want this, like honouring the memory of their forefathers. I have no problem living with people of different skin colours, religions, cultures or what have you. I see no need to abolish those differences, in fact quite the opposite, better that they are preserved, uniquely so that my children carry on the traditions of our family, and those who came before us. This is provided these cultures coexist peacefully under the legal framework of our country. Of course there are other reasons for not wanting people to come into Canada, like economics.
  11. Nobody's perfect
  12. Xenophobia goes far beyond the simple view that it's about skin colour. In the west, many people of "colour" live comfortably among each other, within the broad (and not particularly well-defined) confines of western culture. Ideas about tolerance, permissiveness are considered quite normal, as is inter-racial love. So what you propose is not a useful solution to the problem of xenophobia. It's when people who are intolerant come in, demanding to preserve those primitive elements of their culture that we see problems in this regard.
  13. And yet Muslim terrorists kill other Muslims in far greater numbers, constantly. It's not exclusively the fault of the west.
  14. We are the hollow men
    We are the stuffed men
    Leaning together
    Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!

    Our dried voices, when
    We whisper together
    Are quiet and meaningless
    As wind in dry grass
or rats' feet over broken glass
    In our dry cellar.

    1. DogOnPorch

      DogOnPorch

Shape without form, shade without colour,
      Paralysed force, gesture without motion;

      Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us—if at all—not as lost
      Violent souls, but only
      As the hollow men
      The stuffed men.

    2. DogOnPorch

      DogOnPorch

Eyes I dare not meet in dreams
      In death's dream kingdom
      These do not appear:
      There, the eyes are
      Sunlight on a broken column
      There, is a tree swinging
      And voices are
      In the wind's singing
      More distant and more solemn
      Than a fading star.

  15. I say it should be Chris Alexander, but it won't be. It'll probably be Maxime Bernier, whom I see as Stephen Harper reincarnated. Even the picture on his website looks like a Harper publicity shot, complete with family and casual looking "working class hero" shirt. The poll shows a majority of votes for Kevin O'Leary. Polls...
  16. That's what I wrote in my status update.
  17. That's not how I interpret the Bible, in the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdelene - a key and crucial difference that sets Christianity apart. It's my perception that Islamic religious writings condone physical abuse of women, but I'm no expert. I'll leave it to others more well-versed in Islam to chime in in they have relevant information.
  18. I don't think our society views it more acceptable for women to be violent, but that a man should not strike a woman. If I were involved in an alteration where a woman wants to attack me, I would defend my self and restrain her, but not necessarily hit her. Well, maybe a little if she won't stop. But the point of it would be to end the physical attack, not inflict harm. Most likely this attitude comes from a perception that women are disempowered compared to men, generally, and often physically smaller and weaker. This cultural attitude (not to harm women physically) is in itself interesting in comparison with that of another culture.
  19. Shovel for me again? Wow, thats like being on the honour role
  20. Nice. Now if only you could stop your lips from moving while reading, that would be progress.
  21. You read the whole thing? All you needed to do was read the first sentence. President Trump gave a measured, disciplined speech to the Muslim world in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, reading entirely off TelePromptTer.
  22. It shouldn't. Perhaps try lubricant
  23. It comes from your obsession to avoid facts at any cost. https://www.axios.com/trumps-talk-to-muslim-world-shifts-from-typical-rhetoric-2416668128.html
