Native complaints about Canada's 150th
OftenWrong replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Inuits have the same problem here in Canada. I never heard of the lost-land theory but at this point in time, indians are not under threat of having anything taken away. Yet still they wallow in despair, alcoholism, violence towards their women. This is a cultural problem that has been learned and passed on from parents to children. This lifestyle is now part of their culture. -
America under President Trump

The president has a lot more important things to deal with than the kind of crap you are worried about. -

Native complaints about Canada's 150th

It needs proper oversight, from a non-indian. -
Nobody's attacking you either, idiot.

No laws were broken. They did not issue death threats, nor call for the death of any person or group. They didn't advocate violence in any form, unlike the reaction we've seen by some on the left.

What if I choose instead to pick up my weapon, and stand opposed?

Sure they are. Canadians are a cross-section of all sorts of people.

Well this policy stance toward Iran and Saudi Arabia goes back a lot further than recent times. Also, while you are probably right about SA, everything you said is also probably true word for word about Iran. There's no reason to embrace them as friends or good guys. So finally the decision cannot rest on whether or not they let little girls go to school, that is a joke to make ignorant liberals feel good about western motivations. I suspect it has more to do with who is willing to cooperate with us in business, economy and global security and who is making statements like "Death to the Great Satan".

Yes, the laws, constitution or what have you are what they are. That is not going to change any time soon, and so here is the result. This is a total morass, and I mean mor-ass. My view is that he was not initially responsible for what happened, his fate was sealed. But that doesn't change the fact of what he is, and has done. What angers me is that these kind of political/judicial/administrative errors are the result of bungling fools who have no accountability for their actions. Successive Canadian and US governments were involved, as well as various intelligence agencies and courts. These bungling jackasses should be held responsible for giving away my tax money to a person who is a traitor and killer, a maker of IED's no less. They made him and his terrorist-supporting family quite rich. This pisses me off immensely. Mr. Trudeau, please explain to me why I should continue to be honest and fair when paying my taxes.

And in Canada, they get $10M. Working for Al Qaeda can be quite lucrative!

It's my understanding that the whole security apparatus depends on international cooperation from allied countries who have the ability to track persons entering, living in and leaving their countries. This becomes a world-wide security web. Most countries are on board and able to provide the quality of information necessary to "vet" a person who is entering or leaving, and share this info with Canada. Point is the ability for a foreigner to use an eTA depends on whether the level of security in their country of origin is up to this standard that is considered to be trustworthy. Otherwise they apply for a visa and are carefully scrutinized. So for the eTA to be used in a place like the Ukraine or Mexico, those countries have to improve their reputation for security screening. Some regions are not well developed, they have marginal government oversight, unsettled areas, nomads, lawless areas. For example Somalians won't be eligible for an eTA any time soon. Nor will they be signing up an account on Facebook.

Of course not. The point of the information was to demonstrate that such hacking is common in every election,in every country and that previous US democrat governments have carried out in similar activities. Many people are not aware of how common it is, and how far back in history the techniques of election manipulation go. The fact that Russians even tried to hack the election? Absolutely nothing new here. Therefore it should be guarded against, and it is... constantly, part of an ongoing battle.

Nothing definitive. I'm waiting for actual facts. I will know they have them when legal action is taken, not when people like you mouth off with your speculation. As you said... "Best to wait and see what they come up with..."

Election hacking by foreign governments is common, and nothing new. Even among so-called allies in some cases. Lots to learn about here- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_electoral_intervention

I was questioning your assertion that it's a federal crime. Is it?
-
I don't think so, but if you have evidence that it is please show it.

Christian fined $12,000 for not removing his shoes.
OftenWrong replied to taxme's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I'm not sure what the laws are regarding trespassing, but it seems fair to me that if you rent an apartment, since you are paying for it the only reason the landlord can enter without permission is for an emergency (like flood from plumbing, or what have you). Otherwise it's private property and they have to abide by your wishes. Even as regards police entry into a home without a warrant, they cannot enter unless the resident permits it. Except for extenuating circumstances of course. A fine of $12,000 is completely ridiculous given the circumstances. Hopefully the person can appeal this decision.
