  1. This is how politics works and it isn't going to change anytime soon. If Hillary goes with a Hispanic, or woman or whoever, I am sure she will pick someone with far more intelligence and political savvy than Palin.
  2. It leaves you with a few million bucks and the opportunity to retire somewhere else at a much lower cost of living where your dollar goes farther. There are plenty of other places to buy a home in the lower mainland that are much cheaper than Vancouver, like Wilbur mentioned above, the fraser valley.
  3. You already responded with this exactly reply??
  4. This is the first time the Upper Canada Law Society has barred any students from any university to article in Ontario. This is setting a precedent and for them to do this, there must have been some serious discussions going on. This wasn't a knee jerk reaction.
  5. The issue is that the university will discriminate against students. And this IMO is taking a few steps backwards with regards to equal rights in Canada.
  6. Nova Scotia's Barrister Society has issued their ruling: They will only accept articling students from the school if it changes the covenant for law students or allows them to opt out. Elaine Craig, a faculty member at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, told the society panel that endorsing the institution would amount to sanctioning "blatant and explicit discrimination" and is not consistent with Charter values.
  7. Looks like the BC society will be looking at their decision again. Criminal lawyer Michael Mulligan collected 1,303 signatures on a petition that will force a special general meeting of the society’s whole membership within 60 days to revisit the issue. He collected double the signatures that were required to force a general meeting. On another note regarding Ontario's decision: "Their ruling could also create turmoil on a national scale. Some lawyers have voiced concerns that having one provincial law society deny accreditation when other provincial societies have granted it could threaten a new national mobility regime that allows lawyers licensed in one province to practise across Canada. The system took more than a decade to establish, and leaders of the Law Society of Alberta have warned that a decision such as the LSUC’s could pose a “direct threat” to mobility agreements." It will be interesting to see what NS decides today but I'm guessing they will vote the same as the Upper Canada Law Society.
  8. Magee. Instead of looking at it as being a minority, if you were lucky enough to have purchased a home back in the day, you'd be a multi millionaire.
  9. And he has both! Not a bad choice.
  10. Not sure why you would say that, but who cares.
  11. Ronald Reagan was 70 years old when he was elected. And I suspect Hillary is now feeling invigorated and refreshed with a grandchild on the way. What if it's a girl! She will want to leave a legacy for her grandchild!
  12. I just read that It would not be the first time two women have run together: (Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala were running mates on the Green Party ticket in 2012.). However, it would be the first time for a major party.
  13. Michelle Obama would be great and like I said previously, anyone who didn't like two women on the ticket wouldn't vote for Hillary anyway. However, I don't think that Michelle is into politics like her husband is. Dave Letterman, hmmm, now that could be interesting.
  14. Exactly. My concern is with infants being around these children who have not been vaccinated. Infants don't get vaccinated against measles until they are at least a year old.
  15. I think having two women on the ticket would be great for american politics. After all, the only people who wouldn't like this idea wouldn't vote for Hillary anyway.
  16. He's too old, but If he were younger, he wouldn't be a bad choice.
  17. Well, Jeb could be a possibility! Stranger things have happened.
  18. And jews tend to marry another jew.
  19. The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society will vote on Friday on whether to accredit the new law school.
  20. Now, I know that Hillary Clinton has not officially said she will run, but you can bet she is! I would like to see her pick Elizabeth Warren as her running mate but sounds like a hispanic would make more sense. Who do you think she should pick as her running mate?
  21. The Ontario Law Society isn't preventing them from attending the university. They are just refusing them to practice law in Ontario.
  22. Yes, I wonder what made the law society approve them. I think there is more to this story than is being publicized.
  23. The policies at this university will be contrary to public policy in Ontario. In Ontario, gay marriage is embraced and common-law relationships are recognized.
