The Trinity University located in Langley, BC is starting a law program in 2016, however, students must abide by a covenant that requires them to abstain from sexual intimacy that "violates the sacredness of marriage between a man and a woman". The Ontario law society has said that graduates of this program cannot practice law in Ontario. I can't figure out how the law society of B.C.'s board allowed this school to go ahead and offer this program in the first place. Read the story here.

The Purity of Aboriginal Blood? Who cares?

Indeed that is so. My kids went to school in Kerrisdale. If you were to walk down the halls and noticed the class pics lining the halls, the pics from the 70's are anglo saxons. Not anymore. Mostly asians, my kids were definitely the minority. -
Well, it's interesting you should say that because when he was in Vancouver in early april, a reported covered his speech before the Vancouver Board of Trade. He had also covered Pierre's speech in Nelson, BC back in the day. The reported noted that the elder Trudeau had more charisma but that Justin had much more substance to his speech. You can read it here.

I'm not going to repeat what I have said in earlier posts.

If I were a smoker, I suppose I might have.

For sure, he was a very intelligent man with a lot of passion for Canada.

A well liked leader tends to get more work accomplished than a private, cold person like Harper.

What definition do you speak of?
-
Um, no.
-
Perhaps I might have been speaking with my 'V'!

And there is more. Trudeau has more experience in the real world than Stephen Harper. As noted above he was a teacher and he grew up enjoying the benefits of his name as well as being a prisoner of such a famous name and being exposed to hatred because of his name. He was able to enjoy the wide world his parents offered, including travel, meeting people with brilliant minds and let's not forget the endless political talks that must have been shared in that household. And most importantly, he is well liked.

Politics, Privacy and Privilege

I too think they were at the party and thank goodness for that! Who do you think made the call that the gal had to go to the hospital. If these kids had of gone out to a bar or somewhere else, they most likely would have been too intoxicated to get her the help she needed. This is precisely why Harper opted to have the party at their place. I think he chose the lesser of two evils. -
To be clear here, the humpback whales moved from "threatened” to “special concern.” Special concern means: "the population is still not back to where it would have been before it was harvested [by commercial whaling], and also there are still threats, there are ship strikes and they get caught in nets,” These whales concentrate in the Douglas Channel, which is on the tanker route to Kitimat where the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline would terminate, and around the southern tip of Vancouver Island, which will see increased tanker traffic if Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain expansion project goes ahead. Since they are no longer 'threatened' but of only 'special concern', the federal government no longer has to come up with a recovery strategy for the species – because it is no longer classified as “likely to become endangered if nothing is done” – and that means the government doesn’t have to protect the critical whale habitat found on potential oil tanker routes. The whales will not have any safe and secure place to live, or to feed and raise their young. Sounds like a pretty good reason for Harper to change their status.

I would suspect that Harper probably thought it was better to have his son and friends celebrate his son's bday at home rather than at some bar in Quebec or somewhere else. However, it seemed to have backfired. This. in my opinion does not need to be investigated any further. Surely, there are more important things to investigate. -

Is that your last word? I have no clue what you mean by this. -
Well, obviously you don't live on the west coast.

And is progress exposing BC's coastline so we can export oil to China so they can further pollute their enviroment.

The Purity of Aboriginal Blood? Who cares?

I am speaking from the voice of east indians that I have spoken with who are agreeable to this arrangement, as I have quoted above. Like I said, It is not for me, but it may be appropriate for others, just as the Indian woman who chooses to wait and find a native man to father her children. I am still wondering why you have any business in these personal matters. Maybe they should check in with you first? Is that what you are asking? I still don't understand your disguist in this matter. -

Thank you for the article. It was very informative. However, I am not talking about 'forced marriages'. I am talking about pre-arranged marriages. There is a big difference. I work in the lower mainland of BC and so I am exposed to plenty of cultures and one of them is the East Indian culture. Now, I admit, there are huge problems with women and their culture, however, I have worked with plenty of east indian women and men who practice 'pre-arranged' marriages. We need to be mindful of the difference between 'forced marriages' and 'pre-arranged marriages'. I am certainly not advocating any situation that would bring harm to a woman in any culture. -

I am truly flabbergasted by your strong demands as to what other cultures should practice according to your standards and beliefs. -

In case you have forgotten, Canada is a multicultural society. I think you mean 'Smallc's idea'. -
