  1. I was just about to publish a bunch of links. I see that Jaycee beat me to it. Thanks! But I knew that regardless of the research, studies, facts, they would all be ignored, disputed and tossed aside.
  2. I don't think this course is just about growing hair to earn a credit. The course is called 'Women and Gender Studies' so I expect they are covering topics similar to any other women's studies course. Having said that, it does sound like an interesting experiment, although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have signed up for it in my university days. When you really think about it, why do women shave? Who started this whole thing!!
  3. Advantages to Canada of multiculturalism: Canadians who speak many languages and understand many cultures make it easier for Canada to participate globally in areas of education, trade and diplomacy. Multiculturalism encourages racial and ethnic harmony and cross-cultural understanding, mutual respect. Mutual respect helps develop common attitudes. New Canadians, no less than other Canadians, respect the political and legal process, and want to address issues by legal and constitutional means. Multiculturalism ensures that all citizens can keep their identities, can take pride in their ancestry and have a sense of belonging. Acceptance gives Canadians a feeling of security and self-confidence, making them more open to, and accepting of, diverse cultures. (less racist) Shall I go on?
  4. Good god, who the hell is Monty and why is he getting away with his BS?
  5. I like how you added in your 'other than ones with real refugee claims'. You covered your ass well on this one!
  6. These billion other people are not children travelling on their own. Do you see the difference?
  7. Not very worldly are you when it comes to the underbelly of foreign governments?
  8. It is part of the bigger picture of refugees around the world Shady. Surely, you can see that.
  9. You need to consider why these kids are leaving their countries before you send them back on their way. They are leaving because of violence, being forced into joining gangs, terrorist organizations etc. among other reasons. You can't just say 'send them back to their country of origin' without analyzing why they are leaving and providing solutions.
  10. Right, of course. That is the solution. Perhaps these children will make their way north to Canada's border. Than what? Do we send them back on their way?
  11. Perhaps we can leave politics out of this one. I agree that I mentioned the conservatives above, but I should have left that comment out. This should be above politics.
  12. Perhaps we need more support from private corporations and wealthy individuals.
  13. Well, exactly. The children seeking a better life and risking their own lives have no choice (in their minds). If we were to walk in their shoes, wouldn't we risk life and death to seek a life in another country. I know that I would take all these risks if I thought that I could escape the horrors and other life threatening circumstances.
  14. I think it's wonderful and i'll be watching the match for sure! She has had a lot of accolades, including from Chris Everett!
  15. This brings to my mind the huges number of children entering the U.S. south of their border. The U.S. has no choice but to allow these children through and process them as refugees. I wonder how Canada would have treated these kids under the conservatives? The numbers are overwhelming.
  16. Modern-day productivity has freed women from menial labour to pursue education and employment.
  17. This isn't about Hillary Clinton. It's about the judges and the presidents who appoint them. It's pretty simple.
