  1. https://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/heron-gate-mass-eviction-expected-canada-180817200106463.html Apparently, being asked to find a new place to live by a 6 month deadline so they can demolish and rebuild your bug-infested, filthy apartments, is worse torture than they endured in Somalia. Oh, and the best part? They are suffering like this because we are a nation of racists:

  3. You answered your own question. Your question is not asked in sincerity. Your question is asked to supposedly show how stupid we all are for not wanting to tolerate Islamic extremism in our society

  4. I started a thread about Canada's FEAR of Donald Trump before he was even elected president. This thread asks how "dangerous" is Trump. Canadian news media now labels conservative domestic politics as "Trumpian". Donald Trump has a huge impact on some Canadian comfort zones...because they don't know or have any other way. Must be frustrating....Justin Trudeau can't do a damn thing to me.

  5. We will have to agree to disagree. I don't think the "rights" of a few religious extremists should outweigh the rights of general society.

  6. Just as the man has appointed himself as the parent of the woman, the one who knows best, who has the right and the responsibility to direct her behavior, so have we relegated women to a child-like state, in which we know what is best for her and will impose that on her, regardless of her preferences or situation. We've banned polygamous marriage, regardless of women's personal preferences or situations, or even if they say they "chose" it.

  7. Telling women, whether they choose to cover their face or are required to by their family, that we will not tolerate them on our streets is not a very good model of either tolerance or belief in gender equality, in my opinion. (Quotes not working for me again. Hmmmm....) Perhaps that is the problem - you think we would be telling these women that THEY are "not welcome" on our streets. And that is false. They are VERY welcome on our streets. Come have a cup of coffee with us! Come bring your kid to playschool and visit the other moms! Come say hello to us in the grocery store! What is not welcome is the promotion of extreme and harmful political and religious beliefs that openly thumb their nose at our values. Again, I'm not FOR banning the burka, per se, but I am saying that it's the Islamist beliefs and conduct and the promotion of these that are not welcome, not they themselves. I disagree with you that we have to tolerate intolerance. And I disagree with you on another point - anyone who deliberately puts an actual physical curtain between themselves and society, does not get to whine about feeling "not welcome" in a society where such a thing is offensive to the majority.

  8. I'd love to open another topic on "The Dangers of Judicial Over-reach" but I don't want to clutter the forum. Judge Belobaba provided a blatant example of over-reach. In doing so, he laid bare the fact that politically appointed judges are not only human, and can carry biases into their rulings. As the appellate court not so discretely ruled - “It is not in the public interest to permit the impending election to proceed on the basis of a dubious ruling that invalidates legislation duly passed by the legislature,”. The danger goes beyond this judge's competence - it attacks the integrity and credibility of the Charter itself. "Inconveniences" are not affronts to Rights and Freedoms and legislation arrived at through our democratic process is not to be trivialized as such. I would hope that judges will take notice - and Canadians will be a little wiser.

  9. Paul Manafort's indictments stem from things that happened decades ago, that the FBI had already investigated. Nothing at all to do with Trump or Russia.

  10. The only people who can bring about democracy are the people of the nation in question, not foreign governments. If Iran ever is to be free it begins and ends with its own people but this does not mean we can not applaud the efforts of its citizens to shed their tyrannical council of Muĺlahs and provide them support as long as that support is for medical care, infrastrucure, things that can help build its nation positively and not one based on fear of religious mainstream fundamentalism.

  12. He never has. Provide the words where he has ever supported any Muslim terrorist. This is why you have zero credibility. You tried to bait him with pathetic accusations of him hating all Muslims now infer he supports Muslim terrorism. For someone with your track record on this board you need to learn when you bait it simply means you aint got sheeyat to say so you try deflect with false personal references.
