In the meantime, London has lost more bus drivers to the bug than doctors. Buses crammed full of construction workers because they felt that they should be able to go to work if they wanted to and could keep 6' apart when they got there. The bus drivers who died weren't elderly or near the end of their lives, they left behind families who now have their lives ruined. We're talking about a few weeks here, time to let the infection rates drop, time to get our shit together with testing and providing PPE for everyone who needs it. What people don't seem to realise is that if things open up and the death rate starts to climb we'll just have to shut down again prolonging the whole thing even longer.2 points

I just saw Horgan on the BC News talking about re-opening BC. The only thing he specifically mentioned today was schools. Hello dipshit. The parks are still closed. Would he seriously open the biggest virus-breeding institutions of the province first? IMO outdoor parks should open at least a month before schools.1 point

Former Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull has written an autobiography, and in it he talks about how Trudeau suddenly backed out of the TPP deal at the last minute, while all the other leaders were waiting for a photo op. It certainly makes a mockery of Trudeau's braggging that 'Canada's back!" on the international scene, and goes some distance to explaining why Canada really doesn't have much in the way of friends anymore. Former Australian prime minster Malcolm Turnbull has accused Justin Trudeau of “humiliating” other world leaders during negotiations for a revamped Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal in 2017. In a just published autobiography, Turnbull said he personally felt let down by Trudeau and upbraided him for embarrassing other world leaders when he failed to show up for a critical meeting. Turnbull said he was scheduled, by coincidence, to meet with Trudeau after the no-show and the Canadian prime minister seemed more interesting in talking about his socks than the previous meeting. “Justin always wore perfectly tailored suits that fitted like a glove, bright socks and on this occasion two-tone shoes,” wrote Turnbull. “‘What do you think of the socks?’ he asked, crossing his legs as he sat down. ‘Justin,’ I said, ‘we’re not here to talk about your socks’.” https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/worried-about-offending-trump-flaky-trudeau-humiliated-fellow-leaders-during-tpp-trade-talks-former-aussie-pm1 point

US Intelligence knew about it in Nov of 2019. Canadian intelligence knew about it in January. Sorry I should say 'intelligence'. I am no way a smart person, but even I was paying attention to it back in January. If an idiot like me can predict this, why could not our 'smart' leaders?1 point

I don't think many parts of the economy will ever open because of this virus. You have already witnessed the destruction of the hospitality industries (travel, hotels, restaurants, specialty shops). Independant mom n pop stores will disappear. The demand for oil tanked, mind you, those sectors were already hurting before this pandemic. Basically, we can expect to get into something called 'The Greatest Depression'.1 point

It's fitting to convey the breathless histrionics on CNN and MSNBC. The proper font for CNN's apoplectic style is IMPACT 200, in red, for 8.5 x 11. If your eyes don't bulge when you're reading it then you're printing it wrong. A swastika watermark, for a subliminal panic effect, is highly recommended.1 point

Anybody could buy a white Ford Taurus from a dealer as a service/fleet vehicle or for personal use until last year. Ford stopped production of the Taurus in 2019. Governments also sell used police cruisers stripped of their decals and cop gear at auctions and other outlets, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.1 point

I brought my kid into the hospital in Langley BC with a broken big toe when he was about 2 years old. We got in there at 5:30, we got an x-ray at 8:00 but didn't get into an examining room until 12:30, and we left the hospital after 1:30 am without seeing a Dr. I have never gone to a ER and not waited at least 3 hrs. I waited well over 4 hrs to get stitches on my mouth in New Westminster after taking a hockey stick. I really doubt there's an ER in the Surrey/Langley area with an average wait time of less than 3 hrs. During covid there's a lower wait time than normal because 1) people aren't out getting injured and 2) people are too scared to go to the hospital right now for things that they shouldn't be going to the hospital for anyways. I have a friend who has been an ambulance attendant since about 2005, he said he's having by far his least busy days ever during covid.1 point

I agree with the apparent broad consensus of medical experts maintaining the need for a precautionary approach in the face of such uncertainty but I feel the opposite when it comes to the certainty of predictions of devastation if economists aren't unleashed and allowed to trump real scientists. Economists after all are just social scientists right?1 point

I am surprised by just how little is known about this virus and pathology based on previous coronavirus outbreaks, and how much variation there is for what is known. The epidemiologists have been chasing the problem instead of being ahead of it. I understand their caution, but there is too much uncertainty and guarded pronouncements for fear of being wrong. "We don't think so" is not a very confident answer.1 point

It's a Shady quote i.e. without a link, probably plagiarized and then to top it off you misquoted yourself . I learned how to comprehend your idiotic spew years ago. Sure I do, I belong to a very middle-class, multi-generational multi-cultural family. Not a one of them is ready to cut the parachute free and fall the rest of the way. We're all quite content to watch and see what happens from afar. We're all comfortably seated and in no hurry at all thank-you very much. The popcorn is hot and the beer is cold. It's tough alright but it seems you're okay with a little Darwinism as far as people go so why not businesses too? Isn't the process of survival of the fittest the same? Personally though I think these should be assisted as much as anyone else to don't you think so too?1 point

What a polite man. We can easily guess that in his mind, it rather sounds like "we're not here to talk about how much you s*ck".1 point

Doesn't matter.....Justin Trudeau has proven himself to be a flake in other ways and at other times.1 point

Love the virtue signalling he made the countries to do. "Progressive" Agreement? Lol what? : Even more annoying for the other leaders was they felt they had “bent over backwards” for Canada during the negotiations, allowing for the clunky new name requested by the Canadian delegation, among other things. ...Less than a week later, Trudeau told the World Economic Forum in Davos that Canada was back in TPP-11, although he made sure to call it the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.1 point

No. You prevent a vision you choose to see out of actual context and probably a subjective fabrication brought on by anxiety. People were dying in large amounts before covid 19 virus and will be ling after it moves on. You experience the psychological distortion phenomena known from proximity. Things in your immediate vision including events, issues, actions, seem much larger the closer they get to you and vice versa smaller or not existent the further they get from you. This distortion is further fueled or amplified by, frequency of the same story or vision presented, its amount of negative content or anxiety producing cues, tone, length, amount of subjective opinion or incomplete or inaccurate assumptions and conclusions. In this sense if you rely on media to define your reality through the perceptions it presents, you run the risk of doing what you do create disjointed fragmented subjective visions of death. This is further amplified because you are locked in and do not have access to a reality not controlled and dictated to you. You have been placed in an isolation chamber and are suffering the same effects anyone would in your case. Anyone locked up in isolation goes through a form of warped perception. Its inevitable if you allow ths media to control you and you suspend critical and logical analysis. Did you see a truck full of dead bodies or were they slabs of meat being sent to market. Did you see human bodies and if so how did you determine they all died of covid 19. The internet and media is full of false and inaccurate reports and they distort what we see raising anxiety, fear, morbid obsession with washing hands and catching germs. They attract anti-ocial personality disordered persons and government malware-spyware to then feed off this like shit to flies. Challenge your fear, anxiety, challenge ge the info and visions you see. Challenge the data, the reports, the methodology used to report. Empower yourself to engage in critical analysis. Let me put it to you this way. If UFOs suddenly showed up providing a vaccine would you line up to take it because the media says they are benevolent? Some will, some won't ever, some will go hide. Then the question is if the military locksvyscdown and orders you to report to an inoculation shelter will you? Some of us come fro histories or here and now worlds of wide spread life threatening realities. Such people do not react the way you do to feed bodies or pandemics. Does not make them immoral either..but their reaction is less fearful and chaotic..working in a room with bodies in bags means after awhile th ed bags grow smaller then when you first see them. This situation requires we get a proper hold of our perspective on death, disease, what we priorize as large as opposed to small. We have a situation challenging us to change the prescriptio of our glasses. That choice behind and ends with individuals.1 point

Annual deaths from seasonal flu - 650 000 (5 000 000 severe illnesses) Corona deaths - 170 455 (2 481 866 cases worldwide with most showing no or mild symptoms) There are the numbers, but I am the mad one. Can you at least show some semblance of intellectual honesty and admit you are not sure what is going on? Or simply look at those numbers above and change your position to match the data and fight for humanity. That should shock anyone into questioning why we are down a trail whose door is quickly closing behind us.1 point

Because I'm tired of the Trump cult taking over ever F'ing discussion to laud their great saviour. Pointing out how ludicrous that is and arguing with you people then pushes all intelligent discussion off the topic. And it's pointless, like arguing with 911 truthers. Nothing convinces you anyway, so just shut up and leave. If you want to talk about Trump then go to one of the US topics and stay away from the Canadian topics.1 point
