Alexander Hamilton's vision for a strong central government was opposed by the third president of the u.s., one that almost everyone knows by name. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Hamilton1 point

Bringing in the elderly from other countries that goes straight into our hospitals on arrival needs to end.1 point

A publicly funded mental health system HAS to be rationed. There are in Canada many privately funded mental health providers. Medical psychiatric care is OF COURSE rationed.... but there is much more of it available publicly in Canada than in the US. Medical psychiatric care is really only something you want to consider if your mental health needs are in the severe range. Medical treatment of mild to moderate mental health concerns has been shown to be often ineffective and not infrequently counter productive... Once again Big Pharma has hijacked the system... much to all of our detriment... although there are some situations where psychopharmacology has a significant role to play... it is sad to see it taking the lead role in management of our mental health issues... leading to a lack of expertise in non-medication based approaches. Going back to a mandated insurance system is the biggest brain fart of them all. Why insert a private middle-man - something that has been demonstrated to inflate costs and vastly increase burocratic red tape.1 point

I am a practicing psychiatrist working with adolescents at our local general hospital. In speaking with physicians from the US, I am convinced our Canadian system is head and shoulders ahead of the US system. I can provide support to teenagers of all financial backgrounds that are admitted to our hospital with suicide attempts or major mental health presentations and hospitalize them for the amount of time necessary for them to stabilize without overwhelming the families with financial burden. This would simply not be possible in the US. Only those with adequate insurance would receive the treatment necessary and those without would not. In fact those with adequate insurance often receive more interventions than necessary which is often counterproductive. The primary concern with the medical system continue to be the over reliance on Big Pharma in funding research and promoting interventions. This is far bigger than a local Canadian issue. Canada certainly does a better if still inadequate job of curtailing the expenses and negotiating with Big Pharma to reduce our health care costs. Can we do better, certainly and we should.... And yes we look good compared to the US... but we should look to other models of health care that have worked out efficiencies that strike a better balance.1 point

CBC would never lie if caught-out. It is simply impossible for CBC to lie. Wait...no it isn't...and they've lied plenty in the past.1 point

Trump is a known sex offender who didn't advance the plot. Amazing how easy the snowflakes get triggered though.1 point

If Canada was going to come apart it would have already. Other than a bunch of whining of which there is no decline... there is no sign of Canada coming apart any time soon... I agree with the OP article on that score.1 point

That's a mentality that prevents anything from getting better. "Yeah, things kinda suck, but it could be a lot worse!"1 point

It's only fair....American networks would likely remove Justin Trudeau scenes because of blackface, brownface, and Afro wigs.1 point

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/donald-trump-home-alone-2-lost-in-new-york-macaulay-culkin-canadian-broacasting-corportation/ It's amazing how easily trumpers get all excited and upset but they dont know the facts. That's what happens when you watch fox news.1 point

It was done in 2014 to make room for commercials. The trump scene was unnecessary to the movie and was deleted. He only got into the movie by forcing the studio in exchange for using his building. Oh my, there was no quid pro quo, right?1 point

What 'actions' are those? I accept that you can not defend Islam as it is the worst system for humanity yet devised. Yet you still want folks to shut-up and let Islam do its thing undisturbed by annoying critics asking too many questions about your pet religion's motives.1 point
-
You feel the need to lie about other's opinions about Islam. I wonder why that is? Is Islam incapable of standing on its own merits? You're incapable of using your own Islamic doctrine to show I'm mistaken about your pet religion...which makes me think it isn't meritorious...at all.1 point

It's far more important to Islam's protectors to have someone like myself silenced than for Islam to reform. That's the simple optics to me.1 point

The Canadian government is the problem. But it would appear as though our lefty liberal/socialist governments keep on trying to keep Canada from becoming a great exporting nation, and appears to prefer to want to go the same route as countries like Zimbabwe and South Africa. Import just about everything. Canada will one day soon become a country like Zimbabwe if they are allowed to control and ruin the Canadian economy. Canada can never become great as long as the people keep putting in political leaders like those mentioned above who could careless about Canada or Canadians. Our biggest import in Canada today would appear to be massive 3rd world immigrants and bringing or allowing in tens of thousands of legal and criminal illegal so called refugees every year. That kind of import will destroy Canada one day and should turn Canada into another import Zimbabwe. Canadians always seem to want to elect losers instead of winners. Aw well. What more can be said about this pathetic country.1 point

Sure it would be a joke if we were at work on the factory floor, or in the line up a the local food store... but Justin is the elected leader of Canada, the highest office we have, and with it comes certain responsibilities, making jokes about other world leaders is not one of them , especially one that is our largest trading partner, with one of the largest economies in the world, not to mention the sole protector of our nation.... who can change stock markets with a few tweets, oh did I mention he has an ego the size of Canada, that is easily bruised... So why would he take a chance in a crowded room full of other world leaders but also the worlds media....He did it, to try and fit in in front of leaders he thought he could trust, or would atleast share the same sentiment right, again why risk everything for a conversation starter.....Why would he risk alienating the most powerful man in the world ? And right after he gave us a pass on not spending 2 % of our GDP on Defense in front of the media and world to see... An agreement that we signed on to, an agreement that during the last NATO meeting Justin wore his big boy pants and told the worlds media he and our nation have no intention to meet those standards, not now or tommorrow....Now these is a message we want to send the world....Canada signs every compact or program that comes out of any organization, but only keeps their word for the ones that are popular, or they like. your right it is about nothing , because we really don't hold any of our leaders to any standards, it was made very clear in the last election, after scandal after scandal, lie after lie, and still Canadians elected him, we don't expect a whole lot from our leaders. I do hope that Trump puts on his world leader pants and smacks Canada around a bit and firmly says pay up or git the f***k out....That would be the wake up call our Country would need. wonder how popular making jokes about world leaders would be then....would we make Justin a home town hero for standing up to the Trump, or would we electing someone else ?...1 point
