And you can see how it's fueled paranoia from the weak minds of the Left, who suddenly think white supremacists are under every bed and getting ready to take over the country. Even if they can't actually name any white supremacist groups.2 points

When I was in Toronto recently for my job, I stayed one week in an AirBNB. There were so many things wrong with the situation (really bad unit) and then I started to see something else. A housing crisis. The building I was in was at least 30% AirBNB rental units. And talking to the security guards at front, they flat out told me they do not like the situation as it makes their job harder. Who is going in and out? Also a lot of tenants were not aware that this was the case. I then started to check in to see how bad the issue is. A lot of units in the downtown core are AirBNB short term rental units. Overpriced small condo units for short term stays from travelers all while I see people sleeping in the streets. This is unethical. Several issues with it all, creates a housing crisis, artificially inflates the housing price market. Now I was able to see it first hand in Toronto, but this is plaguing every major Canadian city. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/fairbnb-report-short-term-rentals-entire-homes-lost-1.4971332 ]https://globalnews.ca/news/5147620/ottawa-long-term-housing-short-term-rentals-coalition/ I am not for regulation on AirBNB, I am for an outright ban on them being able to do business in Canada. But if regulation happens, that will be at least a move in the right direction. And will mean a good deal will leave the market as they will not want to put in the extra cost or effort to stay within regulations. Because they would have already gone above and beyond that already. It only took me a week to understand all this back in December and it should be apparent for anyone else out there as well.1 point

It looks like the Liberal desperate orchestrated attacks calling Canadians white supremacists who oppose Trudeau appear to be backfiring (see polls) The unethical Liberal charlatans’ fake narrative should offend every voter--- their race baiting, fear mongering and denigrating Canadians is their only election plan.1 point

It's a good gesture, one that millions of Canadians have said they would do, how ever they soon fold when it comes down to doing anything about it....and no we are not bitter, just facing reality....1 point

CTV and CBC will do everything they can to make it fade away. CTV was already championing the cause of government regulation of social media to block "fake news" and they specifically mentioned SNC Lavalin in the fake news category. If Trudeau and the MSM got their way then Scheer & co. could talk about SNC in the HP all day and we would never hear a word of it.1 point

Trudeau Liberals are falling in the polls right now so he will continue to claim it is because of the rise in racism and white Nationalism – of course - if you don't vote liberal, the planet will be destroyed in 12 years and Canada will become a racist country controlled by ‘White Nationalists’ which funnily enough, barely existed until Trudeau’s fevered imagination and need to be re-elected.1 point

Yes, in the face of ongoing attack by China through every medium but actual physical war, through the infiltration of spies, through bribing and coercion directed at Chinese expatriates living in Canada, through bribing of federal officials, through cyber attacks and espionage on both government and industry the Liberals and their paid columnists have instead created the idea of the big scary-scary white supremacist threat from the far right.1 point

And SCN-Lavalin has been influencing that for decades. So yes SNC has clearly shown their involvement of influence in getting the DPA law passed. Mic Drop.1 point

Three out of 5 top threats as identified by Canada’s Public Safety Ministry are related to Islamic Extremism. Yet our Prime Minister and Foreign Minister choose to sound the alarm only on 'alt-right' - and their definition. 2018 Public Report on Terrorism Threat to Canada https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/pblc-rprt-trrrsm-thrt-cnd-2018/index-en.aspx#s1151 point

Even the NDP recognize the sleaze Nathan Cullen (@nathancullen) tweeted at 9:56 AM on Sat, Apr 13, 2019: Can a liberal supporter explain how this fits into “sunny ways” politics? I’m not saying we can’t point out differences but doing the attack thing while claiming your opponents are divisive and negative seems duplicitous at best. https://t.co/BWOTefF9Hi (https://twitter.com/nathancullen/status/1117064023797899264?s=03)1 point

I actually agree with you until the last sentence myself. However I know many people who challenge how Trudeau has acted over Lavalin as one issue and their opinions over the pipeline issue as another and they want pipelines I also believe many Liberals don't agree with Trudeau did at all but will not say so out loud. Look the pipeline issue let's be honest, no matter who is in power over that issue, either BC or Alberta will hate you depending on your decision. You can't please them both. . The closest analogies we have to politicians trying to interfere with on-going legal processes are Nixon and Trump and in Canada Marcel Duplessis and Jean Charest..1 point

Why would you just sit there and wait instead of doing a 1 second google if you don't know the answer? How is it even possible that you don't already know the answer? I know you won't answer that so I'll answer for you........ You don't want to acknowledge that it's true, so if the information isn't plunked down right there in front of you you'll just hope that it never surfaces. Now that the link is there you'll just ignore it and hope that everyone forgets about it. You're in full-blown denial.1 point

Actually, that type of rhetoric doesn't really require a response as the obvious stupidity lies in the accusation. If you are stupid enough to believe in guilt by association, than there's nothing anyone can say that will make you any less stupid We know of course that this was always going to be the Liberal re-election strategy---Sunny ways was just a smokescreen for what will be a very negative campaign with Liberals calling anyone (as usual) a racist for disagreeing with them. But.... if you believe in guilt by association then here are a few names for them: Joshua Boyle Jasper Atwal Omar Khadr. Hamas Using the Liberal definition of association, Justin Trudeau has some interesting associates.1 point

Yes, the Liberals are certainly circling the bottom of the barrel as they race bait and sow division treating racism as liberal prop for an election campaign.1 point

He can't campaign on his record, it's too negative so the only thing the unethical, narcissist fake feminist who vowed not to use hate and fear (and is a pathological liar), can campaign on is and division. It is very sad: Just when I thought Trudeau couldn’t go any lower, he proved me wrong. the PM and his ministers' recent synchronized comments on white supremacy are fueling divisiveness and doing so for political gain. I don't think a gov't can stoop any lower than this one.1 point

You have made this assertion repeatedly with no proof. Provide where the AG has the powers you state. He does not and coming on this forum and making bold face claims without reading the dpa law, the Federal Court decision and the job descriptions of the AG and Chief Prosecutor and pointing out where they state what you do is not going to cut it Owly. I can only assume you read https://www.ppsc-sppc.gc.ca/eng/pub/fpsd-sfpg/fps-sfp/tpd/p1/ch01.html and did not understand it. Either that or you are just sulking. If you did go to the above web site please do take note of: 1.4. Guiding principles Given their interconnected responsibilities, an effective relationship between the Attorney General and the DPP is of the utmost importance in ensuring that both can fulfill their important public duties while achieving the legislative goal of an independent, apolitical, and accountable prosecution service. The Attorney General is directly accountable to Parliament, while the DPP is indirectly accountable to Parliament. The DPP is required to report to Parliament annually on its activities through the Attorney General and the DPP may be called to appear before parliamentary committees. Thus, it is crucial that they work in a consultative way so their decisions are fully informed. To ensure prosecutorial independence and accountability, their relationship should be premised on the following principles: Respect for the independence of the prosecutorial function - By virtue of s. 3(3)(c) and s. 10(2), the Attorney General and the DPP are jointly responsible for establishing general prosecution policy, but the DPP is responsible for the exercises of prosecutorial discretion pursuant to that policy (subject to the Attorney General’s residual powers under ss. 10 and 15). 2.2. The power of the Attorney General to issue directives Prosecutorial decision-making must take place independently of the interests of the government of the day.Note de bas de page31 The historical practice of successive Attorneys General of Canada has been to refrain from becoming involved in the day-to-day operational decision making of public prosecutions. 2.5. The power of the Attorney General to assume conduct of proceedings Section 15 of the DPP Act sets out the power of the Attorney General to take over a prosecution from the DPP. However, the Attorney General must first consult the DPP regarding his or her decision to assume conduct of a prosecution and must publish the notice in the Canada Gazette “without delay”,Note de bas de page46 unless either the Attorney General or the DPP considers a delay in notice to be justified “in the interests of the administration of justice”.Note de bas de page47 The DPP must turn over the prosecution file to the Attorney General, where the latter assumes conduct of the case, and must provide any information that the Attorney General requires within the time specified by the Attorney General (s. 15(2)). Now given the above wording and this entire site, in theory the AG has a lot of power but in practical reality the combo of 1.4, 2.2 and 2.5 wording I have pointed out above means to date in Canada since the DPP not the AG deals specifically with an individual on-going case and the AG remains dettached not personally inv involved particulary if getting involved would be based on a conflict with political agenda. That is why JWR would not over rule the DPP nor has any AG ever done so. The AG is supposed to remain the symbolic head and ultimate person responsible but not involved in the day to day prosecution of a case. The problem is we have people who read sites and do not understand the law as it is actually applied from what they read. The only issue that may have the AG himself ever involve himself in a case might be a Charter case dealing with a province trying to separate. Owly provide the cases and the reasons how the AG has over-ruled the DPP. They never have because of the combo of the wording above. Provide a case that says otherwise. None exist. Provide a legal convention, article that says otherwise. You have to do more than read things literally to understand the practical application of law.1 point

The amount of these STRs are counter to making rent affordable. You are favoring short term rental for more money instead of providing a needy family a place to live. What about those who cannot afford housing, OR actually CAN afford housing, but because of STRs like AirBNB are contributing to a housing crisis? Again I would have no problem with banning AirBNB from Ottawa all together. Not only is this killing the housing market, but also killing local hospitality revenue.1 point

Great. Carbon tax. Nifty idea. Geoffrey said it clearly. Expect $2.00/liter gasoline. Same with diesel. If anyone places an additional carbon tax on oil and gas producers, all you will see is a pass-through from CAPP and SEPAC. There is nothing illegal about them raising their wholesale fuel prices as high as they would like. Collusion is outlawed, but not the concurrent decision of corporations to increase market price. When you force a company to become unprofitable, said company will close or move. Tree-huggers go home. Canada produces approximately 1/3 of 1 percent of the world's GHG. So please don't continue with the platitudes about "reducing" this, and "cutting back" on that. If Canada completely shut down all GHG production, there would still be 99 2/3% of existing production worldwide. Try and shut my nation of Alberta down over such a ridiculously miniscule target, and you'll see seperation. And about damn time.1 point
