  1. For once, some common sense may prevail in SK http://thestarphoenix.com/news/local-news/colten-boushie-shooting-crown-will-not-appeal-in-gerald-stanley-case While we can muse over the racial, cultural, political issues, what is at stake is the judicial system working WITHOUT political influence. Claiming that the jury would not possibly be unbiased because they were white was preposterous.

  2. Sorry...I can see how I wasn’t clear as I was referencing the article which did state that but didn’t say it in my statement.

  3. I notice Iran likes to take credit for this lady...I recall the stir her 'neutral' Iranian flag caused. One of many who left Iran for greener pastures post Religious-Fascist Revolution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anousheh_Ansari

  4. The Shah, who later became somewhat dictatorial when pressed by the Mullahs, was "installed" by Joseph Stalin in 1941.

  5. @betsy some great ideas there, which I would summarize as: * Contact your member of provincial parliament for advice and possibly for direct intervention in the case * Contact patient advocacy groups for different rare diseases (and there will be many) * Contact the press, to put an uncomfortable spotlight on the doctor

  6. Maybe try installing another dictator there. That worked out the first time.

  7. How so? You go to the riding association meeting to nominate delegates. You can run to be a delegate. Even if you are unsuccessful, you can still go to the convention as an observer and work for your candidate. I worked for Joe Clark at the 1983 convention. I had a beer with George Hees, danced with Flora MacDonald, toured Ottawa with Allan McKinnon and got to hug Maureen McTeer. It is not whether you win or lose, it is how you play the game. Democracy depends on not taking politics too seriously. Politics is a participation sport. If you don't campaign, you can't complain.

  8. What do you think of throwing the police under the bus to maintain power? What do you think of going after the reporters who saw the video? It's not like you can deny what happened. How do you reconcile that? I'm honestly curious.

  9. Actually, they should return to delegated conventions. They were a lot more fun and better for the parties. The conventions gave the parties more exposure. Elliott should have conceded immediately. Drawing it out, reflects on her character and costs her any influence she would have had in caucus. Nobody likes a sore loser.

  10. He accused the Toronto Police and Toronto Star of colluding against his brother and inventing the crack cocaine story just so they could maintain power, despite his brother clearly needing help and not a lying enabler. Think about that. He accused the Police Department of manufacturing evidence with the Toronto Star when he knew his brother was a crackhead. That's like the worst sort of human you can possibly be. But I will concede that Trump-supporter types would certainly vote for him. It seems moral decency is irrelevant to them.

  11. Pone I can not offer the support of Betsy's link, but just a note of caution. I have done support for a patient's activist group and saw how the medical profession can throw up a "green wall" when defending their members. Also, the "popularity" of those members within the College of Physicans and Surgeons plays a big part. I have seen a totally incompetent surgeon who was caught drunk as a skunk in surgury - but the consequences were for the guy who turned him in to get run out of town, and he carried on as usual - part of being in the core of the "old boys'' club". You need to know your enemy better before you go after him. If they can afford it (and that really IS a big "if") diagnosis at its finest comes from the Mayo Clinic. We do NOT have anything equivalent in Canada and I don't think any health region will refer you there and pay the bill. I have seen some really incompetent attempts to diagnose in a few places in Canada, and the patients had gone from one quack...er "DOCTOR" to another within their health disrict and had HORRIBLE results (multiple ridiculous diagnoses WITH follow in inappropriate treatment - one of which was to cut off the patient's leg when an "out of scope" diagnosis and treatment had him walk into the meeting with Minister and our group all on his own). Pretty much every case I have seen that got to Mayo (including some referred and paid under our universal sick care system) has offered conclusive diagnosis and referral to the very best of people who specialized in treatment. Nothing is medicine is 100%, but there certainly are situations such as you cite that can be 99% wrong.

  12. It's impressive that Ontario Conservatives would elect someone who, rather than get his brother the help he needed, instead attacked the people who said they saw the video of him smoking crack and called them liars. He didn't care about Toronto, he didn't care about his brother, and he only cared about power. At what point did the conservative movement become overtaken by so many people of such low character that they consistently elect pieces of shit to represent them? I didn't think it was possible that Wynne would get four more years. Now it seems very, very likely.

  15. Perhaps, tell your friend to go see her MP, and ask for the MP's help. Maybe some support groups will know where or how to go about it. There's no harm in approaching them and asking for advice. http://www.mpncanada.com/living-with-mpn/patient-support-groups/ ------------------------------------- https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2014/07/30/make_all_complaints_about_ontario_doctors_public_trial_lawyers.html You could also try to see if CBC's MarketPlace can help: http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/contactus/

  21. No, you responded with death threats. Typical for Iran supporters. Iran will never have democracy...Iran doesn't deserve democracy. More immigrants go to USA than Iran.

  24. Nope...my comments reflect a very good understanding and disdain for Iran (Persia). Death to Iran ?

  25. Again your comment is all messed up and shows your lack of knowledge bordering bigotry. I told you the Ayatolahs do not represent Iran. There are completely two different entities. Iran aka Persia is famous for 25 centuries of rich culture dating back to the date when Cyrus the great brought in the very first Charter of Human rights. http://www.persepolis.nu/persepolis-cyrus.htm It is famous for its empire ranging from Chna to Greece. It is famous for freeing Jews from Egyption slavery. It is famous for being a great empire with a rich history. It is famous for its scientists and poets like Khayyam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Khayyam) and Zakaria Razi. It is known as a brave nation. It is famous to have the most progressive and skillful population in the region.

  29. Iran has exported/sponsored plenty of "terrorism" consistent with its own regional interests....not so innocent in such matters.
