I love it....moderation here at MLW is considered to be excessive and punitive by some, but given the chance (and power) in their own private club, they would delete posts and ban membership with equal zeal. What is that old saying about "power" corrupting absolutely ?2 points

Well, you could have a US politics group where every second topic was not repetitive drivel from anti-American loonies. That would be nice. Maybe a world politics one where Israel was not allowed to be discussed. But it seems to me this idea for private clubs is mainly due to the failure of moderation here. I've been posting at a variety of other sites lately. The ones with almost no moderation are... difficult. They're full of crazies insulting each other. MLW has unfortunately had too much moderation. In the middle are forums with a lighter touch in moderating, where insults might be deleted or posts altered, but posters are rarely ever suspended MLW's real problem isn't too much moderation, though, especially lately. I think it's maybe three loonies who clutter it up with so much crap that it's hard to find intelligent conversation. These loonies can't be adequately dealt with by members, ie, driven off under a hail of mockery and ridicule, because of the moderation, though. A private club would simply not let them join. But I fail to see how this is any more a violation of their 'free speech' rights that MLW cherishes so much than simply deleting their posts on the greater forum. In theory we'd wind up having most of the intelligent posters confined to these private clubs, while the loonies rant and rave to the empty rooms outside. Actually, now that I think of it, if I was to start a private club I'd let anyone join, even the people on my ignore list, and then simply delete any post I thought was stupid. Post too many stupid posts and I'd delete you. Agreed.2 points

It's the numbers is right. But some here just don't get it. We could stop all immigration for five years and we would still be alright. It is the doom and gloomers, pro-multicultural liberal politicians, immigration lawyers and the globalist elite who are responsible for all of this fear mongering that we need more immigrants or we are doomed as a country. More immigrants means more infrastructure. It's amazing that there are so many people who show so much concern about the animals and the trees and the water and yet have no problem with flooding this country with more immigrants. Are these so-called environmentalists and pro- immigration lobbies nuts in the head? What we need in Canada is less immigration, not more. Let us get the two million unemployed Canadians back to work for gawds sake, and then worry about more immigration later. I too have thread drifted. It is something that at times cannot be avoided. It just happens that way, and no doubt not done on purpose.1 point

Our dumb gang of politicians that we have keep bringing in more immigrants than Canada can handle. There are 2 million Canadians unemployed and we need more immigrants? Think about it, fella? And Canadians should have a fear of some of those immigrants immigrating to Canada. Many bring with them crime, more welfare recipients who end up on food stamps, and more poverty. The kinds of immigrants that Canada is taking in are not adding all that much to the economy. Those new immigrants pretty much start their own little business, hire their own, and pay taxes which go to creating more services that would not be needed if they did not come to Canada. Think about it, fella? I am sure glad that not all Canadians think like you. Unfortunately, for people like myself, and how we would have things done in Canada are in the minority and that is why people like yourself get to be able to flood this country with more immigrants, especially of those that we do not need. We need more housing because we keep bringing in more immigrants. It's that simple. The seniors are doing just fine and are still contributing to society because they are still paying taxes. The seniors jobs are being replaced by Canadians. Why bring in more immigrants that are going to probably take those jobs away from Canadians? The people in Newfoundland are doing just fine. They all have homes and jobs and they do not need more immigrants to fill any jobs that come open. Their children will take those jobs. That also goes for the Maritimes, and for the rest of Canada. All Canada is doing is just creating more of a problem and infrastructure. More immigrants, more housing, more infrastructure. What don't you get about this?1 point

That is the whole point. The pressure of our current population is causing over harvesting of forests, degradation of wildlife and in accessibility to housing.1 point

I get all my facts from the alternative media sources unlike you where you appear to be getting all your "facts" from the left wing main stream liberal media. That is why you and I cannot agree with one another. And what happens after these parents/grandparents have been here for a certain number of years? Are they then allowed to become a Canadian citizen and start to receive all the perks that go along with being a Canadian citizen? Can they then start to collect a pension from the taxpayer's? In case you are not aware there has been approx. 35,000 illegal criminal so-called refugees that have crossed into Canada this year alone, and that is not even counting the tens of thousands of Syrian refugees that have been brought over to Canada. And the RCMP and the liberal media refuse to talk about this criminality going on anymore and doing anything about it because they know that if Canadians found this out they might decide to start getting a little or a lot upset, and maybe revolt. "That's not even a drop in the bucket"? You mean that Canada should allow more refugees to immigrate to Canada? Have you gone daft? The Canadian taxpayer's have been forking out billions of tax dollars for decades now for all these so-called refugees, tax dollars that could have been better spent in Canada and on Canadians, and not a bunch of welfare foreigners who who do not deserve those tax dollars and who will never be able to pay back the Canadian taxpayer's for what they have paid for their being allowed to immigrate to Canada. Apparently, you have no idea at all as to what is really going on in Canada, now do you? You just like to parrot what your dear leader politicians tell you, and then you are told to repeat after them. I am a patriotic nationalist who is fed up with how this country is being destroyed by our elected politicians who are forcing all these different races and cultures and traditions on me and they appear to be only concerned about the rest of the world and the hell with Canada. You need to start visiting some alternative websites and try and get the other side of the story that you appear to be in need of. A drop in the bucket? Are you kidding me? It's not a bucket anymore, it is a barrel, and it is full. Enough already.1 point

Your reasons for avoidance behaviour are your choice. From day one of my MLW membership I have advertised my reasons and purpose in challenging views that are devoid of reality and slathered with anti-Murican neuroses. Some members don't like that, but it makes for much more interesting debate. Maybe...many of us are 10-15 years older than before. Some have even gone to MLW heaven by now. Still, MLW has endured while many others have folded. The owner has been open to changes (e.g. embedded images and media), and now private forums supported by the forum engine. I suspect that quality is desired over quantity based on my time here. Agreed, but the owner/mods faced a huge outcry of criticism when doing just that..."how dare they delete MY post !" One member went so far as to vandalize the forum by attempting to delete all posts. A key, common thread to all the trouble is a solution that the mods have repeated many, many times for disruptive posts/members....ignore, ignore...ignore.1 point

Sure...thank you for confirming my point above. You want more control over those who not only disagree with you, but in the way they choose to express opposing views. Further, you want moderator(s) to adopt your stance and ultimate solution for such circumstances. That this site's owner is affording the opportunity for private clubs and moderation suggests far more flexibility than rigidity. Also, I have expressed many times that MLW moderation is more about excessive workload and high maintenance for some members/posts. A tangled rat's nest of personal attacks, off topic rants, thread drift, spam, etc. If you make the police come to your house to clean up...they are not bringing milk and cookies.1 point

The 2016 U.S. electoral map is neither all Democrat or all Republican in the Northeast or South....that's just more fake news. Major population centers tilt Democrat while more rural areas lean Republican. There is no civil war. http://brilliantmaps.com/2016-county-election-map/1 point

Isn't a private club like having a forum within a forum? I can understand the rationale for having private clubs in that their membership is exclusive, but why should the content that is posted in these clubs also be private? What's the harm in making the private club visible? Its visibility would encourage newcomers to join.1 point

Here is what I don't want to see. More interracial couples and married ones. Personally, I think that all people should just stick to their own kind as was intended by the creator. Otherwise why would the creator create the different colors of the rainbow human beings? It was done for a reason. Does the lion go out looking for a tiger to pro-create? Or one species of bird or apes go looking for another different species of bird or ape to have fun with? It is you and your ilk bull chit that will be responsible for the Caucasian race to go extinct in time.0 points
