  1. Maybe the 767 had undersized engines and that's why it couldn't reach the "correct" speeds. Cheap-ass Boeing probably installed engines from a 747 or 737 to save money. So, to be clear: It was not capable of the speed at which it was traveling. Okay, that makes perfect sense and I should be able to use that line of reason the next time I get pulled over for speeding. "Officer, although your radar gun took a reading that my truck was traveling at 150kph, this vehicle is not capable of that speed so I could not have been driving that fast. It doesn't matter what you measured it at, the radar reading (oh, you're using laser?) will not hold up in court because I just said so. To obtain that speed, I would likely have to mount an engine along the lines of a CFM56."

  2. Or simply explore ways of making economies work in the face of stagnant or slowly-declining population, rather than continuous population growth. The world's population won't keep growing forever, and birth rates are falling all across the world, including all our immigrant source countries. Sooner or later, economies will have to work with a constant or shrinking population and we might as well get to work on addressing that eventual economic reality early. There are many benefits to avoiding rapid population growth. For example, with a stable population, we could actually build the appropriate infrastructure for that population and not have it be woefully inadequate by the time it is constructed. We could have cities without gridlock and congestion. We could stop needing to destroy more and more pristine wilderness to accommodate the growing footprint of a growing population.

  3. You will notice that Omni, another professional pilot on this forum has realized the futility of posting on this thread. I guess I shouldn't speak for him but it sure looks like it to me.

  4. I like Canadians who use common sense and logic, and despise those who do not. There is no party out there that I would really want to vote for. They are all too politically correct and too multicultural for me. All party's appear to be more in favor of changing the make up of this country, and to make it appear more representing of the rest of the world. And most members here appear to be all in favor of just that. A big mistake that their children and especially their grandchildren will pay for one day. They gave their country away so has to look oh so diverse. Way the go.

  5. Bringing in so many different cultures, religions, languages, traditions and heritages is a recipe for ending a countries historic culture, values and ways of life. So true, that to preserve one's culture and civilization is to only bring in people from your own background countries who hold the same values and ways of life and beliefs as you do.

  6. But, that is EXACTLY what every politically correct, globalist Liberal wants to do - CHANGE this country. It happens to be that the majority really IS of Judeo-Christian CULTURE, if not religion. That culture may be loosely based on those religions, but in most of the country, religion is really no longer relevant to daily life. Bending every rule under the sun to accommodate those who DO adhere to religious dogma really does destroy out culture as it stands.

  7. This is the issue for me too - how those religious beliefs translate into everyday life. Someone who has been taught from infancy that women are to be in submission to men, be covered at all times or else they are whores, etc.......that translates into how they treat Canadian women when they get here. That means they treat the female bank teller, female service person, female coworker, really any female they meet is treated very badly. Same for homosexuals. It's not just that they hate women or gays, they really feel they need to die. Now. Families that have been here for decades but still believe in honor killings, have killed their girls while in Canada. They are not allowed by their own communities/families to assimilate. They self-segregate into neighborhoods, mosques and cultural group gatherings that continue to fuel these religious beliefs. I know not all who believe in Islam will do these things, but the underlying thinking doesn't seem to change once they arrive in Canada. I'm sorry, but I lived in a high Muslim population neighborhood and I am extremely happy to have gotten out of there. I don't think the politicians even have a clue as to what they are foisting on the Canadian people. It's not Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau who has to live next to the man who smacks his wife across the head every chance he gets. It's not Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau who has to serve or help a man who treats her like a piece of garbage. I don't think they have any clue about how those religious beliefs translate into everyday life for the average Canadian.

  8. Haha, this made me smile. I had the same thing happen when I was in China. Not so much in the bigger cities like Beijing or Shanghai, but in the smaller towns. Everyone wants their picture taken with you or they hand you their babies to take pictures with. A lot of them asked if I was a celebrity. LOL

  9. Actually liberals and lefties are trying to change Canada to suit foreigners. That is one of Trudeau's main goals. Some of the immigrants bring a militant religion to Canada and do in fact demand that accommodations be made for them. My comment saying Judeo-Christian culture should a basis for immigration also includes western culture and practices such as western respect for human rights, women, our parliamentary system of democracy, basic freedoms such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion. Using the term Judeio-Christian culture does not imply everyone has to be Jewish or Christian. That's where you err. It is a general term to differentiate the west from eastern cultures such as in the middle east, India, Asia, or Africa. It has been the founding culture in North America for 500 years. Liberals want to erase that history and claim we are an amalgamation of all religions and cultures from every corner of the world, probably in order to grab votes. The term is simply a way of describing the historic reality of the dominant founding Canadian or American culture. If you want to deny that and say that history doesn't count, then you are denying everything we have such as our judicial system, parliamentary system, basic human values because all these things are different in Asia, Africa, and the middle east. I prefer to defend our way of life and not be forced to change to accommodate those who won't accept it.

  10. Since you constantly accuse westerners of genocide, who would ever take you seriously on the subject of Canadian immigration? I have never had anything to do with geneocide and don't know anyone who has. So what's the point of harassing everyone about it? What could you possibly say about immigration since that is the subject, not genocide?

  11. I don't think I am the only Canadian who believes in the rule of law within a democratic institution. I don't really consider myself part of any particular religious identity or culture, nor am I all that fussy about defining myself by race (although what my ancestry is remains a fact). My only concern is that Canadians have a choice in defining what they want Canada to look like and BE like - and that at this point in time is very much dependent upon immigration policy. I can see you actually DID spend time in Japan, as only one with first hand experience would appreciate that the most offensive thing there is to Japanese is an individual (which is why one of my personal heroes is Soichiro Honda). Unlike you, and most Westerners, I am completely at home and ease within MENA, particularly KSA. I can fit in very well there, but the last thing I would EVER expect to do or have them recognize is changing their culture to accomodate mine. So why would I want to change my country to suit them???

  12. Don't speak for me. I was referencing Haidr, and his social values. Brits would be MORE similar to our culture and values. That would thus make an influx of them less upsetting to those who possess the social value of ingroup/loyalty. You really should look at the video. Haidr is an excellent speaker and the video is actually amusing as well as informative.

  13. That IS an issue for both sides. As I said earlier, quoting from Haidr, 'open' types love novelty, difference, change, and diversity. Their virtually unanimous support for heavy immigration is coloured(no pun intended) by that. Were the newcomers all pretty much identical to the main population already here I believe their support would fade and they would consider other things, like the economics of heavy immigration, or whether heavy immigration put downward pressure on the jobs of lower skilled workers. On the other side of the spectrum, one of the social values of the 'closed' type is familiarity and continuity, as well as a strong attachment to ingroup/loyalty, ie, the preservation and safety of the group, or tribe. If all the immigrants had similar cultural values as those already here, had much the same attachment to secularism and and were much more likely to assimilate without greatly changing the 'tribe' I think the strong opposition against immigration would fade from 'closed' types at least in that respect. But I think if you analyze the economic information, most conservatives would still likely oppose immigration. Well, except that if everyone coming was from Europe their economic success would likely be much higher so the opposition on economic grounds would be much weaker. Anecdotally, I have mentioned once before how, long ago, when i was on an inter-city bus, a Black guy got on and sat down next to me. My initial emotional response was negative. Once he opened his mouth and started to talk, however, he had no accent, and his attitudes and opinions were not dissimilar to mine. I realized then it wasn't that he was black that had initially caused my unwelcome attitude, but that he was likely a foreigner. Once he revealed himself not to be I engaged with him as I would have anyone else. I have also mentioned before that I would rather take ten thousand Lebanese Christians than one thousand Lebanese Muslims. That is not a devotion to Christianity. I am secular and don't go to church except for funerals and weddings. But my belief is that Christians will likely assimilate within the next generation or so, and Muslims, with their values so hostile to mine, probably will not.

  14. Look back to My OP and you find his idea perfectly predictable. He has no particular interest in Canadian traditions, or in the protection of our culture, values or identity. He welcomes change, even if it causes chaos, and his lack of respect for institutions/authority and ingroup/loyalty combine to produce the standard, almost cliche'd anti-Western, anti-Capitalist mentality of the hard left.

  15. I would like to introduce you to a novel concept: democracy. If the majority of Canadians want this to remain a Judeo-Christian, predominantly white county, than that IS very much OUR choice to make. What puzzles me is why it is not alright for us to wish to maintain our cultural identity, whereas virtually EVERY other country is fiercely protective of theirs. Worse than that, we are the "racists" when we won't bend over and take it up the hoop to accommodate foreign cultures and religions within OUR country. Go and spend some time in Saudi Arabia or Japan, THEN come back here and tell me what you think racism is and what is or is not acceptable behaviour here.

  16. The economics of it all are certainly of zero importance to me. My main motivation as I've stated is to see humanity put nationalism and racialism behind us and start moving towards becoming Earthlings. A secondary motivation is the schadenfreude afforded by the angst of right-wing conservatives who appear to be utterly aghast at the notion. I, for one and all, am quite supportive of the Passing of the Great Race and the eventual blending of our species into the Race of the future where we all look like Brazilians or something.

  17. Yes, I'm well aware there are a multitude of beliefs in super-natural things. That's not what I'm getting at. What I said is that the respect they're afforded is a threat because of how it normalizes belief in super-natural things with little to no basis in reality. What I said is that Christians along with all the other other super-naturalists will suspend their disbelieve and eschew science when it suits them, and so will you. I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that many believers in super-natural will believe in multiple delusions, but again that isn't the point I was getting at. This became obvious to me decades ago. Some Christians believe in responsible use but many also don't. It's a fact that the most Christian nations on Earth are also the most profligate users of it and I think we're seeing a LOT more economic fanaticism than environmental. The object of their worship has a basis in reality at least which is a hell of a lot more than can be said for God.

  18. The Council of European Canadians has a great article called "Islamization of Canada - Without a Counter Reaction" - by Peter Goodchild For those who are concerned about the future of Canada with regard to immigration, this organization seems well worth consideration. http://www.eurocanadian.ca/2017/04/islamization-of-canada-without-a-counter-reaction.html#more "Globalists such as Justin Trudeau would like to fill the West with people who will help to create a vast dictatorship, where the main population consists of uneducated people accustomed to autocracy, and where the dissidents are reduced in numbers, taught to be ashamed of their own culture, and brainwashed into a belief in what is euphemistically called multiculturalism. Ultimately this so-called multiculturalism means a world of no culture at all — a world of no values, no pride, no self-respect, no past, and no future, only obedience. Tens of thousands of "Syrian refugees" have already been brought into Canada by Trudeau, and many more will be coming. Most do not speak English, most are not employable, and most are Muslim. And why is no Muslim country willing to take these people? Canada already has serious problems of unemployment and poverty, and our health-care system is rated 30th by the World Health Organization, yet Trudeau spends vast amounts of money on such questionable issues as his so-called humanitarianism — more accurately referred to as "grabbing the ethnic vote." The total expected cost of bringing in these Syrians is said to be about a billion dollars, though the real figure may be considerably more than that. And of course Syrians are not the only Muslims coming into Canada. Canada has the world's highest overall rate of immigration. It also has the world's fastest growing Muslim population. Yet most of Canada is barren land, not suitable for further growth in population of any sort."

  20. ... What does the Bible actually say about globalism? Would Jesus be concerned about a more global world? He seems like the kind of guy who'd reach across borders, not build walls. Well, they've been saying that for around 1980 years... they're bound to be right one of these times. I promise that when those multitudes with trumpets and pipers and kettle drums do arrive, I'll accept that as proof that you guys were right all along. Nonsense. Why do you view disagreement as oppression? Nonsense. What are you saying? People who don't believe in god shouldn't be in politics or media or academics? What kind of jobs are ok for atheists, in your view? Less caring? To me the right-- especially the American religious right-- are the walking definition of "less caring". What could be less caring than the "screw the poor!" attitude that typifies Republicans right now? -k

  21. ...just that one danger? That's the only danger of theocracies? "I'm not saying we should have a theocracy and I'm not telling everybody that they have to get out and become Christians. I'm just saying that if you're not a Christian, you're destroying western civilization, because of reasons." ... what are these dangers, again? For a man of such a loquacious vocabulary, Mr Black does a remarkably poor job of articulating what this danger actually is. From attempting to parse his rambling, scatterbrained diatribe (and the previous one you linked to) as far as I can tell his main concerns with atheism are as follows: -if it's not obvious to you that there's a god who created life and the universe and makes miracles and rainbows and pretty music, then you're a stupid-head. -atheists are mean and disrespectful and wrote snarky letters in response to his last column. -there's a shadowy cabal of elite atheists secretly running the government. -if you ain't got Jesus, you ain't got no moral barometer (in the famous words of noted thinker Steve Harvey). -if you aren't a Christian, Mr Black doesn't think you're on his side in the fight to Defend Western Civilization. When relieved of his flowery and bloated prose, his arguments just don't seem nearly as sophisticated, do they? In regard to creation and the origins of life, that issue has been debated for ages by people far smarter than Mr Black. I don't think we need to get into that here, there's already other threads on that topic, and there's a wealth of information out there if you're interested in reading on it. Suffice to say that the pompous gasbag is hardly the final word on the subject. In response to the rudeness of the correspondence he's received, good for him. He's learned a life lesson that most of us learned many years ago, which is that if you act like a jerk, people will treat you like a jerk. In regard to the elite atheist cabal that's actually running things, it's laughable. Hey, perhaps it's the Illuminati! Perhaps it's those darned globalists that Steve Bannon is always raging about! Perhaps the world is actually run by a cabal of elite atheist globalist Illuminati! In regard to "the ghastly enfeeblement of moral relativism", I've already pointed out that the continuous and ongoing reinterpretation of the Bible's real intention demonstrates that "moral absolutism" is complete fiction. Slavery is great, Bible says so! Nope, slavery is bad! Bible says so! How'd that happen? Your source of "absolute morality" got reinterpreted. Moral relativism! Thou shalt not kill! Except in certain situations! Which situations? Nobody can agree! Moral relativism! And in regard to Mr Black's concern that he can't count on me to fight creeping Islamism? I will oppose creeping Islamism with the same intensity with which I oppose creeping Christian Dominionism, and for the same reasons. Mr Black needn't worry about that. -k

  22. You can get it. They have a web-site. Just type in North Korea in yahoo. The goose stepping in unison is quote something to march. They do a very high goosesteep. You have to be in good shape to march as long as they do with it. Its very Borg like from Star Trek. The North Korean you tube films, try some. Some people get in there and take secret films. It seems like some weird Bizzaro planet like from the old 60's Superman comics. Its actually quite scary. This is a nation where you must have a speaker on your wall in your house with the state radio station left on 24 hours a day or they will arrest you. Your neighbours could report you. If they find any smuggled videos from China you are in serious trouble. Your only source of music and news is the radio station and state t.v. which comes on a few hours a day. They even impose one of three hair cut styles on men. What you wear, what you can say, all controlled. They say outside the cities there is mass famine and inside the cities, food is all re-routed to the military and everyone else gets very basic bread, poor quality fish and turnip diets if that. Meanwhile they say the fat boy leader has gout and over-does on chocolate and expensive rich foods and lives this decadent crazy life complete with sex slaves and people getting killed at whim. Its crazy. On satellite the world is full of bright lights then you hit North Korea and its almost all dark in the night time. Now from strategic point of view how could you even have a war with this nation? You'd have to have full approval of China to do that and the only way you could do something drastic would be to take out all its military sites, and then what? It probably is full of fanatics brought up on and who know nothing but the indoctrination they were given. Those are the kind of followers that drag out a ground war forever. So your other alternative is what, try find someone inside to take out the fat boy? I can't imagine with such a police state that would be easy. I can't imagine being able to penetrate the inner circle with say agents or even double agents. There's no James Bond to take out this nut job.
