Another reason Poilievre will not win.
Canadaisintrouble replied to John Johnston's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Full independence! The Canada from 15 years ago is gone and not coming back. Imagine Canada in another 10-15 years at this pace of decline. Smaller land locked countries all over the world do just fine, one like Alberta with what's below the ground will thrive. -

well the question as always is what does 'out' mean? Total separation into an independent sovering nation? That would not go well for alberta. They don't have the population or diversity of economy to sustain that. Countries cost a lot of money. If every western province split and created a new country that would barely be big enough and have enough diversity of economy to make a go of it. There is no single province in Canada capable of standing alone as its own country at the moment. Soo... some sort of Sovereign association? More powers to the province in some form? It's challenging to put a good model together, remembering that the feds know whatever Alberta gets, the other provinces will eventually ask for. -

So the 24/7 negative nonsense about Poilievre from the press you watch has obviously sunk into your head The hatred you show is based upon the palpable fear you also show. What about Diagolon lies, care to address those. -

he's well liked and well respected, otherwise you wouldn't feel the Need to come up with childish nicknames for him People don't do that that's a rule unless they're afraid of the other person and need to dehumanize them so that they can cope It's worth mentioning again but he came within one and a half percent of the same popular vote that carney got. Carney's vote is more efficient but it's not larger in any meaningful way. So we'll see what happens -

I hadn't seen that report when i wrote that and frankly i doubt you had either. But you're right, so that puts the score of 'right vs wrong' to 1 to 57200259 in my favor. Congrats on making it no the board Yeah you did. All happy about it and defending it. Not the only one here that's for sure. Whether the pilot died or was just injured, it's not a thing to laugh about. You're taking glee in the fact that a conflict is going on longer than it was expected to and people are getting hurt or killed. Glee no less. It's fine to point out things like trump had made a claim that a war would last a certain length of time but it's lasted longer, and it's fine too make a critique like you think it's due to incompetence or something like that. That's all fair game. But you're literally reveling in the fact that a conflict that they had hoped to resolve is continuing on because you feel somehow it gives you some sort of victory. It does not. And being happy that people are getting hurt and killed just so you can score a political point is disgusting. And it's not the first time I can understand you being angry. I could understand you being critical. But no sorry you being happy about it is just disgusting

1. TDS... 🫵 😮🍆 2. Voting for a shyster wouldn't have been an option. Probably pretty safe to say that your cost of living would be a lot less expensive today had she won. Embrace Trump inflation.... it's the best ever seen, they think it could be done. nobody has ever seen anything like it.... 3. The thuggery of immigrants makes for good TV doesn't it... -
Well I guess the Americans think they can run world, so I guess the World has an opinion. And it's not looking very good for ole Bones Spurs these days. Little Iran is kicking your Can while Israel is leading America around like a dog on a leash. Lol. I could on all day, but, it;s Brunch time for Steak and Eggs. Peace. ✌️

The problem is trying to give power to the provinces while also trying to take power from the provinces You have this weird crossover where they try and give the provincial governments local power while at the same time giving federal governments power over areas that affect each other and it comes into conflict. For example, guns. The constitutional powers clearly indicate that the provinces are responsible for the sale of goods and what goods can be sold. So a province like Alberta should absolutely be able to say what kind of guns are soldwhat regulations involve their use. However the constitution grants the federal government certain powers under safety. So you get the federal government stepping on the provincial rights under the name of safety and there isn't a lot of balance there Things work best when there are clear divided authorities. What you get now is frequent and constant government overreach on the federal level into the provinces and the provinces get angry and fight back. You also see tax dollars collected from all provinces benefiting a disproportionately small number of provinces often at the expense of other provinces. When it's clear and there's no cross over and no opportunity for overreach and everyone agrees who's job is what then you tend to eliminate much of the problem.

Great. Sounds like he has a fighting chance to defend himself if an armed vigilante hunt him through the night for no reason. This has nothing whatsoever to do with Obama. You simply don't seem to know the facts of that case either. The people who sent him hundreds of thousands of dollars. The organizations and events who invite him to be a celebrity guest (though that seem to have dried up since he has continued to be a dirtbag and get in trouble). The creeps who bid on the murder weapon when he auctioned it off--sold for $250K. And frankly, the outpouring 👍 I definitely buy that Zimmerman was afraid for his life after Martin turned on him. That's reasonable. But Martin also should have been afraid for his life. He was being hunted through the dark. That too is reasonable. And in this case, Zimmerman absolutely engineered the conflict. He was not behaving reasonably. Martin was just "walking while Black." Zimmerman turned around to follow him by truck. He called the police. He chased him on foot. The dispatchers told him not to chase the kid. He did anyway. He kept chasing him and chasing him. Martin retreated and retreated and retreated -- for over 7 minutes. And when Martin finally stood his ground and fought his pursuer, Zimmerman shot the kid. Despite doing everything wrong, initiating the confrontation, pursuing for 7+ minutes, Zimmerman was able to claim self defense. He was the aggressor for 7+ minutes, and when the tables turned, he escalated to lethal force. And was acquitted. Imagine that. Compared to the Anthony case, the contrast is dramatic. Different jurisdictions. Different juries. But the same old story that the data tells us again and again: laws like this are not applied equally for Black defendants.
