Smallc Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 And you are admitting that seperatism is still an issue, with many ramifications. It crops up in the usual places (Quebec, equalization payment spats, Alberta oil wealth, proportional representation, etc.).Your gasping..... Its an issue, but its not a worry. http://www.cjob.com/StationShared/BlogAdler.aspx The newest article is a very interesting read. When he read what he had written on the air it brought tears to my eyes. I don't worry about separatism because although it may be an issue, its not a problem. Quote

Mr.Canada Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Can you try that again in one of our official languages please? Mr. Chretien slammed the USA as have many in the Liberal party publicly. Most of the left wing slams the US at every turn. Why should they respect us more when many of our citizens slam them at every opportunity to get a photo taken or a few words in a paper? guyser Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Mr. Chretien slammed the USA as have many in the Liberal party publicly. Quibble point, it wasnt Chretien who was saying, although he wasnt too fast to hush them so... Most of the left wing slams the US at every turn. Why should they respect us more when many of our citizens slam them at every opportunity to get a photo taken or a few words in a paper? Most huh? Most ? You sure about that or is this another one of those hyperbole statements of yours? Ok , we both know it wasnt "most" , and of course we both know this country has ignorant people who make dumb statements, and we both know there are ignorant statements eminating from the US as respects Canada quite often. So.....what were saying again? Quote

If people cannot attack the statements made then they are admitting defeat to a person of supreme intellect and wit. Anyone is free to go the rabble forums to see how many anti-USA statements there are. Jack Layton himself was slagging the USA at every turn as was Dion. The followers of those parties are in turn anti-American as witnessed everyday on the election campaign. That said, what the hell are you talking about? Attacks? Who and where and what? Anyone is free to go the rabble forums to see how many anti-USA statements there are. Jack Layton himself was slagging the USA at every turn as was Dion. The followers of those parties are in turn anti-American as witnessed everyday on the election campaign. You will have then tracked every single poster on "rabble forums" to ensure they were 100 % canadians . (Id live to see that data.) The point was, and still is, that there are ignorant people out there making wild accusations about the USA , and conversely some from the USA directed back at Canada (not here tho). Hyperbole, go look it up. Ya know, after you report it. Quote

Hyperbole, go look it up. Ya know, after you report it. I'd like to stick to the issues if you don't mind. I would like to see a cite that shows the majority of the left supports the USA. No one could produce one as people watch the news and can see and hear what is reported. Jack Layton and Stephane Dion were both attacking the USA during the election and since these people have a job to represent their ridings, their parties and their members I would think these views are widely held. If they aren't then they aren't representing anyone but themselves which is obviously not true Cite me a reference that refutes what I'm saying otherwise I will need to dismiss any comments made as argumentative, without merit and potentially hostile. Look at what this country did the day of 9-11. We opened this country to planes and people, the majority of them US. Jack and Staphane didnt get elected. If they were attacking the US, (and they werent) it was rejected anyhow. As for your last comment, t'was you who opined that the left hates the US. Is that cite somewhere to be found.....looking . . . . . nope, not down here either. Quote

Right...the only time the US pays any attention to Canada is when Canadians are slamming us! From vulgar CBC opinion pieces to stomping on plastic dolls. "Damn Americans....I hate those bastards." LOL! Quote Economics trumps Virtue. Â
Smallc Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Most of the left wing slams the US at every turn. I thought you were going to stop generalizing? I am on the centre - left and I don't slam the US. We may not always like what they do, but I don't see much slamming being done most of the time. Quote

T he left never disses George Bush and they never compare Bush and Harper, yeah I was making it all up. You're right and the smartest person on this board smallc, sitting here posting 12 hours a day. Smallc Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Really? And how do you know that most Americans hate him? Dislike then. Its irrelevant anyway as GWD does not equal USA. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Dislike then. Its irrelevant anyway as GWD does not equal USA. Still very imprecise...you could accurately support low job aproval ratings for President Bush...about 25% presently. He also had the highest approval ratings ever in 2001. The US Congress must really be "disliked", because their ratings are even lower...about 11% approval. Quote Economics trumps Virtue. Â

That is still completely beside the point that I was actually making. Canadians don't hate Americans. We aren't always fond of what you do, but we don't hate you. Canadians though, do not like George Bush. Quote

Most Canadians do not like President Bush's policies.....but have no personal experience with the man. Some Canadians do "hate" Americans, and at least one has stated so publicly. Mr.Canada Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Okay, enough of this. The topic is a very good question. It's hard to believe that the USA wouldn't respect Canada isn't it? I don't think any politicians have ever said anything non flattering about the Americans have they?
