A New Study Just Confirmed the Left's Worst-Kept Secret – PJ Media

Columbia University's magazine noted back in 2023 that "American adults who identify as politically liberal have long reported lower levels of happiness and psychological well-being than conservatives.”

However, researchers spent years scratching their heads over why.

Scholars from the Universities of Florida and Toronto eventually took a crack at it, drawing on four separate studies. Their conclusion? Conservatives tend to have greater personal agency, religiosity, moral clarity, a positive outlook, and stronger self-worth… which are traits consistently linked to resilience and mental health. In other words, having a sense of purpose and taking responsibility for your life is good for you. Who knew?

When you spend all your time hate it on others, celebrating violence, being professionally offended on behalf of groups you have nothing to do with and lying to yourself about others, it cannot help but take a toll on your mental health. And all the zucchinis in the world can't fix that

It exactly shows that mental illness is tied to political identity, in particular the far-left radicals who prioritize rapists, child molesters and grooming gangs, murderers and criminals, over their victims.

This is not normal behaviour.  It's mental illness.

Well it seem that the latest study would agree with you.

There has been a rather substantial body of research which is already proven that this is true. There's really no doubt, democrats and people on the left in general have substantially poor mental health. And as has been noticed it's starting to become part of the political identity. People with poor mental health tend to identify with others on the left with poor mental health

But the question that has never really been addressed is why. We know it's true but we don't know why it's true. Do left-wing ideals make people mentally ill over time or does being mentally ill attract them to liberal ideas in the first place? This is the kind of question that remained unanswered

The study actually takes a crack at why and I find that really interesting. It actually complements other research that's been done that's not specific to this issue but looks at why people have poor mental health in many cases

If you obsess all day on your hatred for another group and your anger on behalf of another group then that tends to poison your soul. This is true outside of politics. Obsessing on negative outcomes and negative circumstances has a very serious effect on your mental health.

So it's interesting to see that the research is suggesting that conservatives who have a much more positive self-image and spend far less time worrying about other people and their problems and are more grounded in a common set of moral beliefs and a sense of history are far more resilient to mental health issues

This is so obvious a "lefty" issue.  From letting rapists out on the streets, to ignoring the grooming gang scandal in the UK, to the constant denigration of our history as a country by tearing down statues and labeling Canadians as nothing more than racist, genocidal maniacs, to land acknowledgments, to the property rights issue in BC, to showering money and privileges on illegal immigrants while impoverishing Canadians, to giving away all our tax dollars to the point there's little left to actually run the country with, to debates about whether men can become pregnant and menstruate, to believing we can change the weather by giving billions to already wealthy parasites.....

It's all insanity.  And it's all coming from the left.
