Army Guy Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 Guilbeault has said he plans to retire leave the liberals over their climate plans....with 14 other liberal members upset over them as well, agreeing with stevens letter, only they never had the balls to put their names on that letter....and while a good portion of Canada is parting to the news, Canada's number one climate extremist is going to fight by another way...maybe green peace will have him back, who knows... And while i don't like the mans politics/ beliefs i will give him credit for sticking to his believes regardless of the cost... and having the balls to put his name to the letter sent to the PM...but like in liberal fashion those other 14 well, they like their jobs, and the pay check and don't think climate change is worth the sacrifice... The bloc offered him a seat, along with the other 14 liberal members but no bites......and Canadas oldest windbag spoke up for him....don't know if she was drunk or not... The question now is ...Is the liberals in trouble, will Carney change his direction......will there be others leaving or just Guibeault....I wonder if Carney is going to go back to bribing anyone else to come over, or are the liberals destined to lose their majority....one can only hope... 500channelsurfer Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 I wonder why he did not cross over to the Greens or NDP. They seem more aligned to him than anyone else at the moment. It certainly speaks to Canadian political culture when crossing the floor is only ever one way. Sad day. Quote

The policies weren't popular. The new direction is popular. Guibeault can go pound salt. Yeah. Kudos for sticking to his guns. I saw him in an interview on this and while i think his agenda is bonkers he believes it and has the strength of his convictions to do the right thing. Gotta admire that at least. Party isn't going to change directions. Carney thinks he is king if not god and can do whatever he likes. For now he's correct, and I don't think very many other liberals are going to have the strength to walk away from their jobs like this. Those people who believe that the liberals are betraying their environmental roots will be slowly pushed to the side Into Obscurity and may or may not get their nomination papers signed next time depending on how they behave If Courtney's popularity ever fades then maybe something might brew in the back benches but right now there's no chance Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Concern for the environment and climate hasn't gone away. It was briefly eclipsed by the emergence of Trump but that'll pass - kinda like COVID. None of those people ever served with the NDP of the greens for the most part. With one possible exception I can think of. So I doubt they'll be going back anywhere. The Liberal Party is where they started, and that's where their power and money are. Few will be willing to give that up 44 minutes ago, eyeball said: Concern for the environment and climate hasn't gone away The Climate Change agenda has been exposed for being a scam for the most part. Some of the diehards will still want to pursue it but the general public won't. If ideas are proposed that don't cost a ton of money and there's some reason to believe they'll be more successful than taxing climate change out of existence was then sure they'll be support for it Edited May 28 by CdnFox Quote "That which doesn't kill me... We're specifically talking about the cabinet and the politicians. If you want to change the subjects you have to let people know You can hear the voices in your head but we cannot As for the voters I don't know that they will. A small percentage might but honestly the NDP spent the last four or five years cementing the mental image and people's minds then it was just a support party for the liberals and polling indicates that that hasn't really changed. Additionally the presence of trump is what drove a lot of people to the liberals from the NDP and that hasn't changed. The polling across multiple agencies is quite clear that climate change is fairly low on the list for most people at this point including left-wing supporters. There's no doubt that some will feel like it's enough reason to go back to the NDP but not that many i think. Plus the ndp is turning many off with it's far left stance under the new leader. That guy was a mistake. I mean seriously, carney convinced the NDP to vote for an international banker who is a specialist in helping Canadian 1% avoid paying taxes and who had a long history of renovictions. I think the ndp voters are pretty sold on Carney for now. Quote And just the other day you said you cared. No, I said the other day that nobody cared People still are concerned about climate change and they would like to see something improve but they get that the 'climate alarmists' are full of crap and after 10 years of paying their 'climate tax' the environment is no better off. So its fallen off the top 10 list for most people. That's your doing. Edited May 28 by CdnFox Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

He just convinced enough people that PP was the scarier choice in the face of Trump is all. Climate change will eventually bring people back around to reality. Yup, Carney's first official lie was that the carbon tax didn't work. He can thank you for your support. Agreed, he lied and they bought it. Quote Climate change will eventually bring people back around to reality. The polls say they're turning farther away. Pretty soon it will be A distant memory.
