Hmm, when it comes right down to it, any expenditure when dealing with Tax dollars or any monies it can be considered somewhat political. Just have to try and make certain the monies for the right reasons. And ya, that's a big ask.

I agree with the creation of a Sovereign wealth fund. Personally I think it has been long overdue. Our Country does not belong to Corporations or Foreign interests, it belongs to all Canadians.

It will be a crown corp. Sorry but he absolutely will have say in setting it up, who his running it, etc etc.  That's the way it works.

Nobody is calling for a sovereign wealth  fund, and in fact, many are pointing out that this isn't one by the usual definition. It's a sovereign debt fund.  Sovereign  wealth funds are created from Wealth  - where the state is generating profits from assets.   Like the Alberta Heritage Fund or the Norwegian wealth fund.
