Do Conservative voters actually think this is a good use of taxes?

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/doug-ford-private-jet-9.7167824

“Instead of taking commercial flights like many premiers in this country do, Ford would rather cosplay the life of the rich and famous on taxpayers’ dime,” said Noah Jarvis, CTF Ontario director.

“Ordinary taxpayers are struggling to make ends meet and Ford is making them pay for a personal jet so that he doesn’t have to wait in line at the airport like everyone else."

The provincial government says the plane will not be flown for personal use.

Questions about Billy Bishop airport connection

NoJetsTO, a citizen group that opposes the province's plans to take over Billy Bishop airport from the city’s jurisdiction to allow jets to land at the island airport, alleged in a statement the province's move coinciding with the Challenger 650's purchase isn't "a coincidence."

“For eight years Premier Ford has not said a single word about the island airport, and suddenly he’s hell bent on expand the airport to allow him to fly Gravy Plane jet from there," Chair Norm Di Pasquale said in the statement.

Before you condemn it, look at the books.
Is it cheaper than paying for a Charter on kept on standby?

The last big company I worked for had TWO, and a couple of float planes . That was less expensive.
So did the Vancouver Canucks at one time.

Come on you guys, everyone know the Conservatives are all about fiscal responsibility and law and order and all that. Give him a break, it was a used plane. Besides, there won't be any Jet fuel for a while anyway, how much trouble can he get in Disney World?

Now he can get to moms Cabin in Muskoka in fourteen minutes instead of the usual hour and a half. Leaves more time for Doug to be hard at work. Good deal.

....

Quebec voters do.

They subsidize these CO2 emitting jets built - in Quebec - for rich people.

=====

Hydro-Quebec CEO (even the Quebec PM) has several but they are classified differrently.

Ford? I reckon that this is bad PR.

I wonder what Ontario MP's (of all parties) annual costs are for transportation around the province?

Tickets,

Plane rentals

Aircraft charters

Nice thanks.

I was more wondering about business travel. When the Premier or Ministers or MP's (of all parties) are flying around the Province on business.

They certainly do spend a lot though :)

Couldn't find that business only model without more specifics of dates, where to, who with etc.

Thanks for the effort.

The thought just went along with Ford buying a jet and then selling it.

Would it have been cheaper to use the jet for MP's etc and using it to travel around Ontario or is it cheaper to keep buying tickets and renting or charting aircraft.

Hard to say, with fuel, hangar and maintenance costs, airport fee's etc.

That is exactly it.

How much is being spent on charter aircraft to get into remote places? If there is even scheduled routes there. How much for helicopters? How many ministers and public servants are spending on travelling this province?

How much does it cost to get officials to a remote area in the next few days vice having to rent a jet to use? Renting an 8 passenger aircraft is about $10,000 per hour plus crew costs and associated airport fees (plus crew accommodation and meals expenses etc).

Yes, I stick with that. If it costs less in the long run it is VERY conservative.

If you walk away because people simply think spending significant amounts that they hear about is bad, that is stupidity. Mr Ford should've presented a business case for it and obviously couldn't, so it was sold back.

Carney has no "private" jets.

The Canadian Air Force 412 Sqn has a fleet of Challenger jets for parliamentarians, GG and other dignitaries to use.

437 Transport Squadron, operates five Airbus A310-300s, all designated as CC-150 Polaris; four are configured as normal airliners with cargo transport and aerial refuelling capability, while one, No. 001, is operated in a VIP configuration.

I know how difficult it is for you to get the facts LOL

Just like we paid for all CF18's, all CH148 Cormorants, all C130 Hercules, all navy ships, all army tanks....

Do you get a ride in the fighters? The SAR helicopters, The Hercs? The ships? The tanks? Anything the military has?

Are they all "private" too?

I did not think you could make any stupider comments but then...you did  LOL

Clearly, once again, you pull shit out of your a$$

"The VIP fleet, often managed by 412 Transport Squadron, is occasionally repurposed for medevac or emergency civilian transport, with 3 CC-144 Challengers configurable"

"Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CC-130 Hercules aircraft frequently fly Canadian citizens and foreign nationals, primarily during humanitarian evacuations, disaster relief, and search and rescue operations"

"Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CC-150 Polaris fleet has flown individuals other than military personnel, primarily in roles related to government, diplomatic, or humanitarian service"

I am surprised Uber even picks you up LOL

They are reserved for his use so yeah he does.

Exactly the same for Carney.

Aswww,,,, did those pesky facts come back to bite you in the ass :)

So, precisely the same as careny and you didn't whine about that,  Careful kid your hypocrisy is showing again ;)

I never insisted that you insisted. Prove your lie :)

But as shown it's a private jet for Carney in exactly the same way it is for ford. Members of the legislator would use it as well.

But you said something stupid and now you feel bad that she said something stupid and you're crying as usual
