For a period of time Canada felt like a dictatorship, and not all of it can be blamed on the necessities of handling a public health crisis.

You can blame it feeling that way because of ill-founded misinformed paranoia.

Seriously, Mr Socks was the leader of the 4th Reich?

LMAO!

What caught my attention this morning was a quick read on the update from the Louisiana mass shooting of 8 children and that it's just 'back page news'....   The important things to America now are TACO doing his thing, gerrymandering, Kash Patel's drinking binges, and the Epstein files being more front and center newsworthy items for a politically divided nation.

WTF has happened to society when 8 children being shot are talked about for a day or two, then put on the back burner while political bullshït like the above becomes more important to people because of their fanatical right or left positions.

It's not what the US is becoming, it's what it's become....   An ethically declining country that is morally decayed, with much of that at Trump's feet for the division he perpetuates on a daily basis.  Mass shootings of children... whatever, we have more important things to worry about with gerrymandering and Kash Patel's favourite choice of morning scotch.  Sad to see...

Well done, WokeSoul60. You've shown that you care about stuff while only bashing Trump moderately. Good for you. ;)

Whatever...  you've become a morally broke nation, which is sad to see.

Enjoy your Trump years and the mess he's created domestically and internationally.  He has already set your country back decades in how the world will interact with the US going forward, and by the looks of it he's just warming up.  Have fun.

You're projecting. You're also being a hypocrite. Everyone knows the left is morally bankrupt, so you're wasting your cyber breath.

Trump certainly has his faults, but at least he has the good sense to put his country first - the democrats want none of that; in fact they want the opposite.

No, we're on the right path despite your bitter gnashing of teeth.

Well, since you are one of the people pushing all the phony left wing talking points above…

Why have you not created a thread on the subject you wish to discuss?

You have let your hate of Trump get the best of you.

America does more good around the world than most if not all others.

But sure, just generalize like you are doing and ignore that all… because must hate Trump.

When I see decent people treated this way, and when it tracks with many other stories I’ve heard recently about how harsh and insensitive the US has been towards foreigners and even some of its own citizens, I can’t help wondering if the US really has declined, and I’m saying this as a conservative and long-time visitor to the US. Maybe places like Panama or Costa Rica are where I should be retiring and it’s time to sell the place in Florida.

The pendulum tends to swing. For a long time the government in power refused to do anything about immigration issues even though it was a major problem for a lot of people. They even encouraged it and claimed anyone who didn't like it was a bad person

In order to address that the people voted in somebody who was considerably stronger in that regard and now things have gone the other way.

That tends to be what happens politically regardless of the topic, if you allow a problem to fester unaddressed then you tend to get an 'overcorrection' the other way to 'right the ship' so to speak.

It's not great poitics. It's better when gov'ts address problems and concerns and take them seriously instead of polarizing them and creating a flash point

This will eventually swing back the other way and hopefully the next gov'ts of either stripe will work towards more moderate solutions that address the issues.

Read what I said.... not what you want to believe I said.  Tell me where I'm wrong in that opinion...

Yep, I don't like Trump at all and find him to be a narcissistic self-serving individual that is void of morals and decency.  Same as above... tell me where I'm wrong in that opinion.

I did. It’s absurd to say we are a “morally broke nation” because of your hate of Trump.

Elections have consequences, and electing a morally broke self-serving narcissistic that is void of ethics only add's to the decline.  Talk to your fellow citizens about it, not me....

One thing that many Americans can agree on, even in an era of deep political polarization, is that our country is in a moral free fall. In survey after survey, US adults of all ages, education levels, political affiliations, and religious backgrounds say that people are less kind, honest, generous, and respectful than they used to be.

Americans Think The U.S. Is Losing Its Moral Authority, New Poll Shows

ByMary Whitfill Roeloffs,  Forbes Staff.  Jan 09, 2026 at 02:21pm EST

TOPLINE

The number of Americans who believe the United States is the moral leader of the world has plummeted over the last decade, a new Ipsos poll shows, with Democrats and independents the most skeptical of the country’s position.

KEY FACTS

In a survey conducted in early December and released Friday, only 39% of respondents said they believe America is the world's moral leader, a 21-percentage-point drop from the 60% who believed it to be true in 2017.

The perception is sharply divided among party lines, with 64% of Republicans still believing the U.S. is the moral leader compared to 24% of Democrats and 35% of Independents.

Thank you for proving my point further.

You just hate Trump.

The things America does, what its people do, hell even stuff Trump does, is still good around the world.

The fact that you leftists are so emotionally obsessed with hating America because Trump is President isn’t evidence of anything more than how crazed you all are in letting your hatred of a personality define everything for you.

Lol... so you agree that your country has lost its morals.  No debate there.

Get over the I hate Trump thing.  So what, I'm in the vast majority of people here and even if I weren't, could care less.

Your TDS doesn't let you think properly....  I've said repeatedly that I like the US, always have and always will (?), but yes, I find Trump to be a piece of shît.  So what....get over it.

Why do you even bother posting here?

You have no connection to truth or reality. You can’t even honestly respond to me.

No connection to truth or reality,  and he's a liberal.  But there's no need to repeat myself ;)

This is what he's like. He's still over in another thread demanding I provide him with facts which I already provided half a decent times and half of which came from him

"I DEMAND YOU PROVIDE THE FACTS I"VE ALREADY PROVIDED!!!"

I mean what do you say to that?
