WestCanMan Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 Ten months ago I woulda thought that JD Vance was in a league of his own, as the strongest candidate to be the next POTUS, but Marco Rubio is a force to be reckoned with. This guy is sharp as a tack, and brilliant at making his case and laying down cold, hard facts. This was a masterclass in soft and hard diplomacy, unwavering support of the leader and the country, the ability to field tough questions with grace and intelligence, and just overall excellence. bush_cheney2004 Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 I would have assumed that Vance was a lock for 2028 GOP nomination last year, but Rubio has definitely raised his game as SecState. This is a good problem to have...two qualified candidates to compete for president elect. Other, more cynical factors come into play, like the Cuban/Hispanic vote + Florida, historical VP curse, Rubio's previous prez campaign experience in 2016, fundraising capacity (advantage Vance), religious faith journeys by both, etc. Rubio is less associated with domestic MAGA like Vance, so he may be seen as the more palatable off ramp from "Trumpism" in the general election. A lot of it will depend on how trump leaves his office, whether he still liked or despised. There's no doubt that Vance is going to wear trump's record the people are done with Trump Mania he's going to have an uphill battle and Rubio will be able to present himself as the so-called adults in the room that will lead to a more stable presidency. If trump is still life and respected then Vance will have a bit of an advantage Of course it also depends on who the opponent is. That makes a bigger difference in people think and who the other side is going to choose as they're running candidate 1 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

gatomontes99 Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 Rubio is a no doubter. Still loooove JD. But Rubio might out do Trump as POTUS. 1 Quote Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?

But Rubio has returned a hero 20 times and that was just last month. /hyperbole. You could probably make a case for better VPs than Vance in our history. You'd be very hard pressed to find a better Sec of State than Rubio. 1 Quote Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?
John Johnston Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 Does not matter. Neither will win an election. Vance might as well move to Hungary. Quote

Buddy, what leftist politician can you honestly match up against eiter of them? Lawn girl? Smarmy scandal guy from Cali? The Jew from Penn? You know that most Dems hate Jews. Will gator-lips from Looosyana run, himself? 🤣 The Dems are just a clown show now. There isn't an adult in that room, and if there was, everyone would hate him. That won't matter that much 3 years from now. While people may have a somewhat positive or negative impression events over the next 3 years, they will mostly associate him with trump. If trump's star is still shining at that point Vance will have a severe advantage. If not, Rubio's got a real shot by claiming that he is still a fan of trump's better policies but will bring them forward in a more stable in adult way or some sort of argument along those lines. Even if you think trump is great you can't argue that he's made for something of an unstable government and people may crave stability. That was Biden's big selling point We will see. A lot can happen in 3 years but I think it's going to boil down to whether or not people felt trump was a success in the end or whether they felt that he was just too much 33 minutes ago, WestCanMan said: Buddy, what leftist politician can you honestly match up against eiter of them? I don't know who they're going to put forward but I can tell what their campaign is going to be already based on the democrats during and after the last election HEHEHEHEEHEHEHE Trump bad! Bad man! Nazi! All supporters are nazi!!! Many are white males white males BAAAAD!!! Vote Happy!!! And good luck with that. I see no sign the dems are moving towards putting someone serious forward and nobody's interested in the 'basket of deplorables' vote 2 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."

I see no sign the dems are moving towards putting someone serious forward and nobody's interested in the 'basket of deplorables' vote It's pretty sad when there isn't even ONE Democrat politician that would be considered a healthy, functioning adult, with a real chance at leading the party. I mean, if you had to marry one of them, or be best friends with one of them, who would it be? I can tell you who it wouldn't be... anyone with a chance of winning their primary. Yeah, I remember the old jack Layton comment where people said even if you didn't like his politics he'd be a great guy to have a beer with. When I see any of the current contenders for the democrats having a beer with him isn't what pops into my mind. I find myself thinking more along the lines of lions and arenas. 1 Quote "That which doesn't kill me... Had better start running."
