Hold tight Carney...  The fat Orange Man will TACO out before too long.... his aimless supporters will be crying louder as the mounting pressure from inflation takes shape and Canadian's continue to say F*ck You to the US and our money spend in the country.  Add Vegas Baby casino owners to the list of business CEO's who have a problem with Trump's so-called policies...  So much fun!

Las Vegas is hurting as tourism drops. Are Canadians behind the Sin City slump?

The number of Canadians going to Vegas has plummeted — prompting concern among casino CEOs

"International visitation has been an issue," Hornbuckle said. "Particularly earlier in the year, with Canada, we host a lot of hockey games, and we saw visitation down. And I think — I don't think, I know — it's still down," he said.

America won't be doing without Canadian lumber, they have no other alternatives.  The American builder and consumer is going to feel the pain here so just a matter of time before something mutually beneficial is worked out.

What does that have to do with the softwood lumber that is needed for home construction?

They have plenty of alternatives, plenty of lumber producing nations out there , the real question is how much are they willing to pay....Canadian lumber is cheap because it only travels short distances, American has access to more domestic lumber but they need time to expand that industry....

Canada has been actively looking for new customers for it's lumber but to replace the US orders is a tall order...right now US customers are going to pay much more for their new homes, but Canadian lumber producers are going to have to reduce their output, once Americans find other alternatives...

US is always going to be our biggest customer, I personal think that we should be looking at restricting the amount of lumber sold to the US...i mean we have been accused of dumping it on the US market, it will either force the Americans to find other sources, or come back to the table and agree of less tariffs.......Sell our lumber here at home, and other nations....we need to start building homes like everyone talks about....

There are different types of lumber and softwood lumber that is used in home/residential construction and various handyman Reno's or projects mainly comes from Canada...~25 - 30% of their consumption and ~80% of their imports.  Otherwise they've have to look to Germany, Sweden or Brazil.

The US is certainly our biggest customer and that's likely to never change given we're landlocked with them.  We are though looking to expand more of this trade elsewhere which only benefits the industry.  And yes, plan to help jump start housing was introduced earlier this week which obviously benefits the industry as more homes get built.

So they do have options if the price is right....meanwhile Canada needs to do a better job at sell to other countries....lessening our need to depend on US markets for everything...

We need to stop talking about it and start executing the solution it is getting late in the building season...and tariffs are here now...

Yes, obviously Canada is trying to lessen the dependance on the US but you don't wake up tomorrow and start shipping materials around the world without someone to sell it to.  That takes time.

Building activity will happen when there is a demand for it. The overall market is soft with developers are sitting on thousands of unsold new construction units....primarily Toronto and Vancouver condos.  When the demand is there new homes will be built to meet that demand.

No need to cut anything at Cathedral Grove.  MacBlo at the time traded that standing junk deadwood at the grove for cutblocks higher up on Arrowsmith.  The grove was done 40+ years ago . . . it's standing junk now.

Being facetious about the Redwoods . . . Redwood doesn't make good construction lumber.  Douglas fir does.

Don't light your hair on fire, it might get away on you and cause an evacuation.

This is trumps second term, i guess Canada slept through the those years, we had a huge glance at what was coming....we said the same thing about China and that trade war, and we still do business with china...maybe this time we will take it more seriously...I hope Carney gets a grip on it soon or he might be that one hit wonder...

Are you saying there is NO demand for new homes now....and the media has been saying for a few months now all these condos and apartments in the big cities are not filled to capacity...with prices going down , which is a good sign....

But homes, everyone eventually wants a home, i mean here in NB homes prices have more than doubled in the last 5 to 6 years, i bought 6 years ago for 385, and sold this year for 775....and the cost of building is out of this world....builders are building smaller homes, even those are priced at the top of the market for new families' at 550 or higher...someone said that a good drop in interest rates could start building up...that and removing some of the red tape...

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Not sure what you're trying to say....   We should have more diversified our trade more during Biden's term in case the Orange *sshole came back for another failed term?  In hindsight, obviously so....   I don't recall the conservatives clamouring for this though....were they?

How/why would you interpret what I said as there is no demand for new homes?  The market is soft with a lot of inventory for sale....not breaking news.  There is an excess of new condos on the market not selling....not breaking news.   Prices will go back up as demand comes back.

No one was talking about it during biden, but then again the show was a liberal one..., and yet every party was talking about it during trumps rien...we do alot of that in Canada talk the sh!t out of things then forget about them...same as China trade war and then the Michaels....

Market is soft for condos and apartments, homes meaning double or single homes, are in very much demand in fact were millions short, maybe i misunderstood

Yes, the show has been and will likely continue to be a liberal.  I don't recall a lot of conversation about the critical urgency to diversify our trade away from the US though....  Hindsight is great and doubt if we'd had a conservative government anything would be different in regards to our trade with the US.

Depending on which market you're in....  I live in Vancouver and SF home sales are down YOY.  There is a want/need for more housing but developers/builders are not going to get active until the demand is there.  I agree though.... we (and the US) are significantly lacking in housing availability.
