The NDP is forcing Carney to step up to the microphone, hat in hand, and say: "The NDP forced me to do these things on behalf of Canadians." 

Trudeau managed to really run the show from behind the scenes last time, which was ideal for a little slitherer like him, and whatever concessions Jagmeet may or may not have gotten from him backstage, Trudeau still got to walk to the mic and be the big leader.

This was a power move by the NDP, and if they can force Carney to grovel on camera, I think they can win a lot of their support back.
