If this was a criminal trial, they would need evidence and a complainant. However, it is not and everyone knows this. Even the suspicion that the detractors are correct is enough. There is something different about this time around. Had this been during Trump's first term, he would have stuck with Gaetz and relished the controversy.

A few arguments from Matt Gaetz. FYI, I haven't checked any of these. Im just putting his side up:

Those are some of his rebuttals on X. Not my words. I'm just posting them so everyone can have both sides.

Meh...the sex offences I don't believe.

He's essentially admitted to paying prostitutes. Claimed it was in his younger days (lol) but all signs point toward it being the only way he ever has sex with a woman. If he is actually a heavy consumer of black market prostitution, then pretty unlikely he's checking their IDs at the door.

So...he fcked some hoes. You Libbies should destroy him. It'll be the last chance you get for several years.

Of course the usual "he didn't rape anyone, but if he did then I don't care" defense is the classic right wing position on republican politicians raping people. No wonder they keep doing it.

I literally posted the X posts where he says he didn't pay for sex.

Duh The guy had no problem committing a crime..why do you think he wouldn't committ a lesser crime of perjury knowing the Democrats are just as Crooked as he is and have a history of covering up criminal acts?

What you "know" is just BULLSHIT. People in prison want to get out early, not be sentenced to longer terms. Duh

All that's required to reject a JOB APPLICANT is lack of competence or a reputation for illegal behavior.

And the age of consent is?

Oh how I hate the Sea Lion routine.

Under Flordia law it is statutory rape for someone his age to engage in sex with a 16 or 17 year old.

The age of consent is 18.

Never mind, it was prostitution, and she was on drugs, and the whole thing is just disgusting.

It's not pretty. That's for sure. But it's not statutory rape.

Thus... @robosmith is wrong yet again.

Yes, that is statutory rape.

Enough with this deny, deny, deny routine. It is tiresome and sad.

Statutory rape in Florida defines that it is illegal for a person of 24 years or older to engage in sexual activity with a minor who is 16 or 17 years old. Even if there was consent to the sexual act, according to the statutory rape law, the adult can be charged with a second-degree felony.

If she was 17 it's simply not. It's rather gross. But it's not a crime.

Because you say so, Mr. Pretend Expert on US law? LMAO

You're FOS as USUAL. LMAO

What is Florida's statutory rape law?

Under Florida law, a person who is 24 years old or older who has sex with a person 16 or 17 years of age has committed a second-degree felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

"A person charged with this offense may not claim ignorance or misrepresentation of the minor’s age as a defense," the report pointed out. State law also prohibits consideration of the minor's previous sexual conduct as relevant.

The House Ethics report added that "it is also a criminal offense under Florida state law to solicit, induce, entice, or procure another to commit prostitution, or to 'purchase the services of any person engaged in prostitution,' or to 'aid, abet, or participate' in such actions."
