FYI Ukraine has ten times the population of those countries. Shares several times as much border with Russia and Belarus. Has several times the GDP of Latvia and Lithuania. Ukraine spends 5x as much on defence, and when they start using standard NATO ammo and weapons systems, that means huge contracts for McDonnell Douglas, N Grumman, Raytheon, DuPont, etc.

Russia did not "allow" Crimea to join them. Russia annexed them with an invasion.

This was not a secret plan, it was known the US and other NATO countries were looking to expand for years and it took another couple of years to get them in. 

Russia had all the time in the world to launch a full scale invasion to stop them.

So... spending years engaged in diplomacy, building an alliance, providing support and aid... then having a country VOLUNTARILY join NATO in a mutual defense alliance, where you will have the aid and support of many others... is, *checks notes* no different than Napolean or any other tyrant?
