If Donald Trump changed his accent everywhere he went, people would have no issue calling it what it is. He would be mocked for it. No one would euphemize it by calling it "code switching".

I see people on here calling the Trump supporting posters cultists. I find that quite ironic. To be fair there are Trump cultists out there. But I don't see much cultism on here. I see people on either side who are very partisan. I see personal attacks. But I also see that many of the Trump supporters do not revere him. They openly admit he says dumb stuff sometimes. They aren't pretending his past is as pure as the driven snow.

I see more cultism from the leftists. They are incapable of admitting any wrong. Someone goes around using fake accents. That's code switching. Joe gets forced out of the race because he is experiencing dementia. He is showing his love for the country, and his timing in doing so is genius. myata referred to it as a "masterstroke".

I speak differently to friends and family than I do at work. But my accent doesn't change.

Actually it probably does and you don't even realize it. It's a well-documented phenomenon. I know what you mean though. I'm a teacher and when my kid first saw me talking to my students he couldn't get over how differently I talked and I didn't know what he meant. However, its a bigger change when switching to an entirely different subculture like Harris is doing here and she's probably exaggerating it for effect.

Dude, people don't become full on southern when they go to the south. Give it a rest.

Donald Trump's public speaking behavior is a meme and he's mercilessley ridiculed for it every day. It's very different from his private speech patterns.

74 million voted for him in the last election - that's more than any sitting president ever garnered.  I hope that he tops that number this time.

Joe Biden is THE sitting President and soundly whipped Trump's ass in the pop vote.

And so did Hillary in 2016. Duh

Nah everyone code switches. When you're speaking to your kids vs adults, work people vs family, middle class vs working class etc. It's a natural thing everyone does. Definitely politicians will deliberately do it to seem more relatable.

I guess this isn't surprising when people on the left believe a person can identify as pretty much anything without regards for reality.

This is like bragging that you lost fewer pawns in a game of chess after being put into checkmate.

Who cares?

My wife is from Mississippi and she's lived in the Midwest since middle school. When we visit down there and we're surrounded by her extended family, her way of taking changes.

Code switching is very common for black people who have to navigate different cultures. Obama did this as well when speaking to a more heavily black audience.

It's so interesting how right wing people just can't help themselves.

Exactly. And not just for Black people. It's everyone. The racist a-holes on this forum are going to perform differently at work or in public spaces.

So she is actually southern then. You are being completely ridiculous here. I know the phenomenon you are talking about. I am from the sticks, and I talk more like a person from the sticks when talking to people from the sticks. That's a far cry from what is happening here, and I think you know that. I don't adopt other accents as temporary affectations just by going somewhere.

Kamala did this. AOC did this. They did it in a way that's very noticeable. Other people seem to be able to speak in front of multiple audiences without significant changes in accent.

Yes, a bit. She moved in like 6th grade and doesn't have a southern accent normally. People can have more than one culture in their life.

Is Kamala Harris from the South?

No.

We are not talking about the natural evolution of speaking habits, that when you surround yourself with people over time you start to talk like them or if you were raised there it is a natural thing.

Seriously, this is such a pathetic attempt on your part to avoid admitting the obvious.

I would guess that most 'right wing' people would just simply speak in their normal way regardless of the makeup of the audience.

But  if they flip back and forth like that then it's not a sign of having more than one culture. It's a sign of either mental instability or a fake appeal to culture.

It's insincerity  and it'll come across that way over time.  It's a 'black of convenience' thing, not a 'black culture' thing.

You really should seek help. Ruminating on paranoid delusions and violent fantasies like you do is not healthy.

Eliminating the woke virus is the only cure - that, and your gaslighting. ;)

Alright, I can relate.  I'm glad we can agree this is a normal thing.

So, she's doing what you admit you also do.  But she's doing it more and you believe we should all be offended by it?

I am from the sticks. I have the accent. You are being completely ridiculous here. You know it. If I were to acquire a different one it would be one that I acquired with time, not one I've adopted as an affectation.

The "more" part is why it's not normal.

There is a reason that people will not mock your wife for using reverting to diction she had in a her childhood, but will mock someone like Britney or Madonna for adopting one they never had.

Oh are you arguing that Kamala Harris does not possess any black culture and was purely just making this up? Even though she's half black and has been around black people most of her life?

Are you claiming that's the way they speak in ontario where she grew up?

You're stretching farther and farther mr armstrong.

Make it illegal in any official capacity. No more ESG scoring systems, no more DEI ripping through companies, no more Blackstone. It's all relegated to your own little private hellscapes, where it belongs.

Oakland is 25% black, and yes what you're hearing is African-American vernacular.

Being 1/4 black doesn't give her a southern accent. If she goes to Britain do you suppose she talks to British blacks in a British accent? If she goes to Congo does she speak with an African accent?

You say your wife reverts to an accent she had growing up when you go to Mississippi. Do you adopt a southern accent when you go?

I thought that she was in Montreal.

Sorry, pal. It's a cheap ass parlor trick and most people see right through it. I'll bet Kackla got a lot of eye rolls when she pulled that shit.
